Soulcalibur on Dreamcast was always my favorite in the series, but you just have to give Soulcalibur II props for just how HARD it went with everything! It was the fighting game everyone loved, not just fighting game enthusiasts. There's so much single player content here that you can have fun with it forever and never once play against someone else. So good that I've owned and played all three versions.
Odd how we seem to be in a generation of nothing but remasters… and they haven’t brought this gem back. Put it on the Switch in HD with all 3 guest characters and online multiplayer then yeah I’m dishing out $60 no questions asked

Soulcalibur 2 Talim is my favorite design of the character, and she's undisputedly my favorite character from the whole series... When I was younger I wanted to be like her I wouldn't say she was my first video game crush but I definitely looked up to her Also what the hell you need more views this is really well made!
This game is still the best indeed. It is also the best in teaching you how to play properly. Playing that dungeon mode with every character to collect all the weapons, getting all the tasks done, still fun to do now. You learn to win under hard conditions like being poisoned. Many times you can only win using a specific move or technique. You learn how to do it because it is fun. No other fighting game ever got it that right.

Considering the HD Remaster on PS3 and 360 had both Heihachi and Spawn, Namco missed a huge opportunity making a definitive version on Wii U. The best selling Soulcalibur game was this game and it sold best on Gamecube so logically Namco decided to never make a mainline Soulcalibur game on a Nintendo system ever again.
It sold best on Gamecube because people wanted to play as Link in a "real" fighting game. That's literally the only reason -- once people realized he was actually pretty bad in SC and that Smash not only presents him properly, but is also a legit fighter in its own subgenre, the novelty wore off. inb4 "Smash isn't a real fighter": We've got 2D (example: Street Fighter), 3D (example: Tekken), Platform (example: Smash), and Arena (example: Budokai Tenkaichi) fighters.
This game is like peak PS2 area gaming -just a brilliant finished title on one disc. I feel like games really stopped trying to be art after a certain time.
Grow up, games have always been released as broken messes. You can crash the original version of Doom by _walking in the wrong place on E3M1._ You can force Mario 3 to send you to the end credits by bending its code over your knee. Sonic the Hedgehog (no, I have nothing to add, just pointing at the Genesis games because the glitches there are self-explanatory.).
Im surprised with the soundtrack section you didn't meantion Hellfire, its got such an amazing legendary into! Definitely a great game and a fun series. I also think of the Harvey Birdman "Lizardman, Lizardman, and uh Lizardman" joke, so it was great seeing you use it too. The intro to this game still gives chills and is still the coolest in the series i think.
Yunsung, I remember buying the official guide book and yunsung's soul calibur had a typo, making me think he was the strongest character in t he game. I learned later that Talim had a guaranteed ringout combo and Spawn on the xbox had a 1 hit kill move, you just couldn't get perfects with it cause you did some damage to yourself as well.

I highly recommend "BlazBlue Central Fiction", since that game is arguably just as complex as "Guilty Gear XRD Revelator," with the game like Revelator having legacy skill, meaning if you haven't stuck with the game since the original back in 2008 you have a MASSIVE hill to climb in learning frame data for each character's normals, gatlings, and overall mobility options that can be used on offense and neutral. Then there are the game's plentiful system mechanics, such as having a half a dozen options on defense that you need to master such as having four ways to block based on specific scenarios for example, and the game having a multitude of wake up options with each having a specific use, and that's not even going into the Drive mechanic, which is a unique action for each character, which there are OVER 35 of, which MOST of the cast plays VASTLY DIFFERENT from each other. Mainline BlazBlue games were HUGE in japan, with it being popular in many Japanese arcades, and as Obama stated in a podcast with Blasted Salami that the series had at one point been up there even with the almighty Tekken in terms of popularity. With many veterans like Dogura ( who is one of the best players in Guilty Gear who uses Slayer) and Fenrich ( who is arguably the best BB player, and currently one the best in DBFZ) representing the series for a long time . Sadly, The series just never took off over here in the west. However, the lack of popularity nationwide doesn't equate to the game's quality.The fact that is arguably the most unique AND complex 2D fighter on the market, but isn't talked about hardly at all in the west was always baffling to me. Especially when I read comments, and watch videos of people in the FGC complaining about how boring fighting games have gotten recently, or how easy it has become and yet will REFUSE to give the game a try. Thankfully, that seems to be changing, for instance Lord Knight, a tournament player who plays a variety of different fighting games recently made a fighting game tier list and put "BlazBlue Central Fiction" near the top, as well as popular Guilty Gear content creators like Obama saying on blasted salami's podcast that "BlazBlue Central Fiction" is arguably just as hard as Guilty Gear Xrd. For those who want to see high level game play in order to get a grasp of how hype this game can potentially be for you, I'd recommend a video titled "BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Grand Finals - Evo 2014" on youtube, and while the game represented there is not Central Fiction, I think it works, since Central Fiction is more of an evolution of Chrono Phantasma any way. Other channel's include "Burst Recap" and "Jourdal" for more high level Japanese play. Finally, BB TAG and mainline BlazBlue games are two SEPARATE things all together, with BBTAG having it's own set of rules with the system mechanics, and SIMPLIFYING ALL of the characters. It's for these reasons that you can't approach "BlazBlue Central Fiction" in the same way that you would BBTAG. What's cool about the BlazBlue series is even if you don't care about the complex game play there's STILL a lot of stuff to do in the games, with BBCF in particular having a TON of continent in it, with a story mode that takes DOZENS of hours to complete, and an RPG like mode that takes EVEN longer. All of this is in addition to all the things you can unlock, like music, character colors, and artwork from the developers. Heck, I even made a video titled "BlazBlue: Best Single Player Content In A Fighting Game?" that goes into more detail on all of this if any one's curious. This of course is just my two cents, and the metrics of what makes a great fighting game is going to VARY from person to person.

They obviously took heavy inspiration from SoulCalibur 2 with the sixth entry. And just retold the story in a new timeline. Only thing missing is the single player modes like weapon master where six has Libra of the soul and each characters specific stories. But 6 has create a soul and 2 doesn’t. So for me it cancels out cause I play more online anyways. Arcade mode you fight till you go up against inferno in both. Both have modes where you collect weapons in Libra of the soul and weapon master. Although weapon master has more variety in its battles but at least Libra doesn’t have the annoying dungeons. I do wish SCVI had more modes tho like team battle in SCII Soul Calibur 6 is mortal kombat 9 for the Soul Calibur series as it retells the first few games. But without the budget that modern mortal kombat games get.
In the days of the PlayStation Two my parents did not buy it for me. I kept my heart burned for it for years just so they could evade paying the money, and the problem does not end with me getting the console they must also pay for the games, and this game was among the five fighting games I wanted for the PlayStation 2 virtua fighter4, dead or alive2, tekken5, Soul Calibur 2, and WWE smackdown vs raw. At that time fighting games was only for the PS2, for the PC there was only WWF raw and its a peace of garbage infront of smackdown vs raw for the PS2. sonny created this wonderful gaming console to cause hatred and problems between us and our parents.
You would have really loved Tekken 4 and Mortal Kombat Deception (have to at least watch MK4 and MK DEADLY Alliance cutscenes for the story to make sense, but you should play both after MKD)
The literal goat. THE. goat. The game that teaches how to design fighting games that EVERYBODY plays. Simple mechanics that belie a deep game. Easy movement. Mash OR strategize. Easy to pick up. Difficult to master. Enough cool stuff happening and a good enough intro that anyone would want to jump in. The next game needs to follow this one’s lead.

I got this game for the Cube because it had Link on the cover. Needless to say, many Waifus were discovered that fateful [d]day. But nah in all seriousness, 3 also was mindblowing but 2 really scratched that "Tekken but what if everyone were as smart as Yoshimitsu" itch. And it features Yoshimitsu. I felt seen.
Since the very first Soul (Edge) game, the openings are certainly what grabs you by the neck and say: "Take this masterpiece, you scumbag!" Although the series has died to me, being 3 the last good one, I'm proud to have made a "concert" joining the best of the first (starting by Edge) four games, that I listen everytime I need some rev up in my mood!
I only played VI, I wonder if the remastered ones are available for PS4. I'm terrible at fighting games but I still love to play them. I like that this one also has some RPG elements to it.
I hate that they changed ivys move on sc3. I love sc2, the only fighting game i can say i really excelled. My fried and i can go on for hours and hours truing to get out win one another.

I imagine a Switch release with Link wouldn’t be too hard to pull off, but i imagine its because people would rather have BOTW Link in a SC2 remaster.
