    I think the "machine gun" effect and the buzz roll problem most certainly has to do with the sound sampling and velocity management on the module than with the physical snare. The best way yo prove this theory is to test it with another module or EZdrummer and playing with the velocity curves on EZdrummer 3

    Although it is very generous of Fesley to include separate stands for the snare and hihat I would prefer an even stronger rack that could support the hihat and snare. I am for the easily foldable, movable units

    I was able to get rid of the machine gunning effect from the snare in EZDrummer and GarageBand, the sounds in the Fesley module themselves just have no dynamics but the pads can trigger dynamics properly using software, flams are no issue either. I was able to get rid of the occasional double hits on the hi hat as well. I also appreciate the sounds being panned properly in the stereo field using VSTs vs all in the centre from the module. Some people might find it frustrating having to use a computer to trigger sounds but I enjoy the huge range of options it provides.

    • @KeithronPowell
      @KeithronPowell  20 днів тому +1

      Yeah… as a trigger for VST it’s fine. The thing is the average person that buys this is not going to know or want to pay an additional $200 for a VST.

    • @StephenNorman
      @StephenNorman 19 днів тому

      Yes I agree. I already had EZDrummer as I used for tracks to play guitar with. I wouldn’t have wanted to purchase anything else, I would actually have rather paid $200 more for the Fesley if they gave it a better module/sounds.

  • @ArgonautDrums
    @ArgonautDrums 25 днів тому +1

    Great video! If theres a threshold setting in the module, you can bump that up to remove double triggering

    • @KeithronPowell
      @KeithronPowell  25 днів тому

      So far nothing in the module has corrected the issue. Imma try and play some more but so far… I really wanna try the module from the FED1000 and see if it does the same.

    From what I'm getting, if you want a kit with better drums and triggers because you plan on using them with your own vsts, pick the fesley, and if you want a better module for the drumming experience from out of the box without any module work or fiddling and general ease of use, get the titan

    Thanks for another great video!! I was a little nervous in the beginning with the Fesley taking the most points but then the Titan caught up. I was sold as soon as you were talking about the buzz notes on the snare. Looking to play some jazz when I get my kit and I think the Titan snare will handle it a lot better. I can't believe you couldn't get a flam on the Fesley. What a shame!

      I keep saying this and no one is hearing me. Musicians don’t realize that people aren’t musicians and can’t tell the difference 99% of the time. Even my critique is the Fesley sounds is because my ears are tuned to catch the nuance in the sounds.

    • @belovedbrother
      @belovedbrother 24 дні тому

      @@KeithronPowellI've been playing acoustic my entire life since the age of nine and I recently switched to an electric during COVID and it's definitely been an adjustment but I must say you're not going through all the hassle for tuning and trying to get everything to sound great for gigs on top of that you can customize sets and have a blended kit or have a really nice custom kit that you made and you have so many different sounds at your disposal rather than just working with your regular acoustic tune drums being stuck with whatever you tune them to! Plus you could really work a crowd say somebody's not feeling you know with the band's doing You could switch a kit to a different one and liven up a party at the drop of a dime! And when they're miked up and going through a PA they sound amazing keep telling the people brother! Thanks so much for all these awesome reviews You really break things down well that the drummer wants to know 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

      @@KeithronPowellThat's snare drum on that Simmons Titan 70 how you got that nice crack going I haven't heard that on any other kit They have really good sounds and I've never played that kit but when I hear you playing I'm like wow none of the other kits I've played had that sound... And I can imagine how you sound when you mic that thing up! You're absolutely right people are not going to know the difference and that's what they told me at the gig I did They said it sounded like a regular kits but it sounded better than the other kits that people were playing that night on acoustic everything was loud and clear and punchy if you did accents they could pick them up easily! I don't think I would go back at least not yet and go back to acoustic because man carrying a whole five piece around town night and a night out doesn't make me feel good at this stage of the game 😂 And I don't think anybody needs to do that anymore unless you have a drum tech who can follow you around there's other ways around it now

    Features wise the Fesley looks like a good on paper but ultimately it comes down to sounds and the Titan 70 is far superior. The fesley just doesn't sound that good for it's price point and the inability to trigger a basic flam is a deal breaker. Especially when other $399 kits can trigger a basic flam and that Fesley is $800 and can't. No amount of bigger toms, bigger kick, bigger cymbals or hit hat stand can make up for a bad sounding module and bad triggering.

    IMHO, This is no contest for Simmons. Accurate Hi-hat-Check, Snare-Check, Module-Check. Sounds-Check, Mobile App-Check. Pts for the Fesley ? The Hi-Hat, Snare, Tom's looks nice, but don't try any dynamics on it. Forget doing the Rosanna Shuffle. Oh yeah, pts for getting 4 drum sticks. Yay. Is the thrown steady ? Maybe I can put a Lamp or Vase on it💡. There is that 🤪. Now I know what not to buy. Thanks for the upload Keith. I actually bought the Simmons 70 module after one of your reviews. Yep, its that good !🙏. Luv your Channel

    This was a good comparison, and it showed me that even though Simmons came out on top, neither brand are really worth buying unless you need something cheap for practice. I had an old Simmons set, and when it began to fail after 10+ years of playing it, I looked around for a new e-kit. I spoke with Simmons about a hi-hat on a stand, and they told me they have no plans on coming out with a hi-hat on a stand, and for an e-kit, they do not see the point. I said it would greatly improve the drumming experience, and they told me that e-kits are for quiter home practice and studio work and do not have to exactly eminate an accustic kit to the tee. This was disappointing news and steered me away from Simmons and budget friendly e-kits. I saved up and got a good brand high-end e-kit, and it is 99.9% like playing an accustic kit and a total game changer from a lower-end low-budget e-kit. I know you like Simmons and now probably Fesley, but if you get and play a high-end e-kit, you will know how wonderful over a lower-end low-budget e-kit they are and well worth the expence as it makes any lower-end low-budget e-kit even any Simmons kit feel like a toy to play. Any e-kit under $1000.00 I would concider a beginning drummer kit. $800.00 may get you a better beginner e-kit but good e-kits really do not get real good under the $2,500.00. For around $2,500.00 on up e-kits actually look feel and respond just like an accustic kit. In my opinion of you are a drummer or really want to learn drums properly and you want an e-kit them you will need to save up and not bother with budget friendly e-kits.

      You need to watch again… the Fesley lost on points. Well, I use the SD1250 in my studio and I’ve have no issues. Yes I wish it had a free standing hi hat but… BUT the playing experience is just fine. I’ve not had any issues with the hi hat not working. I did have it in the beginning but the update solved all of that.

    • @KeithronPowell
      @KeithronPowell  25 днів тому +1

      As to playing on the high end… I have played them. The problem is too many people try and compare the low end to an acoustic and/or to a $3000 high end e-kit. It’s ludicrous! You have to judge them based on what they are. Nothing is as good as my acoustic but I bet that Alesis Strata is getting close. I’d even say it’s likely better based on what things you can do with it that you can’t do with an acoustic… but no one would admit that openly.

    Great video bro…. From my perspective as a semi pro or intermediate drummer I feel the Simmons gets the W because of the sounds, set up, and expand ability. Fesley is definitely on to something with the size of their kit and free standing hi hat and snare but the module needs a major overhaul… I think you can upgrade the tom pad size to 10 inch on the Simmons but I’m not sure…. Still researching this option…… peace

    • @KeithronPowell
      @KeithronPowell  25 днів тому +1

      Yes, you can change the pads to 10in. It’s basically buying nothing but the snare… the point system I came up with really makes Fesley shine but.. the T70 is a solid instrument that reveals the weak areas of the Fesley. If the Fesley was built like the T70 it would have lost a lot more points.

    A hard choice, I wanted the Titan 70 from the start, but the hardware of the Fesley looks and seems to feel awesome and more authentic to an acoustic kit.
    I really wanted the Fesley, but I cannot live with the issues related with the module or accuracy, specially for a beginner where I would think that I made a mistake or not, and it ends up being the instrument, or the other way around...
    I don't think I really need 4 toms and expansions, but I might stick with the Titan just for the module, which is kind of sad after seeing the cymbals on the Fesley haha
