Hello Nikol... I just watched this video and was immediately impressed. It is so refreshing to find a fellow Gen Xer who is also embracing going gray at an early age and is addressing it by providing make up tutorials on how to make the best of it. Far too long women, unlike our male counterparts, have been denied the right to age gracefully. Like you, I was born a dark brunette who started graying right after my 18th birthday. Over 10 years ago before Easter, I stopped coloring my hair, mostly out of laziness, and discovered a full head of shiny silver underneath my faux color. When a male co-worker commented on how beautiful my "new" color looked, I never went back. I am so glad that you are showing how gray/silver is just another color and that women can still rock it with the right make up and hair style. Thank you so much.
I love these shades of lip color. I am a cancer survivor and lost my dark hair from chemo. My hair grew back gray much like your shade. I have been trying to figure out what shade lip color to wear and this has helped me greatly. Thank you so much!!

Hi Nicole. Im brown in complexion with curly grey hair. I had lost my desire to do anything concerning clothes and makeup. Its just too much effort in my already busy life. My children keep telling me to paint my nails, put on some eyeshadow,, lipstick etc. Really, I couldnt be bothered. Well, today I got a shock. My daughter arrived from Germany and she brought with her some really nice lipsticks which she forced me to try. Guess what? I was blown away. The lipstick colour just brightened up my somewhat dull face. She showed me a picture of myself taken a few months back and Ive got to admit that i didnt look great. I realise that Im going to have to put in some effort. And I think I will start with the great colour lipstick my daughter has gifted me. Thank you for showing how different colour lipsticks really do make a difference.
Nikol, Thank you so much for doing these videos for the mature women who still have the desire to put color to their face and letting us know that it IS NOT inappropriate for us to wear color. People need to realize that as the population of women become older we have the desire to stay away from our mother’s generational ideas of beauty.

I remember having a color consult and bought their product like 30 yrs ago. Now I'm a cool with grey hair. I think 30 yrs ago my hair was light brown when I had the consult and believe it was "warm" tones but not now.
I agree. No matter what your hair color, the undertone of your skin never changes. I was a “Winter” 30 years ago and I still am today. I love the fact that Nikol is also a Winter because I can be confident that the makeup colors that look good on her will also look good on me. I tend to follow the majority of beauty influencers who are also Winters for the same reason. Nikol is gorgeous and does a great job.
Great info! I'm a greying redhead with ruddy skin tone, so I have ALWAYS had a hard time finding the right color, and when I do it is always discontinued. I tend towards the shearer colors, so I'm happy you showed us those as well! Thank you
I swear by those Chanel lipglosses, I have about 5 and they are worth every penny imo. I sometimes try others because the Chanel ones are a bit pricey but always go back to them. I’m tempted by the Fenti gloss bombs too. Great video, thanks so much :)

Agreed you are more gorgeous in some colors than others and that there is a harmony with some colors and gray hair. As a strawberry blonde whose gray is actually vanilla blonde I still wear my same lipsticks. My color choices are all about my skin tone as my haircolors go with my skintone and so do my lipsticks. My peachy coral, apricot and peachy rust lipsticks have always gotten lots of compliments and still do. I find I use more cream makeups at 71 and carry around a little stack of pots of color.
Hello, thank you for show. alots of advice that I love hearing. How about peach fuzz on face. What would you suggest on getting rid of it. Also my skin is tan. I'm Native American. What kind make would you suggest for me? I started going silver when 21. I had on streak going down on right side of my head. It is now spread wider and rest of my head salt and pepper. Definitely feeling you on this. I used to love corals and oranges so much with my dark hair, but as you noted, anything yellow based looks terrible. There are a couple metallic bronze colors from Estee Lauder that used to look so nice that I've reworked a little by layering them with a nude lipstick.But yeah...I have several lippies in the drawer I just need to admit are done and say goodbye! I find, for me, anything from deep cranberry to shocking pink, to pale pinky nude work. Anything with a blue base. This was a great video...I'm sure you have helped many with it! And I love the Spicy Mauve.

I went silver about 7 years ago, it took me 2 years to go through the no dyeing process and I still getting used to it. I have lots of natural curls, and it only looks good on the first day. I love all your postings I have seen so far. It is very encouraging. I need it often because I struggle not knowing anymore how to put on make-up or dressing to my type. I cannot relate to the person I am seeing in the mirror. I gained weight, I adjusting my eating habits to lose weight, it just takes longer than I like to lose it again.. I never had any issues with it, so I am on new grounds all the way around. Now, the models in your postings all have beautiful eyes, what I mean with that is, no hooded eyes. I have hooded eyes now, and I am not satisfied with how my eyes look and often have a hard time putting on my eyeshadow. Sometimes I do really good, but usually, I am like (not good). Can you get some models that have hooded eyes and show us what you would do with those? I have seen many postings on UA-cam, and I like yours the best. I hope you have some models soon and help me to end my hooded eye struggle.

Disagree with staying away from reds. Red is elegant with the darker gray hair, just a gloss or a balm, not a heavy application or matte finish. Red is the best color for the evening.

For me, it helps to have a plain white shirt on when choosing lipsticks. Also the eyeglass frames that work for me are the same color as the lipsticks that flatter my skin tone (roses, muted pinks, etc.)
I was blonde..short and quite curly..for about 12 years. Kept my make up very natural. I got into heavy metal and went blue/black and straight...and longer hair. Gooooorge.😜 But....... alwaaaays....loved red hair - cos you can wear more vibrant colours. My hair is presently and for a few years..long..curly ...with.soft red/gold with balliage gradually being tinted out of it. Deep cherry tint was done on it too..loooovely. I am seriously.. not going to fight my greys much longer and at 61...am going to carefully have my hair changed back to the short..blonde..bubbly style. The reason I changed it years ago..was because I was just indentified as that hair colour¡¿¡😆 I have the big advantage now though of....wearing different colour wigs - as I am a Mimic/Singer/Entertainer....which means I can always enjoy many and varied colours in make up for my characters. Nikol. YOU are...and have been very brave and it has paid off..for you are a very STUNNING LADY !!! 🤩🤗 Thankyou for what you do....loooove your caring approach both to others and yourself. Speaking of summer, suddenly we in Seattle are suddenly having to deal with very hot weather (for us). And what's more fun in 80+ degrees and 80% humidity than getting acne and hot flashes at the same time? Having all your BB cream, etc. melt off! Since you mentioned you live in a tropical climate, could you do a segment on looking put together during that kind of weather? Or link to a video you've already done that addresses those issues? Let’s see: in my 72 years I have been a tow head, a blonde, a platinum blonde, a frosted blonde, a redhead, and now silver gray! As an adult each hair color needed different lipstick! My green eyes made purple based eyeshadow fine throughout. But the LIPS! Lol Right now I’m loving Charlotte Tilbury’s PILLOW TALK which is a nude more pink than brown. I have an old Revlon coral (discontinued) that I adore. And I’m looking for a “red.” It’s really quite interesting to see how colors change on us!!! BTW: YOU are just a SMASHING looking woman!!So striking and regal!
I am allowing my hair to go gray and I still have mostly brown but it is going to get there. I agree with those first 2 colors you applied. They did not look good. I am glad that I have already started to turn towards ones that are more red or pink.
My hair is silver and my eyebrows are dark blonde. My lips are naturally more plum so anything pale like the rhubarb lipstick tends to be more of a nude for me. I love a red lipstick, more of a blue-red than a coral red, I love plum lipsticks and pinks have to be raspberry rather than sugary colours.

This is not indicative of every woman so the colors that may look wishy washy on you may look totally different on another person with a different skin tone regardless of whether your hair is gray or not. It is only going to work if the person has the same skin tone as you. I have dark skin so the colors are going to look totally different on me because my lips are also darker
Hi Nikol. Thank you for the advice and you are so correct. I used to be auburn and highlighted my hair. Now that I'm older, my natural hair is coming in like my dads which looks like yours. But, I keep coloring because I'm afraid of the black and white hair because my skin has the fair warm tones. Can you help me to figure out what to do. When my roots grow out, my natural hair is so beautiful white and shiny mixed with the black, but, I'm so scared of the dramatic change. Sorry I'm asking a hair question on your lipstick video.

I was wondering if you could offer some info on brow color. Yours are still very dark naturally which is the color mine used to be. Since Ik went gray, my brows also lightened and became very thin. I have such a hard time finding the right brow color to fill in! M Y hair is short, black looks to dark, although it looks great on you, and browns don't go with the dark "pepper" in my hair. Any advice?
You didn't ask me, but use those plumpers and line your lips just a TINY bit outside the natural area, then fill in. DO NOT MAKE "NEW LIPS " WITH LIPSTICK. I would keep it natural and your natural lip shape.
I have natural slightly yellowish teeth which - they have never been white looking at all, sadly. However, they are extremely healthy and strong and I am not going to ruin healthy teeth to have them filed and get veneers just for looks. That much is certain. But what lipstick should I use to make them seem more white? Especially now that I too am going gray?
Nichol, This is not a question about lips. i want to know what moisturize you use. i cleanse, use a toner, then moisturizer. then my makeup. same at night. cleanse. tone, moisturizer. but i like a moisturizer with serum. i’m about to go gray. i want to get all of my skin cleanser and makeup right. I was a natural blond when I was young; then frosted. THEN I was a redhead! Now, silver with darker grey in back! WOW! Practically NOTHING I wore as a redhead can I wear now! I’ve tossed and rehoused many lipsticks. I’ve splurged on a few high end (a pink nude matte that I put a gloss on, a lovely soft red I can build, a wine) and some drugstore finds for fun.i use the same nude liner for all: a high end one. Truth is, if I wasn’t such a lipstick junky I could have just bough 4-5 high end lipsticks and called it a day! Lol I wish plumping worked for me. My lips are immune! Lol 🌹
This is an old (but valuable) that I somehow missed. I have the hardest time with lipstick in general (no put-off scent and consistency) and lipstick colors. I’m gray now but was always a “dirty blonde” naturally before. Cool to neutral skin tone but makeup never states what skin tones it is formulated for …

Gosh I remember a teacher I had in university who had silver hair exactly like you and with your hairstyle, and she was about your age too and just as gorgeous as you were, and I remember getting a girl crush on her and couldn't stop looking at her because it was the first time i had ever seen a woman embrace her grey so young, and for some reason (because it was so new to me) I thought she was older than she was but that she looked way younger than her age! I want to confuse people that way too when i go fully grey! You and her and other women who have gone grey and rocked the look have encouraged me to keep my virgin hair and allow these grey hairs to grow out (they've been growing out one by one since my early twenties). Thank you for not fitting in and making the absolute best with your appearance!

You also have to take into account how white your teeth are. If you still have your natural colour teeth and you’re getting older some tones of lipstick make your teeth look yellow or beige...yuk. So if you don’t artificially whiten your teeth or have a mouth full of stark white veneers and are of a “certain age”, be careful.
I think you can still wear the coppers, golds, browns, and nudes if you were wearing warm neutral blouses and tops, and didn't have any yellowing in your gray hair. ( it doesn't look yellowed, but I've seen many heads that do.).
I wonder what is your undertone? I am having trouble with colours because I have a yellow undertone, and I should really be wearing warm colours but they clash with my grey hair. 🙄 Any thoughts?
No matter how many times I look at your hair, I can't help but love it! It's absolutely gorgeous. :) I've transitioned also, with a subtle salt and pepper, I currently sport a very short urchin/pixie cut. I can't wait for a stronger tone of silver to come in... then I will think about growing it out into the length that you have. You have a very nice natural colour and cut.

I went silver about 7 years ago, it took me 2 years to go through the no dyeing process and I still getting used to it. I have lots of natural curls, and it only looks good on the first day. I love all your postings I have seen so far. It is very encouraging. I need it often because I struggle not knowing anymore how to put on make-up or dressing to my type. I cannot relate to the person I am seeing in the mirror. I gained weight, I adjusting my eating habits to lose weight, it just takes longer than I like to lose it again.. I never had any issues with it, so I am on new grounds all the way around. Now, the models in your postings all have beautiful eyes, what I mean with that is, no hooded eyes. I have hooded eyes now, and I am not satisfied with how my eyes look and often have a hard time putting on my eyeshadow. Sometimes I do really good, but usually, I am like (not good). Can you get some models that have hooded eyes and show us what you would do with those? I have seen many postings on UA-cam, and I like yours the best. I hope you have some models soon and help me to end my hooded eye struggle.

Disagree with staying away from reds. Red is elegant with the darker gray hair, just a gloss or a balm, not a heavy application or matte finish. Red is the best color for the evening.

I think deep cool brown with coral eyes looks good with grey hair. I trying am blue and lilac lipstick.

For me, it helps to have a plain white shirt on when choosing lipsticks. Also the eyeglass frames that work for me are the same color as the lipsticks that flatter my skin tone (roses, muted pinks, etc.)

I was blonde..short and quite curly..for about 12 years. Kept my make up very natural.
I got into heavy metal and went blue/black and straight...and longer hair. Gooooorge.😜
But.......
alwaaaays....loved red hair - cos you can wear more vibrant colours.
My hair is presently and for a few years..long..curly ...with.soft red/gold with balliage gradually being tinted out of it.
Deep cherry tint was done on it too..loooovely.
I am seriously.. not going to fight my greys much longer and at 61...am going to carefully have my hair changed back to the short..blonde..bubbly style.
The reason I changed it years ago..was because I was just indentified as that hair colour¡¿¡😆
I have the big advantage now though of....wearing different colour wigs - as I am a Mimic/Singer/Entertainer....which means I can always enjoy many and varied colours in make up for my characters.

Speaking of summer, suddenly we in Seattle are suddenly having to deal with very hot weather (for us). And what's more fun in 80+ degrees and 80% humidity than getting acne and hot flashes at the same time? Having all your BB cream, etc. melt off! Since you mentioned you live in a tropical climate, could you do a segment on looking put together during that kind of weather? Or link to a video you've already done that addresses those issues? And thanks for the link for the Stay Put lip liner!

Let’s see: in my 72 years I have been a tow head, a blonde, a platinum blonde, a frosted blonde, a redhead, and now silver gray! As an adult each hair color needed different lipstick! My green eyes made purple based eyeshadow fine throughout. But the LIPS! Lol Right now I’m loving Charlotte Tilbury’s PILLOW TALK which is a nude more pink than brown. I have an old Revlon coral (discontinued) that I adore. And I’m looking for a “red.” It’s really quite interesting to see how colors change on us!!! BTW: YOU are just a SMASHING looking woman!!So striking and regal!
Robin. Green eyes and you use purple eyeshadow? That is like giving yourself a black eye. Just use green to make your eyes even more beautiful.
I am allowing my hair to go gray and I still have mostly brown but it is going to get there. I agree with those first 2 colors you applied. They did not look good. I am glad that I have already started to turn towards ones that are more red or pink.

My hair is silver and my eyebrows are dark blonde. My lips are naturally more plum so anything pale like the rhubarb lipstick tends to be more of a nude for me. I love a red lipstick, more of a blue-red than a coral red, I love plum lipsticks and pinks have to be raspberry rather than sugary colours.

This is not indicative of every woman so the colors that may look wishy washy on you may look totally different on another person with a different skin tone regardless of whether your hair is gray or not. It is only going to work if the person has the same skin tone as you. I have dark skin so the colors are going to look totally different on me because my lips are also darker
Hi Nikol. Thank you for the advice and you are so correct. I used to be auburn and highlighted my hair. Now that I'm older, my natural hair is coming in like my dads which looks like yours. But, I keep coloring because I'm afraid of the black and white hair because my skin has the fair warm tones. Can you help me to figure out what to do. When my roots grow out, my natural hair is so beautiful white and shiny mixed with the black, but, I'm so scared of the dramatic change. Sorry I'm asking a hair question on your lipstick video.

I was wondering if you could offer some info on brow color. Yours are still very dark naturally which is the color mine used to be. Since Ik went gray, my brows also lightened and became very thin. I have such a hard time finding the right brow color to fill in! M Y hair is short, black looks to dark, although it looks great on you, and browns don't go with the dark "pepper" in my hair. Any advice?

You didn't ask me, but use those plumpers and line your lips just a TINY bit outside the natural area, then fill in. DO NOT MAKE "NEW LIPS " WITH LIPSTICK. I would keep it natural and your natural lip shape.

I have natural slightly yellowish teeth which - they have never been white looking at all, sadly. However, they are extremely healthy and strong and I am not going to ruin healthy teeth to have them filed and get veneers just for looks. That much is certain. But what lipstick should I use to make them seem more white? Especially now that I too am going gray?
Nichol, This is not a question about lips. i want to know what moisturize you use. i cleanse, use a toner, then moisturizer. then my makeup. same at night. cleanse. tone, moisturizer. but i like a moisturizer with serum. i’m about to go gray. i want to get all of my skin cleanser and makeup right. I was a natural blond when I was young; then frosted. THEN I was a redhead! Now, silver with darker grey in back! WOW! Practically NOTHING I wore as a redhead can I wear now! I’ve tossed and rehoused many lipsticks. I’ve splurged on a few high end (a pink nude matte that I put a gloss on, a lovely soft red I can build, a wine) and some drugstore finds for fun.i use the same nude liner for all: a high end one. Truth is, if I wasn’t such a lipstick junky I could have just bough 4-5 high end lipsticks and called it a day! Lol I wish plumping worked for me. My lips are immune! Lol 🌹
This is an old (but valuable) that I somehow missed. I have the hardest time with lipstick in general (no put-off scent and consistency) and lipstick colors. I’m gray now but was always a “dirty blonde” naturally before. Cool to neutral skin tone but makeup never states what skin tones it is formulated for …

Gosh I remember a teacher I had in university who had silver hair exactly like you and with your hairstyle, and she was about your age too and just as gorgeous as you were, and I remember getting a girl crush on her and couldn't stop looking at her because it was the first time i had ever seen a woman embrace her grey so young, and for some reason (because it was so new to me) I thought she was older than she was but that she looked way younger than her age! I want to confuse people that way too when i go fully grey! You and her and other women who have gone grey and rocked the look have encouraged me to keep my virgin hair and allow these grey hairs to grow out (they've been growing out one by one since my early twenties). Thank you for not fitting in and making the absolute best with your appearance!

You also have to take into account how white your teeth are. If you still have your natural colour teeth and you’re getting older some tones of lipstick make your teeth look yellow or beige...yuk. So if you don’t artificially whiten your teeth or have a mouth full of stark white veneers and are of a “certain age”, be careful.

I think you can still wear the coppers, golds, browns, and nudes if you were wearing warm neutral blouses and tops, and didn't have any yellowing in your gray hair. ( it doesn't look yellowed, but I've seen many heads that do.).

I wonder what is your undertone? I am having trouble with colours because I have a yellow undertone, and I should really be wearing warm colours but they clash with my grey hair. 🙄 Any thoughts?
No matter how many times I look at your hair, I can't help but love it! It's absolutely gorgeous. :) I've transitioned also, with a subtle salt and pepper, I currently sport a very short urchin/pixie cut. I can't wait for a stronger tone of silver to come in... then I will think about growing it out into the length that you have. You have a very nice natural colour and cut.
