This is absolutely the best how-to video I have seen. It was clearly done and explained very well. The video was clear, sharp, and excellent quality. I had no trouble making this repair on my Jeep thanks to you! I saved an estimated labor charge of at least $200 and saved money on buying my own parts. I didn't have to pay for towing my vehicle to the shop either. Thank you so very much!

Spot on and ditto; I don’t turn a wrench but due to the video tutorial I accomplished the same and I would estimate labor 400-600 in California.

I watched it a few weeks back, thought I recalled it all, got the parts off ok but was confused on replacement, his anticipation of that very thing is so useful. Many thanks, I rewatched the re install a few times. Jeep is 100% now. (where it used to be "maybe I'll start...maybe I won't")

Very well done video and explanation. I've been dreading doing mine the last 2 or 3 months but your video really helped rid my dread. The "sweet spot" no longer works, so I'll be tearing mine apart to see which component is bad. Probably just replace both while in there. Many thanks for a well shot video and clear concise instructions.

Tackled this project this morning as I really had doubts I could do this. Was pleasantly surprised to see my busted piece when I took it apart, but knew I wasn’t going to jump for joy until completely done. Much to my surprise, it all went back together thanks to this tremendous video. Thank you. Car has sat for 3 weeks as I piecemealed the parts online I guessed I would need. Guessed correctly. My tj was stolen around my birthday this year (parked by my workplace and didn't notice until Sept 28th, bday on th 25th) I did some things to "disable" it somewhat. To and from work I drive the back road to actively search for it. Finally one day to work in the morning I drove on the same back street I had already drive by before. This time as I looked left the colors red, white and blue caught my eyes. There it was! Stars and Bars!!! My Jeep has a soft top but I left the rear soft windows off and instead I secured the American flag to the sports bars. Skipping to the point of this video. Now the key turns to accessory and all dash light work and all however it won't crank over and start. I talked to people and it seems that it has same issue as yours. The same broken piece is most likely th culprit. Thank you for the upload.

Just replaced mine on my '05 TJ using these excellent instructions. Mine was broken in the cast area just like yours. The only thing you didn't mention was the fact that it would take me about 5 times as long to do mine than it took you. First delay was because after getting home with the parts I wondered why there was 2 sets of instructions in the box with the actuator pin assembly then finding that the key lock end of the plastic pin was already broken off. Another trip across town remedied that. Second delay was finding the small spring that shot off of the brass colored slider when it worked its way out of the slot. I'm glad I google the ignition issue when the key felt loose and found this video before I had to be towed. Thanks so much for making it. Keep up the good work.

Bruh...just had this happen to me today. Started up the TJ and stopped at the gas station 2 miles from my house. Filled up the tank and tried to start it. I had all the same symptoms. Got a ride from a buddy and went to Autozone to get both of those parts. Pulled out the actuator and it wasn't broken. Replaced it anyway since I had it removed. Replaced the ignition switch too, which was probably the culprit. Buttoned everything back up and it cranked right up. Thanks for the great video. ✌

Made it so much easier, I would add that his advice to replace the ignition switch as well is a step that SHOULD be taken, in my case the switch was bad AND the actuator was bad, I didn’t take the advice and got the switch after I discovered it still wouldn’t start. Spend the extra $20 and you wont have that moment of panic as I did when it didn’t start yet again. Great instructional video.

Thank you for the video!! My Jeep finally will start!!! Weeks leading up to it not starting my 2003 Jeep Wrangler would occasionally cut out while I was driving causing it to jerk and jump a little. It made a clicking sound when I turned and wouldn’t start the first try, then worked the second turn of the key for a week. Finally, It stopped making a clicking sound and lights on the radio light flickered when it wouldn’t start. I tried replacing the starter, checked the battery and replaced the clutch position sensor after reading post online. I saw your video and ordered a 20 dollar starter switch off of amazon and it fixed the problem! It starts right up and runs better than ever!! Thanks again for the explanation of how everything works. I had to get a screw driver and turn the sensor for everything to line up.

Your explanation, detailed steps along with the clear video was perfect. I had the exact same problem where one leg of the actuator pin was sheared off. Following your advice, I went ahead and replaced the ignition switch as well.
I Subbed! Keep up the great videos.

THANK YOU! excellent video. I had same issue replaced after testing and fixed problem. FYI oreilly auto has ignition switch for $20 and the Dorman pin actuator was $40. HATE those little security screws!!!

Thanks a million😊 I wasted the interlock trying to troubleshoot the ignition. The part was on sale for $14 delivered. The detailed explanation was very much appreciated. Not as simple as it looks.
