Seriously his love for his fish makes me feel better about how these fish are bred and raised. He actually loves each one. We need more HOBBYISTS like him💓💓
Gabe, I have so much respect for you sir. You have so much experience and knowledge and the best is: you SHARE it! Thank you so much. Please consider writing a book. I am sure it would be the standard reference book for keeping discus for generations!
I am also a hobbyist and really keen to start a small farm! After watching your videos makes me realize my destiny! Thanks so so much for your kind advices and open knowledge sharing. I will pay a visit when convid19 is over to learn a lot from your farm🥰.
That's what I'm talking about, for the enjoyment and the love of the HOBBY, congratulations on those particular moments and work and most of all the PROFESSIONALISM, MR. GABE.😎😎😎😎👍👍👍👍👍
Ryan, this was an awesome video. A great inside view on one of the most respected names and providers of discus in the world. Even though I kept discus for years and consider myself “experienced”, I still learned a lot from this guy. 👍
To a novice fish keeper like me, especially when it comes to discus, I wasn’t sure how much of it was me just knowing nothing haha. Glad to hear his expertise holds up. I really enjoyed the fish, the setup and hanging out with Gabe himself. I know at one point they were your main focus, pretty sure now it’s a matter of when and not if I’ll be keeping some discus.
Man!!! This is amazing. What a score Ryan. This guy is a wealth of knowledge and you can hear the passion in his voice for what he does and that is so important. This facility is off the chain. Discus will be my retirement fish. When I have my party I’m asking for cash to buy these fish. Lol Awesome awesome video!
Every time I do a tour Char I’m so excited for the fish but end up so happy that the people involved are so passionate. Makes it that much better that there are good people behind the operation. I like your plan! I bet you could have success at breeding them if you wanted also.
Definitely, I think he saw something in Gabe. Me too! Always thought they were pretty but kind of shied away from wanting to keep them...going there change my mind
They are not that hard really and tougher than you think. About 30 years ago I bought 6 babies and raised them. I lost 2 along the way but the other 4 grew up to adult hood and started breeding. I was so surprised and so happy. I kept getting more babies than I could deal with. So i would start selling them back to the fish shop I got them from. And made a little bit of money off of them. So give it a try. Start with a Panda they are not to pricey and quite prettty. I would like to do it again but I am getting old! LOL The Discus were Red Royal Blues. And this all took place in Japan when I was stationed there. I am retired USAF 20 years.
Reallly great video. good sound which is not easy to achieve in a facility and good job filming the tanks and not having to much refelction. Hats off brotha, cya tomorrow.
Sir I have been facing some problem regarding breeding discus. When egg change to wiggler I am not being to able to save them to free swimer. What should I do and how to take care during wiggler stage and how to change water during wiggler stage...
1800 gallons of RO water is a lot to produce for the breeding pairs tanks. Wonder the frequency and % water changes are? Great video for both content and production!
Hi Gabe, if you are running the 78 tanks on a wet/dry filter, how do you remove debris from your breeding tanks ? The bottom of your tanks look very clean :)) Do you siphon manually the 78 tanks ? Your Discus are amazing, thanks for sharing.
Sir very nice to see how u grow discus along with you . Sir my problem is one of my discus is not taking food from past 15 to 20 days . But it looks normal n swims healthy all around the tank . I have tried all the medicines including deworming but no changes . What should i do now ?
i brought a 75 gal aquarium and i didn't know what fish i was going to put in it but after looking at your videos i'm liking Discus fish more and more so after looking at one of your videos you where saying one fish per ten gal so maybe i can get away with 7 to 8 fish so what would i need to do to start setting up my tank i want drift wood white sand bottom and some plant thanks again
Daaauum!!! Those are impressive! The Angels & Discus both appear to have nice strains. My fav was probably @8:28-8:34 time stamp... I've only seen them once in Germany,.. well until now. So do you sell to public or private business only? Outstanding job btw! Located in S.Florida? How often are tour done if any or only by special occasion? I'm so glad i clicked on this, i mean what are the odds, rite? ;)
Same with mine.. first arrived they hiding.. now not anymore.. i guess they start to feel comfortable.. even love to playing around.. i can touch them ..
Back in the 1980s a strain of discus called Schmidt-fox 5 (or Schmidt Foche-5, I remember by sound only) was quite sought after. Can any old-time discus keeper tell me what happened to this strain? Is there an equivalent strain now? This strain had brilliant blue wavy lines on an olive brown background, not a solid color fish.
I lived in Miami for two years in the early 2000s and I bought discus from your facility. Absolutely gorgeous fish and extremely helpful customer service. When do you plan on getting more altums in stock? Thanks!
Hi it is really nice story, the fact I know lot of people whom they just wait for your vedio from all over the world , your are one of the people give me motvation. If you please advise me as you usually did. I have 240 L aquarium inside there is 8 discus stendker but I start having aggrisive problems i want to know can i add 2 more so total 10 discus in 240 L aquarium, they are around 9 month old, later on in one year time I will transfer a pair to other 125L for breeding but for now it is just I am keeping them as per. I have very good filteration FX 6 Eheim experience 250 and also internal filter juwel . Please advise if I can add 2 more if not please help me how I can solve the aggressive behaviour . By the way I made the metro treatment which you advised me Las 2 weeks and the fish look more healthy now. I wait you reply Thanks Jack Nasir from Belgium

Nice! Hope you get one soon!
He gives a lot of good info on keeping Discus starting at 12:52 … Was he talking about 20% water change every day? Didn't hear him say how often
I believe he meant weekly not daily. You’re right, I don’t think he mentions it on camera but I do remember him saying it to me.
@@WildFishTanks Sweet thanks!
