One of the coolest things I've ever seen. If you want it to be energy self-sufficient, then maybe consider installing flexible solar panels. Maybe as a form of roll-down blinds on the windows.
The design does incorporate flexible solar panels already, but as a paid additional addon I think that would be an incredibly good idea. It would have to be done through a 3rd party as I don't believe this company has anything to do with solar panels they only used some that fit their build from some other company much like the batteries
@@HayesHaugen thanks for clarifying this. Most people underestimate how much power is needed to get this moving. Small solar panels can light you a cigarette but that’s about it. Having said this - we are working on a different cabin design with much larger top surface area and will make it work. We don’t need to be a solar panel company to offer solar panels. We will have a third party manufacturer so it’s all coming. Just need time to develop all these ideas
I could see some kind of shade roof in the form of solar panels covering the rider all the way back to the roof of the boat, there's already plenty of light and visibility all around the cabin. In this way you could add more practicality to the concept of longer range/faster speed with higher output engine and more battery capacity. Yes it would add some weight and some complexity but it would make it more appealing to a market that is used to (or spoiled?) easy gasoline power. The shade would be a plus for the cyclist that lives in warmer weather. I know this would change part of the design, but making it look appealing may not be enough.
This is absolutely amazing. Bravo! One thing though: put chains on those orange bolts because I guarantee they're going to be dropped in the water and lost forever. 😅
Looks great but I have a few questions. What happened to the solar panels that were in V2? What are you using as an anchor? Can you, in your next video, demonstrate how you row the vehicle should you lose power? Other than the weight, what are the other specs? What is the expected U.S. price and the shipping costs? Does this come with a shop/mechanic's maintenance/repair manual? Finally, where do you get parts for this vehicle? A nice feature would be to have the vehicle recharge the batteries while coasting. You might want to contact Sono Motors, a Munich based Solar EV startup company. They incorporate solar panels on the various surfaces of the Scion EV. I believe they also sell solar panel kits to attach to vehicles. You may also want to check out the folks in the Netherlands who made the "Stella Vita", their solar camper van. You may get some ideas from or want to collaborate with this startup solar EV group. You can check out both on UA-cam.
Fantastic. I can see why you have so many pre-orders, but you missed a trick by not making that key fob a float. As a yachtsman, one of the biggest pains is dropping keys in the water..
Nothing ruins boats faster than "bigger" Not to say that applies to these specifics. Sure, more headroom, more length, because for sure if you make those changes there will be less wave action and wind.
I genuinely see the bigger cabin as a win-win: it's not as claustrophobic for users (I'm 6'1"), and the rigid cabin simpler to for them to build, not to mention lighter. But Drinking Star raised excellent points: where are the solar panels, and what kind of anchor will be included for boat mode?
V2 was fantastic and too good to be true. When I first saw it, I thought (as an engineer) how on earth they can produce this intricate details without huge investment or at a sensible price point. V3 now makes much more sense in terms producibility. And the good news is that original design feeling is still there and strong. Regen, reverse gear and walk assist are all nice additions and will be very very useful in real life scenarios and tours.
This is brilliant, it really is. If this would have been out 20 years ago when my family and I were younger, I would have bought two. so we could travel Europe together, or even further, instead of a SUV and a Caravan. What a great idea to enjoy life and preserve nature, I love it.
I loved the idea from the get go, but for that price there should be 200+ km od range, automatic water transformation without having to get off or get wet. Faster speeds are needed too. A lot of space for batteries. O yeah, where did the solar panel go? Why not charge it up while you are in the sun?
I wish I was involved in the creativity of your BeTron. I still see so many improvements that could be made with your working model. Like you and so many others, I always think out of the box. You've really accomplished quite a task!
I love the betriton, my only issue (which isn't a real issue) is i wish it had some ability to sail or otherwise be powered by the wind in it's boat mode. I understand sailing isn't as user friendly as a motorboat but it would be nice to have a sort of kayak style sail made for betriton and have it as an add-on
Looking better every time. Love how the govt speed limits bikes but not cars... which one kills people on a daily basis again? Would you ever consider a narrower one, that is within the 80cm width allowed on cycle paths?
Any considerations for a solar canopy? I can see the benefit especially for the driver on a sunny day. If not a solar canopy than perhaps a little umbrella slot or something of the sort. But Solar would be rad.
I love this "Bike" a lot, but wouldnt it be better if it would use a belt instead of a chain? Especially bc of the water aspect. Would love to see them irl and having the opportunity to buy one xD Wish you all luck!
Really nice improvements, I agree with the points made about the solar panels and solid doors with locks, my issue is with the inflatable pontoons. The only thing I can think of is to add flip down pontoon skids like a seaplane but that would add unnecessary weight and expense. It got me thinking about your self build option adding an outrigger would add stability to the boat. A solid roof that could flip down transforming into an optional sidecar or a stabilising pontoon would allow you to also add a sail to your boat version ( a kite sail is worth testing but probably too dangerous). All optional extras but the original design would have to incorporate built in attachment points. I started with a base model radrunner cargo bike that allowed me to add accessories over time that added practical storage.
Honestly, sliding cabin isn't all about aesthetics but security, if you are traveling on Asia/Africa/LatAm, you can sleep better on old sliding cabin, i hope it should be an opcional extra in a future
should include 2 cables or modify it that u can charge both batteries at same time without reducing charging power. No one wants to wait 16 hours. Also why not do window zipper so u can pull from inside add a little hook and a hole so no one can pull it from outside it would be a sturdy lock
I'm considering to buy it since I love it. There are 2 things I'd miss: solar panels and a cruise control function. Can we expect to get that as an option in future?
We will offer fold-out solar panels as an extra but currently not planning to integrate on the body of the product because there is not enough surface area. Regarding cruise control. We hear this request for the first time. We’ve never thought about it since you need to be alert while boating on lakes, rivers and canals. It’s not a boat to cross seas but this is well noted and if there will be more interest then will be considered in future iterations
Would be good to have the option to link them all together so that only the one in front has to drive or sail Then however many are linked together behind ( like train carriages) they can sit back and relax
21k$ is not that much for a small scale production. A handcrafted road bike (made in EU) get easy over 10k€. Without this size, without motor, without light, without suspension, without nearly anything that the BeTriton has.
This needs some modifications before I can justify buying. - From a security standpoint I really dislike that my valuables can be accessed by someone with a pair of scissors / knife (that window cover looks easily defeatable). Good to see you've since integrated blinds as that's an essential too. - Key and pins need to be bouyant (fiddly stuff in and around water will get dropped at some point). - The charging situation is a real concern for me. 8 hours to full on just one of the batteries? With the slow charge times, I don't even know if solar can help? If you can juice it back up through pedaling + solar + faster charging battery tech we could be on to something. But if you wanted to do long cross country trips you may be away from a charger for some time. - A less cumbersome way to convert to boat mode. - Belt driven makes more sense than chain for the water - Some heating and cooling solution Other than that you're on to something! .
I’d prefer not locking it with pad lock it should lock like a door. Also I wouldn’t mind being able to paddle the motor in water manually incase the battery ran out or failed. Seeing that it’s a boat, weight shouldn’t be an issue if the design can handle heavy loads it should have more battery. Would you be willing to also sell these cheaper if we build it ourselves as a kit? I don’t see why also that we couldn’t use it as a commuter bike. Lastly British canals are steep so it would be difficult getting in and out, I wish there was longer versions of the boat so you could just jump in and out. Lastly, submarine version ???
The previous iteration was arguably a bit overengineered and leaning hard into the whole tech-bro aesthetic, but this is looks just nice and practical.
I would give anything to get my hands on this thing. Sadly it's way to expensive for me. But I would unlock the full power maybe even a battery or controller upgrade that motor should do around 1500-2000 watts peak no? Add a solar setup some led strips it would be awesome 😎
Cool idea but for 20k I can get a motorized kayak, a bike, backpack, and tent and Id have 10k left and they would be a better version of all 3 elements. There are so many options for cheaper that are better individually, you'd just have to figure it out how to arrange them. You can buy a small house for this price.

I dont knwo man... ZERO insulation and not even a single solarpanel? Why? dude, take a look at our models, variations and specs on our website. Of course, we have a cabin version with a large solar panel - betriton.com/etrailer/
@@betriton Thats not large at all. In could easy fit a 100Watts more on the roof alone. And theres much more surface that couldve been paved with panels, there are such robust panels today you can even walk on. And there is way too much glass on this model, what makes bad insulation uns less surface for solar panels. Kite sails are not as insane as they sound. However there is lots of specialized hardware compared to a regular sail which can be rigged very simply.

You should offer a recumbent mesh seat for the bike part as an option, then it would be perfect.
