Dude I was about to spend £880 on a turbo but this actually worked. Been mechanic 21 years but not ashamed to say I have learned a lot from you. Channel making my life so much easier
Just wanted to thank you, did exactly what you showed on a Skoda Superb. The crap that came out of the exhaust filled the whole street and it worked. All warnings gone and it now drives so much smoother, thanks again.
I just tried this on our 2013 1.4l Cruze that had been throwing P0299 codes. Ran fine afterwards, developed a bit ofna stumble o ln idle but continued test drive to ensure was all cleaned out from intake and cleared right up, runs better that I've felt it since we got the car, thank you for this. I used a Penrite DPF cleaner aerosol with a huae snakes in after the air box, added in intervals to ensure no hydrolock, rpm dipped a few times but ran the whole way through.
This actually works. Cleaned a Peugeot boxer 2.2hdi this way yesterday. Slightly different process being as the air intake goes under and around the back of the engine. I just removed the air filter and poured it through that way. The sensor was not affected. After half a minute the street looked like a war zone as a cloud of smoke wafted away from the vehicle. Took it for a drive and the van was more responsive than it had ever been.
I did an obscene amount of research into how to clear out/improve/fix my clogged up truck, and decided to go with the method in this video. I already had a little pump-pressurised spray bottle, so i went online and bought wynns DPF cleaner and put about 1.5 litres down the pipe that takes air into my turbo. I managed to use the pipe from my jack, to keep the revs at 2000 by wedging the pipe between the seat and the accelerator (seats move, so its the perfect adjuster!). My truck engine spewed loads of white smoke down my street during the cleaning, and then when i took it for a run afterwards the engine sounded better, the turbo came to life and drove so much better, my truck mustve really needed it, mustve really had a lot of carbon clogging things up (like the turbo and inlet manifold especially i think) (worth noting as well, that a few days ago I cleaned out my turbo specifically by using this method - ua-cam.com/video/1EC5Zi3_Z30/v-deo.html). I also removed my EGR Valve and EGR pipe (because they are right at the top of the engine and only need to take off a few bots) and cleaned them out with a mixture of 3 cups hot water, 1 cup vinegar, half a cup of fairy, and a splash of white spirit. i just looked up a couple videos on EGR valve cleaning because theres bits you want to clean and bits you dont. scotty kilmers video is good on EGR Valve cleaning
Thanks so much again Riley's Autos! I couldn't get hold of the Vetech product (in France), so bought a can of Wynn's DPF Cleaner WL23379 which i used in the same way as you show. I first checked with an OBD scanner that I had an EGR fault. I did, or rather my 2006 Mini One D 1.4 88hp did. I followed your procedure to the letter, and felt really disappointed when I went on the test drive. Power was significantly down. The engine wouldn't rev above 3,000 under load. I assumed the EGR cleaner had dislodged some crap which then stuck in a pipe somewhere, so I tried all sorts to clear it to no avail. *THEN* when I got back, I put the OBD scanner on again, no more EGR fault, but it told me that I had an air flow mass sensor fault. I cleared the fault using the scanner, and immediately the engine could rev to 5,000. Went on a second test drive, and the car drove better than it has in my ownership. Brilliant! I'm writing this in case anyone else experiences the same problem after following your ace procedure.
Thanks 👍 Our new favourite fix... Done a dozen cars this week. Fixed golf turbo underboost. Also fixed BMW EGR Valve Stuck and loads more. My praises to you. Note. Some cars you need to repeat the process to get results from badly sooted vehicles
A lot of vehicles wouldn’t start if you had the flexi pipe already taken off the MAF. The ECU wants to see a signal from the MAF before it starts. Trick is to have it connected loosely to get it started, then move it to one side for dosing.
Impressive to see a vehicle with nearly 240,000 miles. Thanks for this. I'll do this with my Subaru outback, that has 113,000 and I'll do it with my Land Cruiser which only has 78,000. Thanks for the video.
I stripped and cleaned my egr but not the intake manifold. I cleared the code and drove for a week. 250 miles. Light came back, scan tool gave the same code. I can't be dealing with taking all that out again to get to the intake. I'll be shoving a load of this cleaner through. Thanks for the video.

@ORileysAutos My 2008 ml320 cdi Mercedes started going into a limp mode, that would reset itself after restarting the engine. Did a lot of research and came to conclusion by the OBD code reader that it may have a lot of carbon deposit on EGR valve. Decided to use your method and bought Lucas DPF cleaner. Removed the air intake, started the engine and started to spray the cleaner into the turbo throttle. After a few minutes noticed that the engine RPM started increasing, slowed down with the spray and waited for RPM to come down to about 2000 and continued spraying again. Did that couple of times and after a while of spraying noticed that the engine started revving again, stopped the spraying but the RPM started going wild, and I mean really wild. I jumped in the car puled the lever that was on the gas pedal and pulled the key out of ignition. Engine continued racing wild for a couple of seconds and finally quit with a Bang in the exhaust?!?!? I let it cool down, checked the OBD codes and there ware so many, managed to clear half of them and attempted to start the car. The engine turns but would not start??? What did I get myself into, is the engine hydro locked? Would appreciate any feedback.
indeed, I would avoid spray cans because of the flammable suspension gas. Safer way (if spray cans are your only option) is to first empty the spray can to a hand held sprayer like in the video and then use normal air as the pressure tool.

In what way will a water based cleaner harm the turbo? What’s the issue with it entering the combustion chamber? It’s no different to water/meth injection all be it without the methanol. The high temps of the diesel combustion cycle will vaporise the fluid. As long as you don’t throw the whole 5 litres in within 30 seconds and hydrolock the engine there no harm to be done. I mean the fact it’s been done on this van every 50-60000 miles and the van is on nearly 230000 miles tells you everything you need to know.
@@anesdj4282 the EGR feeds in between the anti shudder valve and intake manifold. When you see the amount carbon and oil sludge in an EGR valve I’m sure carbon and oil sludge debris ends up in the cylinders quite often. Any of that that ends up in the cylinder will surely be burnt in the combustion process since it’s hotter than in a petrol engine. There is probably very little in the way of large debris that reaches the turbine in the exhaust side of the turbo.
Out of intrest, have you tried that without spraying the cleaner into the inlet?? a few years ago now i was having DPF problems (the missus was doing less than a mile a day in it to drop the kids off at school...... like you do) and when it went in for a service i spoke to the VW tech about it, he said the factory recomendation is to get the car fully upto temp and drive it at 2500-3000 rpm down the motorway for 30 min when ever the DPF is showing more than 100mbar drop at 2500rpm across it. I find it's the mpg computer that prompts me to do the motorway run, i get 58-60 mpg when the dpf is clean and 30ish when it's clogged, so i do the run when i see the first number start with a 4 on the average mpg on a run. The reason i've started looking at dpf videos again is that a neibour has the same make and model car as me, he recently had the dpf removed / cleaned and is now seeing high 60's mpg (i number i have never got out of my car with simalar miles and age).

Hi Jimmy, my v6 tdi vw touareg has a single P0234 turbo overboost code meaning there is lots of carbon build up on the wastegate and vanes, can this method unclog the stuck parts on my turbo? My concern is turbos do need engine oil to lubricate the turbines, spraying that water based DPF cleaner directly into the turbine will not impede the performance of the turbo?
Did this yesterday, after trying to resolve an issue with van not getting over 3000rpm, there was an egr fault before i had the egr mapped out. But suspecting EGR is blocked. After doing this initially, van drove spot on for about 5 miles, then suddenly went back to not revving over 3000 rpm. is it worth doign this again, maybe a couple of times to give a good clean through? no other fault codes on my van and egr fault doesnt appear any more since it was mapped out
Hello. I followed the procedure with the jlm for cleaner in my Chevy Cruze. After 5 mins drive on the highway the oil light came up and the power was cut down a couple of times. Then I did a dpf regen with the autel tool and drove it back in 2000 rpm didn’t make any issue. Is it normal?? Should I be worried about the oil light?
My Galaxy 2.0 TDCI puts the ESP light on under boost in higher gears ( code P0238), so think i'll give this cleaner a go, as my car problem could be clogged vanes/acuator. My EGR valve is blanked, so is it still ok to use this cleaner?

You probably used like brake cleaner or something totally wrong to do this type of damage , these intake cleaners can go through the whole system no problem , after air filter , through the throttle valve ect
I can’t seem to find any supplier in the USA. Motor Power sells a similar product here. Would the Motor Power brand also work? Or, is there another online seller besides GSF?

Won’t this fluid harm the turbo and might also end up in the combustion chambers ?
In what way will a water based cleaner harm the turbo?
What’s the issue with it entering the combustion chamber? It’s no different to water/meth injection all be it without the methanol. The high temps of the diesel combustion cycle will vaporise the fluid. As long as you don’t throw the whole 5 litres in within 30 seconds and hydrolock the engine there no harm to be done. I mean the fact it’s been done on this van every 50-60000 miles and the van is on nearly 230000 miles tells you everything you need to know.
@@Mac_F87 just thought the carbon in the EGR valves and air pipe might end up in the chambres and harm the cylinder walls, or the turbine!?
Wow very good information again
Thanks for watching
@@ORileysAutosI’m having problems with the dreaded ingenium i4 2.0 diesel on my jag. Would love to try one of your methods but cannot get hold of the vetechs fluid or even the launch fluid, is there anything else you would suggest as these products seem to be like gold dust. Would appreciate any advice
Can I do this on a sprinter van and will it damage engine like combustion or anything
Looks great! Do you have experience with the Transporter T6? They have a little EGR issue that can come up. Mine hase only 40.000km and the mechanic said it needs replacing... but if this works that wld be great.
Any success on a Range Rover td6 with this method ?
Do you know if this would work with a Range Rover Evoque 2012 or a Ford Transit 2010?
Would you say dpf cleaner is just the same as using Revive cleaner?
Could you set the revs using the Autel instead of pushing the pedal?
Dya think this method will help free a sticking acctuator/turbo on a Nissan 1.5 dci?
Yes if it's sticking from soot internally. The rod can seize externally on some vehicles from dirt and corrosion
Hi can this method be used on a 2.0 Hdiblue Peugeot boxer 2017??? Great videos.
But this will not hurt the map sensor?
Will this work on any car with a egr and sooted up intake. Would it not block the dpf.
Hi there,
Wondering if I can do this to my Renault Duster dci 110 PS motor. I recently cleaned all the sensors, replaced the Vaccum solenoid and fixed the plumbing. Its improved the performance and I feel the turbo VGT and exhaust manifold surely needs some cleaning cos' my EGR was totally choked through out.
Do you recommend this on a car that doesn't come with a DPF?
Hi, my misses has a suzuki swift 1.3ddis which ive not noticed any smoke come out on a good run which it used to do. It ticks over abit rough, when cold tick over is erratic and it STINKS from the exhaust.
Is this a sign that the egr valve is clogged. Tia Karl
Will this be recommended for a 2020 f350 dually?
Do a DPF and EGR delete and put a straight pipe on it. You’ll get a whole lot more horsepower and more fuel mileage out of it that way.!!!
Will this work on 1.6 cayc motor? P0403 error egr. Thx
Hi Jimmy ,did you use the whole 5 litres or just 1 litre ?
He said 1 l in another comment.
Does this work if the car is in limp mode to clear the soot? Then afterwards go and get then engine light cleared.
i did this bur a strip of duct tape got sucked in am i in trouble
Hi Jimmy, my v6 tdi vw touareg has a single P0234 turbo overboost code meaning there is lots of carbon build up on the wastegate and vanes, can this method unclog the stuck parts on my turbo? My concern is turbos do need engine oil to lubricate the turbines, spraying that water based DPF cleaner directly into the turbine will not impede the performance of the turbo?
Going to try this on my 2.0 vivaro. how many litres did you spray through on this video? was it 2l bottle once?
Yes 2 litres
Did this yesterday, after trying to resolve an issue with van not getting over 3000rpm, there was an egr fault before i had the egr mapped out. But suspecting EGR is blocked. After doing this initially, van drove spot on for about 5 miles, then suddenly went back to not revving over 3000 rpm. is it worth doign this again, maybe a couple of times to give a good clean through? no other fault codes on my van and egr fault doesnt appear any more since it was mapped out
Is this car with DPF? Will this damage exhaust converter or dpf ? Thanks
The main thing is I drive about 150kms everyday. And this weekend I’m going on a road trip to france and Belgium! Almost 2500kms!
I've not seen an oil light appear. Did you check level
Awesome video thank you, will this work for a 2014 Mitsubishi Triton Turbo Diesel.
Any vehicle mate all the same principle
Yes 👍🏻
Hi my car has dual air systems, do I spray both intakes?
Yes
Great video, where do you get your dpf cleaner from?
Hi you can get it GSF car parts or parts alliance.
hi on the sprinter would it be possible to undo the exhaust gas return pipe and clean the egr that way
That's what I'm thinking of doing
@@nometalgearr did you try cleaning the egr through the exhaust retun pipe
@@lees7890 I just ended up cleaning the egr while the manifolds were off. Egr was pretty clean and didn't need much tbh
My Galaxy 2.0 TDCI puts the ESP light on under boost in higher gears ( code P0238), so think i'll give this cleaner a go, as my car problem could be clogged vanes/acuator.
My EGR valve is blanked, so is it still ok to use this cleaner?
How did you get on?
Got peugeot 308sw bluehdi 2.0 l (2014) just got dpf washed on mechanic they change oils too but service light and engine light still burning. Car is on limpmode. Any advice should i try to clean it in this method too or is that even possible to my car?
Hi, I have Talisman 1.6 dci 130hp , you help me to solve problem with pressure sensor, thank you, may i do this on it same to clean ?
Hi can i try this on my audi.a3 1.9tdi
How much you sprayed inside and for how long?is any fault code or symptoms?
The 1.5 nissan Juke and qashqai suffer from blocked exhaust pressure pipe/sensor which usually throws a Eml and Traction light up until the pipe is unblocked do you think this would work ?
If you open one end of the pipe and pump the fluid through I'd say it's very likely to unblock it
Hi! Can we do the same on petrol cars?I have a bmw 320i. Thank you 🙏
Would this help turbos that a struggling to breathe?
would this work for lb7 duramax?
Same question
I followed this method but with the one that supposed to be used in take , engine went dead and I had to work very hard to get it back and running again , gooooooodnes me !!! you wont believe how easy it was to fix it , I spend almost 48 hours working on this van (checking sensors /modules , back probing ... ) I nearly about to throw high fuel pressure pump on it , infact I already bought one and now I would have to return it !!! but for those people ''''' DIYers ''' want to try this at home please dont do it if you aren't professional , you could easly got charged a lot of money to get it fix and the sad thing is , it will not be right away so the car or van going to be in garage for weeks if not months to get it diagnosed and fixed please I can't stress this enough dont do it at least the way I have done .. , there is one electromagnetic ingredient in those fluid , obviously if you got the one that has it or even the one that you have used before and now been upgraded with ingredient and you put it there while the engine is running you will get shortage everywhere , so now have to deal with it to get it back and running again !!!!
You probably used like brake cleaner or something totally wrong to do this type of damage , these intake cleaners can go through the whole system no problem , after air filter , through the throttle valve ect
Another thing to add you probably also flodded the engine with product
I can’t seem to find any supplier in the USA. Motor Power sells a similar product here. Would the Motor Power brand also work? Or, is there another online seller besides GSF?
@ORileysAutos
Is the engine at normal operating temperature or cold engine when you do that?
Is the wynns the equivalent of vetech?
Yes
Will this method work on the VNT mechanism.
I’m not sure if my van has an egr or vnt problem.
I just tried Liqui moly intake cleaner and this helped nicely, but the problem is still there.
Thanks
It should work
Has this fixed those particular codes from coming back since this video was made? I have the same codes and i'm interested to try this. I ask because if i clear the codes, I may not have them return for a few days sometimes.
Codes did return after 6 months so I do e another clean
I know this is a daft question, but could I ask, is the Wynn's "off car dpf cleaner" 5 litre bottle okay to use like this?
I'm wondering the same thing - did you find out ?
@@MrR6pilot I never found out matey, sorry. I think it would be okay, but I've never tried it!
Nice video, learned a lot from you, is it ok to spray the dpf cleaner in the opening of turbo? Intake side turbine
Yes
@@ORileysAutos why spraying the cleaner in cold start?not in engine temp. What is the reason for this? Anyway i will do this technique to my car, waiting for my dpf cleaner🙂🙂 thanks so much
@@uchiha45100 on a hot engine the fluid will evaporate too quickly. Cold engine allows it to soak in better
@@ORileysAutos makes sense, thanks
By the way i use this technique of yours this morning, i use spanjaard dpf, the result is great, the turbo seems new now, and the accelaration is great, million thanks to you again, from Philippines

Is it advised to change the oil after doing this also if my dpf is a bit clogged will I be best cleaning the dpf first or will this clean it all?
Best to clean the DPF afterwards
So follow the sequence, clean MAF, EGR, then DPF, then Oil change if possible
Hello, I really like the video, I own a Citroen grand Picasso 2010 1.6 hdi and it looks I have problem with the egr valve. I think I should use that fluid, I have 2 questions: should I spray right in the turbo as it is the most easy for me to reach? and when I'll finish the spraying, can I reset the codes with my OBD Car Scanner diagnostic tool ( is an app I have in my android phone connected with a bluetooth OBD device) or should I do that with a better and more professional diagnostic tool? Thanks
Did you ever do this? I've bought some of this stuff to do a friend's Berlingo but not got round to it yet.

Yes I did the procedure twice, lots of smoke come out and the car drives better but the egr valve still has issues as it shows on my OBD reader. The second time I think that ruined the AMF sensor and I had to replace it because I was reading intake air temperature about -20C!
Did you mix the DPF Fluid/Flushing fluid with water? And what spray bottle did you use?
Don't use water. I just used it with some seafoam and drove it like I stole it.
Will this work on a Mercedes Sprinter 316cdi 2011 OM651 4 cylinder 2.1? Just like that? Straight into the mass airflow like in the video?
Spray AFTER mass airflow sensor!
Will wyanns dpf cleaner work aswell
Yes
EGR fault on my Peugeot 207 1.6 HDI, I'm no mechanic and I'm looking at Wynns EGR cleaner, does this really work or should I use DPF cleaner like your using please ???
