- My golden retriever Ellie and I head out in the snow to an amazing riverside camp for some time in our bike camper. We cook some great food, hike along the river and enjoy the beauty of the woods. We also make some improvements to our tiny wood stove.

OM goodness tho, I let out a Uupps out loud in the morning when Ellie nearly fell into the roaring creek due to her antics!!! I get it she was just being a golden, but My oh my, that scared me!! @@TinyCabinLifeif you dont mind, i do have a suggestion about your cabin.. you can modified your cabin by making it extendable, you can refer on match stick housing but it will extend sideways, in that case you can travel with your cavin with small space and can extend it to have additional space. You can make the roof made of rubber or some kind of tarpaulin to make ulit extendable... I hope you get the idea..
I like viewing these camping/bushcraft videos with dogs. The animals seem to have so much fun.

Well, I think the ocean waves and thunderstorms give it a run for it's money.
Goldens are pretty waterproof. But that water's a little high, so there might not be (m)any easy ways to get back to shore.

On a friendly note for future reference, just make sure you have a few towels along incase Ellie falls into the river. I almost panicked watching her almost fall in. She's beautiful...!!!

OMG Jack - I literally stopped breathing when I saw your precious Ellie almost roll into the freezing, fast flowing river. It was a close call. There but for the grace of God go us ALL, when we walk with our unleashed dogs.
I hugely respect your honesty in including that alarming footage in this upload. Many (probably most), UA-camrs would have edited it out, for fear of viewer criticism. But you chose to incIude it. That says a lot of good things about the remarkably decent, genuine person you are.
I know you and your family love Ellie very much. I also know you are people of sound values and integrity, and this video only confirms it. Thank God your canine companion came to no harm that day.
I will never get over the loss of my beloved dog. So please forgive me this emotional post. I confess I was shocked you had such confidence in Ellie, that you let her run and roll so close to that treacherous water, in Winter. As smart and strong, and wonderful and wise as she undoubtedly is, at the end of the day she is a dog. And as such, she is innately vulnerable.
As you said, 'Lesson learned'. I thank you so much for passing on that invaluable lesson to others.
I hope the incident will be a wake up call to us all, that eternal vulnerability resides in our pets. We should all regard our furry-friends as dependent babies, however smart, intuitive or mature in years they may be. They may not know it, but they rely on us to keep them safe.
When we take on a pet, we are granted the unique and eternal privilege, of being their parent/s, for their full lifespan. We are so blessed in that loving custodianship.

The simplicity of this type of camping and the ability to find places right near by to enjoy nature and it’s beauty is so appealing. I live on a 100 acres of forest land with a very active stream my dad and I years ago cut trails all about the property to access timber for our sawmill now I let my sons keep the trails clear for hunting access and just going out to hear and see the wildlife and not another soul. You’ve got another subscriber God bless you.

Hey Jack, thanks for this video- that was some site next to the river! It was so lovely to see Ellie doing her big explore, and then tucking in to her food before settling for a cosy snooze.Caught my breath when she rolled toward the water! Your Wintery hikes were lovely, all the more so for having a cozy cabin to come back to!
Jack, I have to tell you I lost my Darling man on boxing day, so the cabin time we had planned will now take place in a different way, by myself. He encouraged my growing love of time spent simply, and had started to build my own cabin before he got sick. My amazing circle of friends have offered to finish it for me, and I know he'd be happy for that.
So thanks again for the peace and serenity of your bike cabin river camp, and every blessing to you and your sweet family.

I totally get it, See I had the same mentality roughly coming up on 17yrs ago now... But now I know that the 1 that created that food that he's preparing, and the environment that he's in deserves all of the thanks that we can give Him... God is so good man! And No matter where you are, or where you've been He loves you, Right where you are... He says we can come to Him just as we are... With all of our flaws and everything... He does the changing. He will forgive you and help you in anyway that you need it. All we have to do is ask Him and He will show up... He wants to do it for you. He loves you brother, and so do I... Ellie has grey around the snoot and yet bounds about like a excited 1 year old dog . Testament to the diet..good dog food and exercise she gets and of course love . Just wonderful.

Greetings from East Tennessee! We just came through a few wacky weather days with high winds and way to much rain flooding and power outages in our area, especially the Gatlinburg and Smokey mountains! I am fine but being elderly makes it hard to get out. I LOVE this channel because i grew up camping. I love Jack, Riley and Olivia but Ellie is always so special!!! And I've said it before on this channel...i always just ate plain scrambled eggs and didn't know what I was missing! I throw anything I can find in them now thanks to.jack!! Leftover Chinese is the best!

Great video as always! One aspect of camping that I personally love is the COOKING! Honestly, I always associated camping with food (grilled marshmellows!, Steak on a fire (OMG!)). So just wanted to let you know that cooking is one aspect I especially love about your channel, and how organic it is!
