    I loved watching this video. I'm currently home in Italy, daydreaming of living back in Perth soon! Personally, I think that people who define Perth as boring have kind of a limited concept of fun, where it mainly consists of getting drunk and partying until 5am. I find Perth each year more exciting! There are always theatre shows, concerts, festivals, sports, and shows going on, all done in a chill and laid-back way. I would love to see more Perth vlogs and I love your food recommendation videos!

    Similar story. I’m finding the social life the hardest. For people who didn’t grow up in Perth, don’t stress if the relationships aren’t sticking at the start. It won’t be as easy as Melbourne or Sydney. Be patient, be in your niche or hobbies and tbh embrace the quiet times.

      Hey bro, I'm from Thailand and been living in Perth for 10 years now. Most people in Perth don't have friends, all they have is their daddy's money. Small mining town full of arrogant, lazy, useless bogans. These weirdo introverts don't value relationships as much because....they think they simply don't have to. Then people wonder why mental illness and suicide rates are through the roof.

      @@watchout4717 It's a smaller city so there is less delinquent behaviour. Less people means less problems as people are the problem. It's a policed state. Lots of cops and undercover ones. It's a clean and tidy place. Council cleans up well, plus not much visble litter.
      Certain suburbs that have good public schools like: Rossmonyne and Willetton, people try to buy a house there so their children qualify for admission. But houses are expensive, close to the million mark, I think.
      Overall, the fewer people, means less competition. Less competition means more relaxed people. More free space to not see as much people/competition.

    As a perth building designer. I went and spent 3 years working in melb. I was renting a room, living and working in Hawthorn east area. About roughly 10km away from cbd. From my experience melb is more expensive and the cost of living was greater than perth.
    While salary was slightly more, living expenses was more as well.
    When people ask which is better, they usually forget about what is their purpose going to a different city.
    You cannot compare a bigger city to a smaller one when they both share similar level of technological advancement. Granted, perth might be smaller or having lesser cultures and population and your cost of living will be quite similar in both cities.
    If you want a cbd life and have fun spending, melb is your answer. If you want less noise, well perth it is.
    Both cities will give what you want when you strive for it. Hope this helps with some clarity to others seeking a city to suit their lifestyle.
    Btw great video.

      Perth won't always be the quite city, due to our sprawling nature the infill and expansion of public transport under Metronet will bring additional people over the next 20 years. I feel Perth won't be ready to be a big city due to our lack of planning.

I found it difficult for a direct bus to go to Hillarys and freo , but besides that I thought the transport was wonderful. Hot weather is great. My advice buy a house within 5km of the beach, as the seabreeze cools Perth significantly. River can be good too as it can catch the breeze as long as its not too far inland. Embrace the beach lifestyle and swim in the morning, afternoon or early evening. Go for walks long the coast, swim, picnics... most of the year its actually quite cool along the coast after 3pm with a strong seabreeze. Where its just cement glass and steel its going to be hot. As well as further inland. Its not difficult and if you want a cool house and backyard then choose a place closer to the ocean and elevated. And of course, avoid houses with large west facing windows!

    • @user-gd5tq7df8h

      Hi there, avoid west facing windows because of unbearable sun heat and wind?

    • @BDub2024
      @BDub2024 16 днів тому +1

      @@user-gd5tq7df8h in the southern hemisphere you should generally look for the windows on the northern side as that is where the sun will go into the house in winter. Whereas in summer the sun is largely overhead to the north. So no sunlight will come into the house on the northern side (if you have eaves) between Oct to Mar approx. In summer the hot sun will be in the west as that is where it sets. Same with east really but sun is rising then so mightn't be quite as hot. So you don't want full windows to west. In summer it sets in the south west. But in winter the sun doesn't really come into the westerly windows as much until late afternoon. As for the breeze. In Perth its great to have windows that will open in the south and west. As that is where the seabreeze comes from. So in summer you'll cool your house down.

    • @BDub2024
      @BDub2024 16 днів тому +1

      @@user-gd5tq7df8h I think there are definitely flats. It depends on the quality of flats you're after and where. There would be a lot less high rise than Melbourne. I think there are a lot of flats in Maylands. Certainly parts of Maylands are a bit run down and dodgy. But that's because of flats that were built 45 years ago really. Its on the river, near major train routes and about 5km from the city. So should be value there for the location. Or plenty of flats in suburbs around doubleview glendalough innaloo and you're not far from freeway about about 4km from beach. But really depends on how much and what appeals. Being a flat I reckon parkland and eatery places are important. Parts of Victoria Park may be ok. But you want to be within walking from river.

    More people live in houses and do things around their house. The density is less, so people don't go out for dinner all the time. They're more likely to stay home and do sport or recreation. Perth is a great outdoors city, with sport and activities based around being outside.

    Perth is not a good place to move to right now. We have an appallingly low rental vacancy rate - 0.3% so good luck finding somewhere to live. And if you’re lucky enough to find somewhere to live, be prepared to live on baked beans because rents are astronomical.

      Construction industry is terrible nationwide, especially post covid 2020. The govt grants created the building rush, people signed up in masses. What we are currently experiencing are the consequences of those govt grants. It created material and supplies shortages and trades quotes went up. Obviously rent will go up due to builders not being able to deliver houses. Rents went up only due to the rush of people unable to move into their house. Property owners are only taking advantage of the rush. Govt should have acted swiftly to mitigate the rent price increases. Good thing is we are at the end tail of the rush and most builders are now able to slowly filter out those backlog of houses.

    • @chappydl2520

    I don't really agree that Perth isn't that good to visit. Compare to Melbourne. Melbourne has footy and sport... what else? More shows to see? But the beaches and river are no good. It has museums and art galleries that they put more investment into. Shopping? so what?

We moved in the middle of winter of 2023 and it was so cold for so long that we missed Perth sorely but during the warmer season Melbourne is just in a class of its own with its many offerings of whatever your drift is be it sport, art, music, culture, etc.!

    I've lived in Perth for 37 years and the suburbs are boring, and yes you are correct about clicky groups. The public transport is dismissal, and yes a car is necessary unless you live inner Perth City. Perth is extremely expensive, everything from food to amenities compared to the eastern states. After you've lived here for along time and seen it all darn near, it's a reclusive lifestyle unless you have a ton of outgoing friends and like doing the same thing repeatedly.
    Having lived in NSW, QLD, Melbourne, Adelaide, I'd rate Perth and if you love the beach and hell hot weather at 6/10. It's not as alive as the east, nor as beautiful in terms of forests, mountains and inland waters. It depends on ones perspective of beautiful. Plenty of sand and ocean of course hours or that, dry heat long days of super hot 44-47 degrees . Venues are always a 30 minute drive becuase Perth is so spread out, often small art pop ups and average venues for artists. As for night life poor, few clubs and not many bars. Coffee lounges have popped up in the last 10 years but they don't last long and close down. Everything shuts here to early, what was a low crime city has changed in the last three years.
    I will say, Perth is a clean modern city and architecture is interesting, further south there is some nice bush but nothing like QLD as example. We do have wine tours and the like but very expensive,.even Rottnest island is expensive to visit and again it's all beaches and super hot rides around the island or bus ride and the pub, after five times doing that it's like yeah ok. Markets are less and expensive these days, none seem to last long. Winter there is much less to do. Whereas, in Melbourne and NSW you meet at coffee lounges and gather, not in Perth.
    I'm a very out going person, rarely drink and don't smoke pot, I've diverse interests and Perth is boring, even a TAFE class here is hell expensive. If you've a fabulously high income you may like Perth more.
    Perth is the largest culturally diverse state in AU or was in 2020.
    Doctors and dentistry is appalling in this state and unbelievably expensive, expect to double what you'd pay in Melbourne. Growing food can be very difficult due to poor soil quality which is sand and heat, garden centres are extremely overpriced and water is the most expensive aspect of owning a home. The average power bill every two months will blow your mind at a minimum of $400.00 which is a conservative estimate.
