This song was arranged ,written and produced originally by the late great and legendary multi-instrumentalist Walter “Junie” Morrison who came up with the sung after purchasing a ARP Soloist synthesizer keyboard in New York City. It is said that Junie looked at the synthesizer and it said Arabian worm to him therefore he developed the sung in the studio with him playing all the parts of the Granny etc From the funky genius mind of Junie
@1200killer The original synth used in the 1972 recording was an Arp Prosoloist according to several sources on the web. It appears on this video that he's using the Yamaha Motif to do the worm sounds and the Casio to do the horns.
Thank you I thought I seen something that said Billy passed away he will be missed but he was always fly to me. I guess that leaves Diamond the last original OP member.
@NewShimmer For anyone who wants to experiment with the sounds of the Arp Prosoloist, there is a digital emulation of that synth called the Pro SoloVST. An English Company called AM music makes it. There's a free demo version, but the full version is only 25 GBP.
I'm almost certain that there's also FOSS that can do that emulation as well. I run Linux distros so in many instances, I end up paying little or nothing at all for DAW and a VST
Yo funk isn't my generation but I'm still listening to this in 2020 knowing my dad Youngstowns own dj stan the man was apart of ohio players at 1 time this man use to come to my church so ik this man can really get down on them keys like I was just a kid in church but ik this man when i see him
Look Billy Beck is absoloutly killin' it ! Even tougher than the original. Is Billy back with the players or is he still with Zapp? I'm old school & a Dj I remember the other side of the single was Paint Me! Yeah! I never caught the Players Live. but I have seen Billy with Zapp 3 times.
i saw the ohio players with everyone except sugarfoot at the solano county fair in vallejo and they were wayyyyyyyyy better than this. billy here was playing and singing better with them too. they were probably the tightest thing i've ever seen, better than any rock band i've seen. i have seen a few videos of sugarfoot with his "new" ohio players and they just don't compare at all. thanks for coming to vallejo billy and i hope you come down with the rest of the ohio players to norcal soon!
By the time you saw this he was coming out of rehab. Almost Lost His Life To Addiction. Thanks TocSatch Dropping Powdered Sugar On Those Funksters & Billy tell it, they weren't the same in a yrs time. satan does it every time
A musical instrument is a tool in the hands of a person that's using it. The Casio might not project a ' professional ' sound. Yet as far as I am concerned, in the hands of the very capable hands of Mr Beck that Casio is making great music
he's playing three distinctively different KEYBOARD parts! plus singing three different parts.............that's PURE GENIUS!!!!!!
que dice este wachin? quiere que le pegue?

Still funky after all these years, but what's with the plants? It looks like they're playing in a funeral parlor or nursing home.
