I love anything on discus. I had an awesome 75-gallon years ago and had a breeding pair.. it was just one of the best things that me and my children ever experienced.. love this video!
Thanks for the visit and the awesome time. Looking forward to shooting again once we open up the larger operation. Stay well Corie and continue to enjoy the hobby.
Thank You Gabe, for always sharing your knowledge and expertise. Your fish are the most beautiful ones I have ever seen. I agree with you that the Reds and Orange color fish are the best looking. I can't wait for the videos of the new facility to debut on your channel. Also thanks to Cory for taking us to your awesome operation.
What kind are the ones at @ 2:05 ? I tried searching for them on your store and couldn't find them. They are gorgeous. I would like to buy some in the future.
Well said. A great educator is passing along knowledge and experience with the intent of the students becoming successful! And Gabe is a GREAT teacher!
Gabe is incredibe! So knowledgeable, humble, kind, passionate. I love the videos he's in and always look forward to them. What a great guy! Thanks Cory and Gabe!
Gabe is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever spoken to and done business with. I bought 8 red melons from him a few months back and they are growing like weeds. Thanks for a great video
This man is pretty awesome, he got that vibe about him that just makes me like him. Don't think I will every have Discus but this man might change that. I think its the fact that he tells it straight to the point and no BS.
This guy has been working with discus for well over 20 years, not as a hobbyist but in a professional capacity. He has probably forgotten more about discus than most of us will ever know. I was amazed at what he said about doing only 20% water changes once a week. This flies in the face of the advice given by most 'experts', the video I watched before this was advocating 90% water changes every day. I'm sure for a lot of potential owners (me included) this is the one thing that would put them off starting.
Agreed and that's why I decided to make the videos. The hobby will never grow if we make it impossible with erroneous information which will chase potential hobbyists away.
Coy & Gabe: You guys who share this kind of info, via UA-cam especially, are changing the hobby. For the better. I know it's a huge effort ... THANK YOU !!!
What a fantastic facility! The Discus look GREAT!! Jack Wattley's DIscus are of great quality, much like the man himself. I had the pleasure of meeting Jack Wattley on three separate occasions and he was one of the classiest Gentlemen I had ever met. Thanks for sharing, Cory.
Have to say Cory you are a pretty straight shooter showing potential competitors and actually helping promote during a tour. Very much like Jack sharing his expertise with us. (not that I have one fish in a tank, OK some in the freezer)
This is all past down from the man himself. Back in the 80s my grandpa took me as a 10yr old to Jack Wattley’s house in South FL. I had his book and he was a god to me, he autographed my book, took me around his fish room while telling stories of his Amazonian adventures and gave me a couple freebies on top of what I took home. The man, the legend

Aquarium Co-Op Hey co-op i barley started getting into this hobby, I have 3 rainbow sharks, 4 diano zebras, 2 loaches and a pleco. I have a filter and air pump running. My water is starting to turn into some greyish kinda color, do you have any advice on how to keep the water crystal clear? Do I need some other kind of pump? Edit: I’m also using sand instead of gravel (ik sand is hard to maintain clean)
I've never had fish but really enjoy learning from someone knowledgeable and passionate about what they're doing. All the different creatures that inhabit our planet are just a marvel and breathtakingly beautiful.
Thanks Gabe, for keeping the old man's dream alive! Appreciate your straight forward approach to your vids and advice. My next generation of discus will be from you. See you in 2024.
This was such a treat to watch. He offered a lot of great advice. I’ve got new fish in my tank that are hiding and showing dark colors. I didn’t even think that they may be hiding and uncomfortable because of the dark colors in their tank! I’m going to try lightening it up when I get home. Thank you for sharing this video!!!
I always enjoy watching videos of Gabe at Jack Wattley Discus. He has such a friendly personality and down to earth way of explaining the husbandry of Discus keeping. Many decades ago I followed Jack through the articles of TFH magazine. Can't wait to see there new facility. Thanks for bringing us this video Cory!
I really love Jack Wattley, because he know SOMUCH and talk for we UNDERSTAND ! That worth alot for me. Thanks for both of your time I enjoyed this video :) ( From Quebec, Canada )
I've never really looked into discus before and i wasn't subed to this guy but watching him talk about discus was awesome. As soon as he said a 9 year old could walk in and teach me something new, and i was sold i had to come get subbed to him. Thanks for sharing his passion with us. :)
I am Venezuelan and what this man says is completely true, I have more than 2 years wanting to return to this beautiful hobby (I realized that I miss it) a week ago I went through one of the largest stores in Caracas and what I gave is shame, I had almost nothing, I wanted to cry, and the good breeding grounds that exist are hidden, to avoid being assaulted :(
Direct and on the spot answers, this man really knows what he's doing and the video is extra proof. Its a delicious place to view, how nice to work with so many tanks and discus!
Ive been talking to Gabriel for a few days over the phone regarding Altums. He’s so knowledgeable and helpful before i place my order. Now that i saw you involved with him Cory, it just validates him even more.
Hello Gabe, fantastic tour. Thanks for doing this for us. I respect your no-nonsense talk, and depth of information. Also, thanks Cory for doing these tours. Much appreciated.
Absolutely, expert information, from a master. This is the type of person people in the hobby should be listening too. I will only buy my Discus from him!
I had the big pleasure to meet Jack Wattley in New York early 90s in a Discus Study Group international meeting and then again in Singapore Aquarama in 1993...I think. I used to breed his giant Blue discus (blue diamond) so I was looking forward to meet and talk away with Jack and this is what happened in both occasions. Smidth-Focke and Wattley were the only top discus breeders in all planet earth...way before all Malaysia Thailand and Hong Kong breeders pop out... Great man Jack, very gentle and very polite, always ready for an advice. Keep it up dude...
Awesome I am an Indian who loves watching fish channels and you mentioned India and prompted me to comment Yes we are here seeing you are channel Awesome Keep it up
Very cool to hear a fellow Cuban-American spouting all that knowledge in that Miami accent! Hopefully I can visit the facility next time I go back home to Miami.
Having read the "Ask Jack" column from its inception to its finale, as well as some of his books and other magazine articles, this was a real treat to see. Thank you for the tour!
Gabe, this video is coming a little late. My ego told me I don’t need more knowledge of discus.WRONG. I learned a lot from this video. Thankyou and stay safe. 👍🐠
This gentleman was very helpful and informative. I learned quite a bit. Thank you sir for getting this information to us pet fish lovers. You have a great podcast.
Great vid. I just wanted to add the Gabe is an amazing hard working great customer service guy. I have a 220 full of uncle Sam's discus just because that were I want first. When I'm ready for more they will only come from Jack Wattley. Because I simply needed beef hart and Game replied to my email very fast on a sunday. Then I called once will a question and maybe I just got lucky but Gabe himself answered the phone and took the time to help me even though I was only buying food. Great guy.
I love Jack Wattley’s Discus! Gabe Posada is amazing and hilarious! I’ve ordered fish from them and had a really great experience. They do it right, and it’s so important. Beautiful fish!
Thanks for this INCREDIBLE footage! I love discus and draw them all the time, but I'm not ready to keep such an advanced and beautiful genus. This was fantastic to see, and the commentary was fascinating!!
This guy is amazing. He can answer a complicated question in terms any one can understand. Also he can dispel myth's and stories with facts and examples, and in this fish world Discus are the king of myths and stories.
How many views this video has had in just 18 months is amazing for such a relatively small niche and a testament to how popular Discus are and how knowledgeable these guys at Jack Wattley are. And this guy is Very impressive and obviously loves his work !
He just bypasses the camera when he talks--it's like we're with him face to face. Thanks for the interview and all the information and views of the fish!
When I was young I got my discus to 9+" range in a 90 gal, 3 of them a Cobalt, Marlboro, turquoise. I did daily 25% water changes for their entire lives and fed them a mix of New life spectrum, tetra color granules, and a frozen beefheart mix I made with peas, garlic and vitamins. Loved my buddies, the Cobalt and turquoise spawned a few times but I never saw any fry. Havnt done discus since, RIP guys

Love the simple insights-wet dry will not kill plants by driving off CO2! People never remember that CO2 is really soluble in water, much more than O2, and that’s also why fish suffocate when there’s no flow! Wet dry adds oxygen to water like any filter by forcing oxygen to dissolve in flowing water! I think that hobbyists who have saltwater experience have an advantage since this kind of knowledge is critical for saltwater aquariums. Same basic principles apply in sensitive freshwater and saltwater tanks.

What about the black sponge???
Back in the late 60s early 70s they didn't have them available in such beautiful colors. They were mainly brownish with a little blue or green.
I want to buy that fish?
