You're spot on buddy. Buy pellets in bulk when you hit the right one. Even better is all boxes with the same batch/production number because there can be difference if you buy a few boxes at one place and than some boxes on an other place or some months later. My R9/HW80 shoot the best with JSB jumbo 15,89gr and 5.52 head size. Beeman/Weihrauch air rifles like a tight fit. Keep in mind that normal domed pellets are mostly more accurate than hunting pellets, and with the right shot placement on small game there is no big need for a pellet that is expending just a little bit more than a normal domed pellet. Accuracy is always the most important. If some of you guys are new into the break barrel shooting never start to test pellets but learn to shoot a springer first. You can't test pellets if you don't know how to shoot a springer. Buy to begin with those pellets that others use with good results in reviews and start from there. JSB and some other brands offer "test" boxes with different model pellets with different weights and head sizes. There can be a big difference in accuracy if you use the same pellet in 5.5, 5.51, 5.52, ore 5.53 millimeter head size. This can save you a lot of money with those test boxes.....Cheers!
@@SilverSurvival Thanks mate, that's why we are here for, share knowledge and experiences. Many can spend their money only once on an air rifle than it should be a good one.... Unfortunately there are to many sponsored b.s vids here on YT, but i can tell right now, you can't go wrong with a HW. I own the most HW springer models and they are top of the line German quality made air rifles made to last a lifetime. Cheers!
Ok for me my hw99s and Diana 34 are my go to rifles. The 99s is paired with a 4-12-50ao scope and shoots really well with h&n field target trophy’s in.22 My Diana 34 is paired with a 3-9-40 hawke fast mount. And loves .177 re superdome. I bulk buy 10 tins at a time and currently have 15 tins of each. Even with my slingshots I stock up on lead shot and steel ammo. And always make sure I’ve got 10 band sets and enough making material to last a few years.
Very nice selection there. I have several slingshots, and also use lead shot from time to time, and also several bandsets and plenty of material to make new ones. My Simpleshot Hammer is my favorite. Thanks for watching and the comment.
@@SilverSurvival I got a few my favourite is the ppmg infact I’ve got 4 of the same one in my survival bag and one in each of my hunting jackets. I got the simple shot hammer slingbow too. But not really used it.
Thanks for the tip! I have all of these around anyway. I have other air rifles that prefer the JSBs, etc. And I’m in the USA, but I think I’ve seen pellet test sets here as well. Thanks for watching!
I use the Crosman Premier HPs for every rifle just to know where they will group. That are ubiquitous in my area and I also find that I can get effective results in most of my guns. I have been getting nice results with JTS pellets, though that are double the cost of the Crosmans that are consistent and clean. I also like that HN has multiple head diameters in .22.
Yep! Those Crosmans almost win out in every pellet selection exercise. And they are half the cost of the rest. I keep a large hoard of the Crosmans just in case I run out of my other pellets. I’ve seriously seldom had a gun that doesn’t shoot them acceptably well for hunting accuracy.
I enjoy using the crosman hollow points as well for my air rifle they can be very accurate to long distances in good weather and even tho they have doubled in price they are still the best bang for my buck. Definitely grateful i didn't have to spend more to get the same results
Very nice. My pcps both prefer the Crosman Premiers. No surprise since they are Benjamin Marauders. They typically like the Crosman. Thank you for watching and the comment. I really appreciate it.
Probably, five pellets alone are required just to lead in the barrel for each of the different test pellets. This is what I have found with any air rifle. Each pellet manufacturer has a different lead content make up, and it's surprising how it can make a huge difference. Leading them in for each brand is definitely a required practice in my 50 years experience with air rifle ammo. I can also hear quite a 'twang' in your rifle. It definitely needs a strip down and a heavier grease applying to the spring to eliminate it, and it will also definitely improve the rifle. Check out your fellow countrymans channel of 'Pellet and Pistons'. A great channel for anyone who enjoys spring or piston powered air rifles. He has several videos on strip downs of various rifles to eliminate that buzz. I'm quite enjoying your videos. 😊👍.
Great advice. I’m aware of the re-leading requirement. But it would have been a 60 minute video to go through the same processes with the same result. I’ve still got to get to the re-greasing. I like the gun to be well shot in before the first tear down and lube tune. Also, be aware that the microphone is on my shirt, right by the rifle….but I’ll concede that it’s too twangy ATM. Thanks for watching and your thoughtful comment!
I’ll look into that. It’s not as loud as it is in the video (the microphone is right by the gun) but it is a raspy zing. Thank you for watching and your advice! I appreciate it appreciate it.
Great job and video. You've put serious effort into it. Have you tried shooting slugs? My Benjamin 342, using a Nikon Red Dot, likes the H&N Sport HP Slugs , (.22 cal, 5.5 mm, 21gr). By comparison a .22 short rim fire weighs 29gr. The air rifle shoots the slugs better than pellets. I can see it at the target and actually feel it in the rifle. The Crosman pellets seem to spiral to the left or right and were never consistent. It might be because the 342 has a rifled barrel. It's just what I've observed. I can hit a squirrel at 40 yards.
Yeah good timing as someone else said😄I was actually searching for videos like this earlier today, I haven't tried anything other than the premium pellets on my rifle, happy with them but good to have cheaper alternatives too. Feel free to check out the video I posted today with the gamo speedster🤠
Most of my rifles seem to really like H&N Field Target Trophy, sometimes get marginally tighter groups in my HW95K with Baracuda FT's, but it's so close it doesn't matter, and you get 500 in the FTT's rather than 400 in a tin of FT's in .177
Do I see a picatinny rail adapter over the Dove tail of the R9/ hw 95 ? How’s it hold zero any better? My hw 95 isn’t fussy with pellets and shoots most things very well, my tx200 is fussy and likes h&n hornets (expensive) and barracuda 18 g Great content 👍🏻
With the Athlon scope or the Vortex scope, and good rings, it holds zero the same either way. That’s a +10 MOA adapter. I just have it on there because I switch that scope out from time to time, and don’t have a set of 11mm rings that fit the 30mm scope tubes. Thanks for watching and the comment.
Question,,, i was target practicing, and the sound the gun made was like a 22 . It had never done this before nor after. The shot on target was the same..
Had you recently oiled the barrel or pellets? If you had, I suspect dieseling. At short distances, you won’t have a big difference in point of impact. Thanks for watching and the question!
Little off topic, and please accept my comment with a grain of salt, your hw95 grouping at 20 yards using any pellet brand is below average if not poor taking into consideration the price of the rifle and the brand name it carries. No offence but my plastic gamo swarm whisper .22 does a dime size 10 shot group at 25 yards using AA 16 grain pellet and it cost me 140$, and it is a 10 shot repeater. Am i missing something here?
First, thanks for watching and the feedback! I really to appreciate the feedback. I had a generation 1 Gamo Whisper and a Gamo Fusion, both in .177 and they both shot very well. Did you watch the entire video, or did you skip to see the end result? The bad groups were kind of the point of the exercise, and the expected result, given the lack of re-leading the barrel between groups. Those are 1” targets, and the 2 selected pellets printed single hole groups, when you remove my shooting errors.
Well in my HW77K SE, it would be either Bisley Magnums or HW FTs - both are around (.177) 10.65 - 10.6 grns. My old girl will put 10 or 20 of these through a hole not bigger than a 5 pence coin (UK)🥰🥰As for myself I try and keep between 3000 - 4000 rds (plus similar number in .22)😉
I was wondering if all you folks have an idea of a preferred calibre for "survival", vs. General 'plinking' or target shooting? I was thinking that .22, or larger, might be preferred against mid-sized game, or, in the unfortunate case, "human pests", since, like it or not, the totally-unprepared will be awfully thirsty, or cold, in just a few days of blackout, or some cyber attack that takes out electricity and /or communication infrastructure?
As you’ll see in my “Budget Friendly Survival Air Rifle” series, both calibers are equally lethal on all game. I’ve killed hogs with a single .177 pellet. Deer would also be fairly easy to kill with a .177. Of course that wouldn’t be legal, but in a SHTF scenario, I don’t think you’re going to have a game warden bugging you much for feeding your family. It’s truly shot placement, and .177, .22 .25 will all do the job, as long as you do yours. Thanks for watching, and the good question.
dont count at it that pellets of the same size and type will be the same . because factory`s will make them at different machines and dies . and lead is not always the same . and the gun will also change in time

If your in the uk The Wolfman store do tester packs of 50 pellets per pack instead of buying whole tins that don’t suit your rifle.
