While I’m not really a fan of Harry Potter, I like the sand green recolor of the crystal piece & I hope this opens the door to more licensed architecture sets in this style in the future. Lego has so many IPs this scale would be perfect for.
Yes! There's so much potential at this scale. This is why I'm glad they've been leaning into the midi-scale ships for Star Wars too. You still get the whole thing for a fraction of the price. Imagine Lord of the Rings microscale stuff.... Ahhhhhh
With Lord of the Rings, the possibilities of architecture-style sets are nearly endless. Though I do also like the minifigure-scale style approach used for Rivendell
This is the set I've always wanted. Ever since the big Hogwarts castle realized, I hoped Lego would come with a Hogwarts grounds Architecture style set. If this came out 2 or 3 years ago, this would be my favorite Lego set. I am not much of a Harry Potter fan now, but I still might buy it.
@@CheeseyStudios Thank you for the recommendation. I've bought it and I've build it and I think it is amazing. In the Netherlands I found it for only €140, which is a great value.
As someone who grew up with the first original sets of Harry Potter, it's been a delight to see the new sets from 2018 and onwards. I haven't bought any Lego, except for the Lego office (which actually was a spontaneous gift from my girlfriend) for myself since in like 20ish years. I do walk into the Lego store sometimes just to marvel at what the kids get to play with nowadays, or when I visit friends with kids (guilty pleasure is buying and gifting LEGO). Even though Rivendell has tempted me, this however might be the first set that I'll buy since I was a kid. Perfect size and lovely details. Something I can display in my livingroom or office. Thank you for the great video!
Rivendell's a beauty, but I love how much you get in this small package here. It's size and price are very manageable, and I think you'd enjoy this one a lot if you end up purchasing it!
@@CheeseyStudios Felt like this deserved an update. I got the set two days ago and finished building it yesterday evening. Loved it and it looks even better in person! Opted to remove the boat and flying coach as, for me, they distracted me from the awesome castle build. Been so much fun, will probably buy another set at one point!
Love when lego embraces the tight clearances and uses half plate offset techniques on their micro builds 😩👌 the bars on top of the windows is sooo nice And the axle hole windows 😤🤌
@@CheeseyStudiosand the amount of SNOT 😩 not sure if I missed it in the video, but is hagrids hut also represented in the build? Can't imagine it not being there haha
I completetly forgot this set existed! I think it's an amazing set. I really like how this one includes some of the surroundings and the fact that this is the complete castle unlike 71043 that was missing the greenhouses for example. It's also way more affordable than the other microscale Hogwarts. And even though the durmstrang ship is kind of unnecessary as you said, I think that it adds a little bit more color to the front of the castle. It's also nice that the whomping willow was included with the flying Ford Anglia.
They did a nice job of including stuff from a good chunk of the movies. It made the build process all the more enjoyable too, seeing these very recognizable locations!
The interesting fact that they included in the instructions at 1:21 annoys THE HELL outa me bc the quad wasn’t where any of that took place, it was the courtyard outside of the clock tower which is my personal favorite section of Hogwarts and THE ONE SECTION OF THE CASTLE THEY CHOSE TO OMIT FROM THIS MODEL.
I remember when I was a child, I was so obsessed by the first main HP set (main tower and common room) and I never get it cause It was too much expensive for my parents budget. I remember I dreamed about it during my childhood nights. The big one set its amazing but I really can not afford it, and I’ve not enough space for keep it anyway. I bought this one yesterday, can’t wait to build it! Finally, after 12 years, like a dream comes true! Ordered from Lego online shop, with the micro scale quidditch polybag and gringotts vault for free. Amazing. Nice video, really needed it before spend 170€ 😅
I pre-ordered this earlier in the week, so excited to receive it! I've been wanting the Hogwarts castle but never had the room or the spare money for it, but this set will be able to scratch that itch without breaking the bank
That really is what makes this one so great. It feels like you get more castle for far less money! Glad you held out on the old one - I think this one's even better.
I'm kind of an irrational obsessive on the different versions of the castle design, so this is a fun thing to see - it's the Half Blood Prince Version, although sadly they have had to leave out the Clock Tower at the back of the Quad, and its wooden bridge to Hagrid's and the Owlery. HBP isn't my favourite version but it benefits from the utterly majestic Astronomy tower, and as the version which physically exists on display today, it's decisively the easiest to create a model out of. Looks really good! I'd love a CoS version as well, some day - it's remarkable how much it's changed.
@@CheeseyStudios There's a really good blog called Hogwarts 4D that's has 3D modelling of various versions of the castle. It's sadly on hiatus atm but it's a treat to read through its back catalogue.
Well you can also still buy the Mould King knock off magic castle set, which is larger and really delivers on the grounds side of the "Hogarts castle ands grounds" title. The MK set does have the rear part of the castle with the bell tower, the bell tower courtyard, the wooden bidge, Hagrids hut, to owlery and the quiddich pitch. It is a non licensed set, however. And the new Lego set is not bad either, quite the contrary.
I know that there are a lot of different inconsistencies with the Hogwartz model and layout, so I would use this as a reference to build something bigger.
i honestly would rather get this than a normal scale hogwarts there's just so much more details packed into this one the deisginers did a super good job with this one also cant wait to see that greengots review

The sculpting in the rocks looks really good, the building look great, and its an overall 10/10 set at a more affordable pricepoint than the original Also, the boat is really nice. Plus no stickers!? It's definitely still better than the 2018 microscale, or putting all the playsets together too. The most bang for your buck in terms of space (and cost, too, ha!)
When I first saw this set I didn’t think much of it but It’s still a very cool microscale set and great for those who can’t justify picking up the giant $500 Hogwarts. It’s also really neat how this set incorporates different parts of the grounds and the lake that just couldn’t fit in the original larger kit. The on thing i wish was different was the minifig choice the architect is kinda cool but for a lot of fans who don’t normally collect lego I think there may have been some better minifig choices. Any who great vid Caleb you really changed my mind on this set (as I find your review’s consistently doing) so thanks for all you do 🧀🧀🧀
