Wow...what an epic trip on an EV...congratulations and well done, guys... I`m based in South Australia and a drive from Adelaide to Perth in in my plans... and your video will be a great reference.., thanks.. So far on my Tesla Model 3; I had been to many country towns in SA, then to Broken Hill but the longest we ever had was to Melbourne.. So yeah, I can`t wait for my trip to Perth.. Thanks again..!!!
fortunately now, the trip is a lot easier, with Dc fast chargers in most places we stopped for multi hour slow chargers, Kimba, Poochera, Ceduna Etc now have good Dc network. so the trip now should be a non event, but you will meet plenty of others at the chargers now making for interesting conversations
we have advanced autopilot with FSD features, so best you can get in Australia without full FSD, so get the traffic light recognition, navigate on AP, smart (sort of awake) summon. unfortunately, until FSD actually gets released in OZ, i cant recommend paying the extra for it at the moment.
Great video. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Keen to replicate the trip. Would you know if you got many stone chips? Thinking about whether you’d need a PPF cover for the front or not…
thank you for watching, not sure on the stone chips, its not something we worried about, and we didn't get any i can recall hitting the windscreen. but i do have a full wrap PPF film over the car. you will get lots of bugs. The trip is a lot easier now with DC fast chargers now in many places we needed a longer stop. such as Ceduna, Kimba, Poochera, Nullarbor Roadhouse. so the trip can be done a lot quicker. The western end of the Nullarbor region still has the same 22Kw DC chargers, and the Chip fat at Caiguna. but that was 40Kw. the roadhouse at Balladonia Roadhouse is the most expensive by far. i hear they are now charging over $1 a Kwh.
oh yep, Would make the trip a lot quicker now, but then you miss the time to explore the local town. The WA side has a lot more charging as well, Esperance and Norseman etc..
Amazing that road trip is doable. It will only improve from there. We had the same situation in Ukraine in 2016 - you could barely drive between cities with 1 DC in 300 km. Now we have 50kw DC every 100km on all major roads. Keep popularising EVs!
Today this trip is much easier, almost every stop where we were slow charging now has a DC fast charger installed. We completed the trip when we did before the network was built to make it a challenge. now its so easy its a non event almost.
that one example was the only extreme case, as it was hundreds Km from anywhere else and they knew it. our total recharging costs for the entire trip, over 9000km, was about $450. Now there are a lot more fast chargers installed, so that one location at Balladonia, wont have the monopoly for long.
@budawang77 when you factor in the time waiting for it to charge and hotels and everything it cost about the same as a diesel 4x4. Diesel is dearer but less stop and time wasted. Because diesel goes further you spend less time on the road sleeping over. More time on the road also equat to more food need to consume during that time too. I'll keep my dinosaur juice vehicles over ev. It interesting to know tho and very entertaining and educational channel.
Very well done. Loved the footage and music. Was very enjoyable to watch.
thanks for watching, im trying to put more things i learn editing into more videos. glad you appreciate it.
Wonderful video! Congratulations…an epic road trip.
Thanks a lot! I would love to do it again and compare how easy it is now to then. but finding the time is hard

Great video. Looks like an amazing drive. Do you just have the basic autopilot or the the enhanced one?

DC fast charger go now as far as the nullarbor roadhouse.
thanks again for your video

I'd love to see this just on the dash, and in real time if possible thanks.
I did do a livestream heading from Caiguna to Nullarbor roadhouse, ill try to find it and re upload.

I bet you’re not useing your A/Con!🤪🤪
of course we were, it was cold many days.
$10 per hour for 11KwH charging. Hmm, that's pricey.
Exactly, every video I have seen on these cars, nobody really reveals how expensive EVs are to fill up….

@@SydneyEV That's impressive. I wonder how many nights accommodation you could have paid from the fuel cost saving?
