I like this this miniature trend. I would hope that at some point we would see miniature modular city buildings/city blocks. This would be really cool to build the city you like and not have to break a bank.
Go check 10230 “Mini Modular” - now retired - but one of my favourite sets ever and exactly in the line you suggest ! MOCers have been steadily replicating the Modulars to mini scale so let’s hope Lego keeps going down this path! I love mini and micro scales - IMHO it’s the best in terms of display and building techniques !!!
Good luck with that... Star Wars themed builds are mostly space ships, and more space ships. Oh, and some ground vehicles. There aren't many locations featured in their sets.
I couldn’t agree more. I’ve got no room for the large scale Hogwarts Castle but I love Harry Potter. This is the most spectacular looking lego set I’ve ever owned.
Picked it up a couple of days ago for 130 €, absolutely love it. Just wish they had expanded it some more, to include the quidditch field or Hagrid's hut.
I’m not familiar with HP, but it is a beauty, and even appears to be a good snag for the pieces themselves. Thanks for the redux review, Tiago. For me, it was the perfect amount of info, nothing extra, no fluff! Will buy!!
Combining this with the Quidditch polybag promo and mini Hagrid's Hut sidebuild from the previous Hogwarts Castle is so good. Then the only thing it's missing is the rear clock tower.
I actually did this with the quidditch poly bag but the colors are so off. So I built my own in bricklink studio with the correct colors and better scale. Shipping is gonna take 4 weeks 😅
Is this the first licensed microscale architecture set? It’s absolutely gorgeous. I want this, and would absolutely LOVE if they gave LoTR this treatment. Minas Tirith? Hobbiton? Rivendell even? I’d go on a spending spree.
@@arcaelum2022Indeed, but I was referring to the scale more than any specific line. I don’t care in which line they release my microscale Rivendell as long as I get it 😉

I just started building this beast and you are spot on with how quickly you get to see iconic moments at the very start. I think the first underground room was done by the third bag. Just pure joy to put together.
I'm in the middle of this build and I love it so much. I've never looked forward to the sidebar blurbs as I have while building this. It really is a great experience from a nostalgic storytelling perspective as much from the building techniques.
Not sure if this was intentional by the designers at 4:04, but the potions classroom looks very similar to the one featured in Lego Harry Potter Years 5-7.
I’m not even a HP set collector but this one is calling to me just from the microscale goodness. I might try to hold out for a year, see if we get another real castle like Himeji. Neuschweistein (?) would be amazing at this scale.
Looks more like the Potions classroom (which is located in the dungeons), the potion challenge from the Philosophers Stone only had 7 potions to choose from.
I’m not a huge Harry Potter fan but I do love miniatures like this one, I’ll probably pick this one up because it gives me Lego Star Wars or avengers video game vibes
Only sad part is that I coula have used a longer foot print to have the quidich stadium. I would buy additional small sets with the stadium, hogs mead and the arena.
This really is the perfect Lego set. It's just amazing. Good value, only prints, gorgeous to look at, features unique minifig, super fun to build. Buy it, people!
I bought this for my wife at christmas and then I bought a second one in order to get the free gift with purchase Space Rocket. It was the only set in the store I felt like I could sell easily. Everything else was too risky and I didnt want to be stuck with a set I couldnt move. This set is so good I was confident I could sell it in a shirt time.
I'm not a huge HP fan myself, but if I was, had the space and didn't already have the bigger hogwarts, this would be an immediate buy. The value for money in terms of both pieces and detail is great, and I hope to see more sets like this coming from Lego.
Thanks for this review. I was not intimately aware of how much detail was in this and I now want it! So many cool references and such a great, efficiently-sized build - perfect shelf display for fans
I hope for an extension to attach to the back or sides with things like the quiddich pitch, hagrids hut, forbidden forest the bridge and a mini hogsmead and streaking shack. Can include little Easter eggs like a spider in the forest or a centaur and fang or buckbeak at hagrids hut and other little things spread throughout. I know there's an unofficial extension, but I want to see what lego can come up with.
I’m surprised you never reviewed the class books or the house banners from the Harry Potter sets. They’re the only ones I have, but I love how magical they feel.
I don't think there is anything weird about the price. It's a set filled with small bricks and small bricks cost less. The price only seems okay to me but not a particularly good deal in my opinion unlike you made it seem.
Looks good. Not an HP fan, happy for those in the fandom. I sure hope LEGO will give us more prints in adult sets. The Batman Shadowbox for 399 Euro still has stickers - sole reason I have not bought it yet. Need to go to the pick-a-brick wall again anyway.
I like the set so much. I bought it already a month ago, but it's still in the box! I'm busy with another set now, but I can't wait to start with this one!
Im only arriving at harry potter now (here for more the world than the specific characters). I think what explains the price might be hogwarts castle burnout for existing theme collectors.. they have the UCS castle, 2x 3 year "expansion" castles, the latest that ended last year, and another expansion series thats starting now in 24.. perfect timing for me... heh heh heh
I would really love the big castle, but this is the next best thing. Just got this myself, was going to wait and build to see the actual size but had to come here first haha, couldn't resist. $260 Australian is actually a really good price, surprised it wasn't 3 or 400 tbh.
The fact that the much more expensive one didn't include the Bell Towers or Astronomy Tower is why I chose this set. It's also much more budget friendly
I was not planning on buying this set, but now, how can I not? I have been feeling overwhelmed with the size and amount of Harry Potter sets, and I just gave up collecting them. Now I want to sell everything and just buy this one.
The most perfect Harry Potter set! It has no competition!!! For my personal taste, second is the LEGO Harry Potter Hungarian Horntail Dragon Set (76406) because I love dragons! XD
I was able to somehow get this set like 2 weeks early from target and was extremely stoked on it. Build took me awhile as I made a mistake on the base and had to rebuild half the model lol
I ordered it today after seeing it in the Lego Store and this review. Is it crazy that I will use this set for my winter village collection set up? Oh and @Thiago are you going to review the Bricklink phase 3 sets as well, especially The Art of Chocolate set? Greetings from Holland 😁🇳🇱
I’m enjoying the set but actually a bit disappointed with the instruction booklets-several steps include errors, and at least 2 of the trivia blurbs are incorrect (e.g., claiming harry and lupin talk on the viaduct bridge, when it is in fact the covered bridge). It feels rushed and lazy :/
I respect what Lego wanted to do with the Football stadiums, but really this sort of micro-scale footprint would’ve been vastly more ideal for those sets. You are absolutely dead-on about shelf and display economy being a factor when it comes to big sets, and stuff like this or the Architecture line make that perfect line of how to close the gap between a novel hobbyist and a Lego set of said Hobby. The Titanic and Coliseum are fantastic sets, but displaying them is obviously a challenge. I think that they could do a lot more with this range of 100-200 microscale building models, and I hope they do just that. A wonderful and succinct review as always, Tiago.
Great review, but I much prefer the scale and scope of the larger Hogwarts Castle (71043) which, when lights are added, is the only Hogwarts Castle you'll need.
I love Lego Harry Potter but I recognise the big castle is very expensive. Furthermore, I like the look of the Concorde set so would you say I would have a better experience buying the Concorde and this Castle and Grounds set over the Harry Potter big castle set? Thanks, and great reviews!
I'll probably sell some of my other sets like the great hall and clock tower and scale down to this micro set. The detail is amazing and the price isn't too bad. Plus it'll actually fit in my home 😂
What's the story behind the boat though? That seems out of place. Only place I can recall a boat was maybe the Goblet of Fire which wasn't exactly a focal point of the story at all.
The ship helps provide a sense of scale and further justifies the inclusion of the water that surrounds the castle. Combined with the Beauxbatons Carriage, having things on land, on the sea and in the sky within such a small space helps make it a more dynamic set - gives it two additional points of interest apart from the castle when you look at it, perhaps on a shelf. Those two things also help imply - within the boundary of the set - the existence of a world beyond the castle (from whence those things came) and signifies that Hogwarts is an important place, to and from which things come and go. Being able to imply those broader concepts is quite an important objective when it comes to minimalism. It really is an excellent example of brick economy. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my ironically long-winded comment about minimalism 😂
It's a good video but doesn't really do the castle proper justice - hold on, stay with me. The complete thing is AMAZING when you look at it IRL. I have mine on a shelf and with the sense of depth and space (which you don't get from a video) it's simply gorgeous as a scale model. Definitely a must-have for any HP and LEGO fan, if you don't have anything Hogwarts-related yet.
