Blackthorn's claims are based on the real life Treaties of Torsedillas (1494) and Zaragoza (1524) which still served to define the principle spheres of influence between Spain and Portugal at the time Blackthorn reaches Japan. The Japanese power elite mostly viewed the "Southern Barbarians" as convenient trading partners who served as middlemen between Japan and China, as those two powers weren't on friendly terms especially after the (repelled) Japanese invasion of Korea a few years prior to Blackthorn's arrival. The realization that European nations weren't just curiosities and trade partners but also aggressive imperialists eventually shifted Japanese attitudes towards more isolationist policies (among other reasons).
When Taiko got near death, he got crazy and he decided to fight with China. On the process , they had to go through Korea. Everybody against Taiko's idea thought , nobody managed to persuade him.
Japanese previous a head of samurai knew the earth was spheres. He had a spinning globe. His name is Nobunaga ODA who was a meritocracy and a master of Taiko, belonged to Peasant.
hated Episode 2. It veered away from important details and storylines in the book and nothing can ever beat the book. new Blackthorne a clown compared to 80's. ditto Alvito. (whom they ahistorically shaved as a Franciscan monk)
Shogun is really good! Excited to see future episodes

"Unless I win" isn't arrogance, it is more a defiant spirit. With the Council against him, Toranaga understand that mindset needed to survive.

Nice Horde shirt!
This is great partially my argument as to why avatar casting is so horrible and filming
Excellent dialogue writing, I must say. Minimalist, but conveys the story and a lot more.
