The 1930s & 40s saw their HUGE share of War, Famine, Depression, Disease and Social Strife like every era. I LOVE how their music aspired to transport listeners to a surreal, romantic, fantasy sphere filled with love, class, whimsy and style! Even when they sung the Blues, it was soul stirring and soothing in its own way. Now, music is mostly crass, devoid of talent, culture, limited in scope and lacking GOOD VIBES. I will always seek out retro, old school, classic entertainment! NO modern versions, reinterpretations, reboots, or modern translations. It strips artistic creations of their Heart & Soul. Thank You for posting.
I was born in 1938, so pretty much missed the music of the 1930’s. Then as I grew up on a small farm without electricity, I began to listen to music on a battery operated tabletop zenith radio and enjoyed the music of the 1940’s. Finally when I was about nine years old we got electricity and my parents could stop saying “Turn off that radio! You are going to run down the battery!” Not only music, I listened to The Lone Ranger, Sky King, Let’s Pretend, and several other programs for children. Ah, those were the days !
@Steph Troughton. Yes! The first song is WONDERFUL! This is my first time listening to this selection of Pax41 and am just loving each song. This is going into my playlist! 🎶💕🎶👍😊
Makes me want to slow down, and ask "what's the rush?" It also feels like I'm in some movie and I'm about to ask someone if they want to dance. This is good music to fall asleep too.
TRACK TIMING: 00:00 [1] Jolly Coburn - Irresistible - vocal by Harold Van Emburgh 03:03 [2] Jack Denny & His Orchestra - Starlight - vocal by Rob May 06:22 [3] Don Bestor & His Orchestra - Somewhere In Your Heart - vocal by Neil Buckley 09:32 [4] Leo Reisman & His Orchestra - Afterglow - vocal by Larry Stewart 12:48 [5] Rudy Vallee - Don't Play With Fire 15:53 [6] Morton Downey - Love Is A Dreamer 18:40 [7] Richard Himber & His Ritz Carlton Orchestra - Monday In Manhattan - vocal by Stuart Allen 21:49 [8] Jerry Freeman & His Orchestra - That's What You Mean To Me 24:32 [9] The California Ramblers - I'll Never Forget I Love You - vocal by Ted Wallace 27:39 [10] Lane's Dance Orchestra - My Shawl - vocal by Dick Robertson
I love this set ! Great lyrics , in every one and great vocalists too - not to mention the orchestrations. Especially like tracks 4, 5 and 10, but this preference does not detract from the others. They are all so good. Thank you for sharing.
Wonderful! Quite another epoch! The gliding fox-trots…Then the almost futile but desperate will and wish to think of other things than the recent Great War, the Hunger Protest Marchés, and the threatening miseries of the totalitarian regimes with their cruel simplistic intolerance. Two decades of « the little man », the gentle soul wishing to be left alone, if only to enjoy what little there might be left for him and for her beside the bawling snarling rule of dictators on the one hand, and the sad incompetence of our democracies. Yet, thanks to most valiant hearts of many of ‘the common man’ and the stout-hearted clairvoyance of unbeaten determination of certain great men to see through the coming Hell, ordinary unpretentious but resolute men and women would see victory over that Hell, yet to try again…to have ‘another go’ at winning the peace…
I am LOVING THIS!! 🥰💕🎶😁 Must somehow move this to the top of my Pax41 playlist. Thank you so much for this one. I am nearing the end of my work shift, Midnight, and hope that I will have enough internet reception to listen to it again. Great music!!
The song I ll never forget I love you remind me 2 tracks of the Beatles, when he sings I ll never forget I love you, the love you is the same as Paul McCartney on PS I love you. And the solo piano is very close to not a second time of Lennon. Wondering if they were listening this back in time
Bob, it is not strange that you have enjoyed with this set so much. Every song is a delight. As you say Vallee’s Don’t Play With Fire is awesome and what can I say of My Shawl??
I like Rudy in general but there are several from this period by him, this one included, that I think are exceptional. Hope you have a great weekend and thank you as always for being super subscriber and may I even say friend. 😊

Great in 1940s, even better in 2022, we need a little calm and relaxation in these sad, sick times!

Listening from DUBAI UAE SEPTEMBER 2022
cool thanks for this type of music 🎶😎🎧
love this kind music to go with my fathers Vintage car collections on car shows..
Well, the title of this, alone, certainly sums it up accurately.
Am I the only 13 year old who loves this kinds of music?
Nope lots of them post comments here and on my Pax41 Music Time Machine channel. See the most popular video on each channel for those comments.
I'm 14 and am obsessed w it lmao
@@loisroberts545 keep it up! You're heading somewhere good with it.
I did when I was 13 too! Long before UA-cam existed.Great taste buddy!
Aight I'm 16 now and I still love it
Beautiful music! I remembered this type of tunes after watching cartoon shows like Silly Symphonies ... 👍👍
Soooooooo

Thank You!

Sé fuerte y valiente! ¡No tengas miedo ni te desanimes! Porque el Señor tu Dios te acompañará dondequiera que vayas
As always, Thank you very much!
Old music like that is so relaxing
Lovely stuff! The Himber side is one of my favorites from that band. I like the Freeman record -- new to me.
Has to be one of my favorite Himber's too, close between it and What A Difference A Day Makes.
I love this set ! Great lyrics , in every one and great vocalists too - not to mention the orchestrations. Especially like tracks 4, 5 and 10, but this preference does not detract from the others. They are all so good.

One of my favorite Rudy songs and he made a lot but this whole performance is just great. Glad you liked them too Walter.

THANK YOU FOR A PLEASANT INTERLUDE OF YOUR CHARMING MEMORIES FOR ME TO ENJOY AND REMEMBER :)
Welcome and hoping you are doing okay sir!
Ich erinnere mich, wie ich diese Lieder gehört habe, als sie zum ersten Mal mit meinen Kameraden herauskamen
again, lovely playlist :)
Glad you liked it and more to come, stay tuned and thank you for watching!
Calm and relaxing, for sure. Thank you.
Of course and Rudy makes it the best.
I'm running away.
Where are you running away to ?

Monday in Manhattan is superlatively good. Peter Mintun does great version of it to (it's here on YT). It's a Himber composition btw.
Mmm, it's good music, but a bit too energetic/upbeat for me to describe it as calm and relaxing. Do you have an even lower/slower collection?
Listen to the ink spots
Where did you find somewhere in your heart? I've been looking for it everywhere!

A buddy asked me when the war will be over. We'll be home before Christmas, says I.
2018, still listening.
Hope you are enjoying this music too Katie!
2020 still listening 😊😊
Trying to return to a simpler time, but blasted with blaring, crude ads after every song! Boo!
i know this comment is seven months old, but if you skip to the end of the video and press replay, you'll get no ads
:20 HOPPER?!
Morton Downey's voice is so feminine.
The kind of music that made me realize i was born in the wrong generation
The irony is that there was no UA-cam back then.
Opino igual.un viaje de fin de semana a un club a escuchar esto en vivo y volver. Quien se apunta?
