Hey, that's me! Thanks so much for posting this video. From the days before UA-cam and cell phone cameras, it's a rare treat to actually see one of my own tours. I loved my time at USH! This was quite a nostalgia rush.
@@heidistraif2268 Hi Heidi! I hope you're doing well. You had the tough job wrangling the guests in and out of the teams. What a great blast from the past to hear from you!
I started working there in 1988. This brings back so many great memories. I do remember the tour guide Paul also. Too bad they changed all this. Thanks for posting!
Very cool , thx for posting. I used to take the tour around that time, and have occasionally worked there. it's changed a lot and this helps answer a few questions about where things used to be vs. now. Thanks again!
practical effects are so much cooler. unfortunately in 20 years the entire studio tour will be done like king kong 3d and fast and furious 3d with the huge screens.
Honestly I dont remember the brand ..I think it was made by RCA .. but i do remember it recorded directly to a vhs tape and it was HUGE lol. He was lugging that thing around all day in a big bag. I have more footage I'll be uploading soon so stay tuned! Thank you so much for watching!
I remember riding this as a kid in the late 80s…early 90s. I took my family here just last week. The new King Kong movie is cool but it lacks the charm of the old attraction.
I agree 100% !.. I really miss that King Kong Animatronic.. they had one in Universal Orlando also as a stand alone ride called Kongfrontation..but thats also now a thing of the past : 0 (
Thank you so much for posting this. I keep telling people that we used to get off the tram and see the special effects demonstration, then board again to finish the tour. This brings back so many great memories of when my parents would take me and my sister here.
@@Popculturecreep I visited on August 25, 1989. The Back to the Future site was the site for Part II then. Just the circular clock was removed then, but not the structure that supported it. I think I heard that the Back to the Future II set no longer exists today, but not sure.

Hey Paul...I remember you. I was a tram tour assistant and used to load and unload trams in that area.

Holy crap. The backlot looks soo different back then in the 80s.
Great footage of the old tour. So much has disappeared.
Glad you enjoyed it
I love jaws ride
It's awesome and it's still there in Hollywood!..unfortunately they took it out in Florida.
That’s were the runaway train used to be 45:49

Nice inclusion of the Special Effects Stage show!

@@Popculturecreep you're welcome! (what was your favorite part of the tour?)
My fave part were always the Bates Motel and Kongfrontation
Earthquake stage opens in 1989

36:24 King Kong
Good times. I knew that spinning cave thing was real and not a hallucination. Didn't see it on other videos. They got rid of it?
I was there 2 years ago and I don't remember it being there anymore
Wow is it me or does king Kong look more alive and moving in 1988 then he did just a year later? Sad how animatronics age over time and wear down.
I was there! August 1988! Lots of pictures! I remember Robert Wagner spoke to us for a little while! 36 years😮! Where did they go!!!
I liked the part where the lady was laughing hysterically when she saw King Kong lol 37:23
My missed attraction ... King Kong ... sad RIP
So good
Loved the video. Funny when the tour guide said I can't say too much about the ride....as he tells almost every aspect of it haha

The sitcom "Out of this World" was for one episode there. I can remembering me watching this episode on TV.
Does this video have the Back to the Future set? What is the timestamp?
Hello.. Yes it does. I have added Timestamps to the video so you can find it easy. Thanks for watching!

@@Popculturecreep Do you know the name of the site at 2:09 ? The robot shoots smoke and then the tram enters a dark building. Our videos are similar.
@@ts214121 He looks like one of the robots from Battlestar Galactica but i could be wrong.
