To your watchers.. A warning to Titan 50 owners. I’ve had my kit for about 7 weeks..the small screw retainer rings up inside each snare and Tom are easily stress fractured and fail rendering your drum unable to tighten on the knurled/chrome rod that each is secured to. It’s a poor design and made of “pot metal” casting. If you over tighten them they will snap. The snare is most prone since it gets 99% of the action. Instead of going to Simmons or Guitar Centers I just ordered a snare stand and loosened up the retainers on my Tom’s. Just a heads up !!
What I would like to see is a Titan Pack that comes with just one very good acoustic kit (preferably Yamaha), that uses the whole 20mb or so of the memory, and that has more velocity layers per kit piece. And...a sample to Titan pack converter...
I was surprised with how well the contemporary pack sounded. Thank you for doing a very even review of the product and the titan pack.

I am new to drums and I just put this kit together yesterday. I havent played with any of this yet so maybe this is all possible already, I dont know but my thoughts are...
1. There should be a way to back up the current kits you have
2. Instead of building packs they should put up each sound individually and allow you to build you own pack from them
a. Allow you to build an entire pack and install it as a whole
b. Allow you to select a singular sound and select which number it overwrites
3. Allow the usb to stay connected to either a computer or a flash drive that essentially increases the memory so you can cycle through all the sound packs you have as if they were all installed on the unit.
Agreed, stoked to get additional sounds I like the Tokyo Kit…but yeah hopefully a backup option in the future. Agreed an old school Simmons electronic dedicated pack would be rad. Dig your drumming as always.

Hey Justin - Thanks for this cool and very helpful video. Santa brought me a Simmons Titan 50 standard set for Christmas this year. (I'll get the Titan 50 Expansion Pack soon.) Yesterday I spent a few hours practicing on the Stock Kits that came in the Module and then edited and renamed a couple of the User Kits with my own settings. I'm very surprised to learn there's currently no method to back up the Simmons Titan 50 User Kits. I downloaded the 20221006 Simmons firmware updater and the two currently available Titan Packs (PopToRock and Top25). Today I'll go ahead and update the Module, but before I do that, I'm going to write down all the settings of my custom User Kits that I edited yesterday. Please let us know when Simmons comes out with a way to back up our own User Kits. Cheers!
Just noticed that Simmons just released a new Jazz Fusion Pack for the titan 50 in case people wanted to try new kits also glad they are pushing out more kits for this edrum.
Just picked up a Titan 50 for practice. Little disappointed in hi-hat controller but can't complain for the money. One other issue I'm having is the crash doesn't choke. Verified it's the right cymbal and cable. Hoping this update may resolve. If not I'll be on the phone with Simmons tomorrow. :) Thanks for the vids, they are really helpful.

I would like Simmons to make additional trigger stick(s) or bar(s) with their corresponding rack mounting hardware and Y cabling connectors to expand the Titan 50. The additional Cymbal+Tom expansion is not neccesarily practical for other uses like cowbell, clap, electronic samples, etc.
Something I’d LOVE to see is a Jon Farris (drummer for INXS) pack. Mainly for his Rototoms sound. I’ve yet to find an e-drum module or software drum vst that has Rototoms sounds. ❤🥁🤘🏻

Yes - 80s Simmons sounds like on the 5150 album would be nice. It blows that kits replace everything instead of being additive. Thanks for doing this video.

They should add a kit that has some semi- influence hip hop drum kit sounds mixed with traditional kit sounds, like some kits that has some deep bass pieces like 808, claps/click or some hip hop sounding electric hi hats for live drumming hip hop drummers.
Well, the "Top-25" pack actually has a lot of that. There's 808/909 and classic simmons e-sounds plus acoustics.
Agree 100% that we need a backup utility. I will not be installing these packs until that happens because I don't want to lose all of my customization just to try out new sounds. I agree, this should have come out first! Other than that gripe I am loving this kit. I've had it for 3 months now and I've had 0 issues.
Can anyone help me????? I can't hear the hi-hat because the drums are too loud. .. just got this kid and this is a real bummer.
Can you adjust volumes of the cymbals and toms etc individually? My hihat is way too quiet. Any advice would be appreciated.
@@scootscoot97warlock90 Look at page 20 in the manual. Keep the hats at 127 for the level and bring the drums down to around 90.

Hi Justin - Sounds like you're using a double bass drum pedal (around 4:20+). Do you have a recommendation for which brand works well and won't break the bank?
I actually just did a stream on Amazon last week about pedals and which ones I recommend. Here it is, there's also links on the left www.amazon.com/shop/alternativedrummer?ref=ac_inf_tb_vh. There was an issue with the audio towards the end of the stream, but all the links are there, and most of the stream is audible, haha.
I'd like to see some metal packs. Old school doom metal, leaning toward Black Sabbath type tones and more modern sounding metal kits, like Slipknot, or some of Metallica's more recent records. Those are the 2 styles I mostly play.
Totally agree, or some sort of Rock specific pack that has 25 different modern and classic rock sounds. The fact that Simmons is listening to its fan/customer base and making adjustments is really awesome and very encouraging for the future of these products. I also agree with Justin's points about a backup utility for the custom user kits, as well as being able to upload our ROMs to a database somewhere so that we can share sounds. I trust people like Justin to make a way better kit than myself, being a new drummer. :D

Does anyone know if you can add a second kick drum tower with a splitter?
Sorry for the stupid question but.. I recently bought this kit.. I'm getting the expansion pack.. trying to figure out how to physically install the tom and crash into the module.. do you have to use splitters?? Not sure where you would plug them in..tks for any info!
There’s two extra inputs on the module, one labeled crash 2 the other labeled tom 4

Great video I had the SD 600 is that similar to the Titan
in some ways it's similar, sizes, trigger types, module is different though, but I like the 600 module too!

Yep, you loose everything. It’s basically resetting the module. You could write down the trigger settings though.

I just finished updating my Simmons titan 50 to the pop to rock firmware. The update went smoothly, but now the new drum kits that are displayed on the drum module do not match the iPhone Simmons Apps. Do you Know if Simmons is planning to update the iPhone app?

That is something i think would be awesome... I wish the ride was capable of a bell or crash sound.
I just bought the Simmons Titan50.. and I'm a guy who's all about sounds but I was wondering if you can put other drum vsts on there and how .. I watch the video but I am not finding out where you download and get that icon to tap and then go ahead and upload the sounds all I see is . Rom ??
There's no way to install VSTs on a drum module. VSTs are plugins for DAWs (recording software)

If you haven't already, try turning down the Decay on the snare and toms in the 'Edit/Sel" button options. It can get some pretty nice muted drum sounds in my opinion.

there's no crosstick. You can only adjust the hi hat volume of all the hi hat sounds

What I dont like about the new Titan Pack is that the volume of the samples is too low compared to the stock pack. If I am drumming to a song using bluetooth audio I have to decrease the song volume too much.
I've noticed they are a bit lower as well
Havent tried that but it may be that the new sounds have more dynamic range.
@@SimpleAndyRock dynamic range could only be increased through several velocity layers and I doubt that this packs have more than one. the dynamic range is only controlled by the piezo sensors
@@MrBeen992 The dynamic range im referring to is the dynamic range of the audio, not the amount of samples, nor the interaction with trigger for that matter. You can change the dynamic range even we were talking about one single sample for everything (compression|limiting|clipping). Long story short, I have a feeling these samples could be using less compression and therefore there is a bigger dynamic range within an individual hit (Louder transient, and quieter decay), as opposed to a processed compressed sound which is made artificially to sound fatter, and more sustained with a reduction in attack. With less compression (higher dynamic range) the perceived volume will be that hits are quieter, because the sustain|decay becomes much quieter.
That being said I dont know if thats whats going on here, since we returned our titan as it also seemed to be lacking in the amount of samples to be used at different velocities (the issue you are referring to). Soft hits still sounded like a loud hit, but reduced in volume 🤷🏻♂.
Need more acoustic good quality, realistic sounds. Couldn’t get the expansion. Changed ride to 2nd crash!

Hey guy.. I am unable to find a way to download with windows 11 …it extracts with a .rom …nothing compares to what I’m seeing in this video than what it does to me after downloading from the website…(firmware and pack itself …GRRR !!
Sounds like you downloaded it just fine if you’re seeing the rom. Did you try to install it?
