This is the best deep dive into the Alexander Technique I've seen yet. I stayed till the very end. Anthony Kingsley is a wonderful teacher.
That is very kind, Sarah.

All. Day. Long.
Every time he said “bend your knees” I kept saying in my head “quite quickly.” We all have obviously seen Diana’s video a few times 🤣
You’ve got a lovely breath
I recommend you to compare how the sitting posture of the girl was in the beginning of the video and in the end. Changes are so visible. And the whole process looks so relaxing.

Not sure is anyone ever could. But I think Mr. Kingsley brings his own unique qualities to the table. I like that he’s not so quiet and hard to hear. I find whispering and talking quietly to be kind of annoying actually. I like that I can hear him clearly and understand every word. Reminds me of sleeping through teachers lecturing back in high school. Both are unique and both are amazing in their own ways. But that’s just my opinion, not everyone has to agree.
I liked the bits where she made them stand up. Then sit down. Then stand up. Then sit down again.
Hers has nearly 4 million views, who’d have thought so much interest in something that I never even knew existed until a few years ago

Hi Anthony, thanks for posting a new video. You've probably heard this before but I originally stumbled across you as an unintentional Asmr video! But over time I've actually got quite into the lessons and some of the techniques, I'd be interested in checking out a session one day...
Great to hear that although you came for something else, you were able to appreciate the mental and emotional shift that the Alexander Technique can offer. Good luck in checking out the real thing! Anthony
Thank you for the lesson, I find this difficult with every day rush, I know we have to be kind to ourselves but it looks like slowing my responses. So I understand when I have rushy high pace days, this method will help me recover quicker from tension after high pace times!
Alexander technique with Tony Blair lookalike
Blair wishes.
Her shoulders look so strained; has she got rid of this tension in the end?
Its been 11 months my friend... did you finish the video?
Effort less
I thought it was ben Kingsley....
Whoop whoop. Keep them coming Mr Kingsley. Love these demonstrations.
My neck, my back. Quite an explicit song about that.
Get em out wheyyyy
I don't quite get it. I like it. But I don't understand. Is the idea here to learn to give up rigid mechanical control and that this leads to a relaxation which leads to a lessening of tension/pain?
Sort of. Giving up patterns of reaction that interfere with biological functioning.
@@AlexanderTechnique33 "Patterns of reaction". . . that helps me see it a bit better.
I am so intrigued by this technique. Having stumbled across Alexander videos initially because I found them so relaxing and peaceful to watch, I would now be very interested in actually attending a session. Thanks for sharing Anthony 👍🏼
Hi Vicki, I am happy that you are inspired to experience an Alexander session. If you write to me via my website, www.alexanderstudio.co.uk, I will try and find you a Teacher near where you live. All the best, Anthony
Did you ever try? I find myself in the same boat.
Good to see you posting again, Anthony.
This whole process puts me at such peace and relaxation. I've got to try this one day. It could help with my sciatica too. ASMRtists often feature this technique in their videos. A nice one I like to watch is from Whisperaudios asmr, "Alexander technique".
I actually tried it after watching a few of these and it's made a huge impact of my life in terms of stress release and just being comfortable with my body.
To get the "full deal" you might want to do 30 lessons or so within quite a short time period (to really have the body to getting into new movement patterns), and I did, but just going to one introductory lesson just to try it out was also awesome.
Big respect to you. I do have to wonder though, if asking questions of these clients goes against the notion of relaxation, since they’re then under pressure to come up with an answer?
anthony, how does the alexander technique work with people who have bad posture from things like anterior pelvic tilt, rounded shoulders, forward head posture etc., the sort of things where a person has overly weak or tight muscles? Should they be corrected first through exercise and physio?
Good question. When the system comes back into balance, the muscular-skeletal system reorganises itself and the reconditioning of the individual muscles occurs in the process. We operate as a coherent whole, and therefore specific exercises for particular muscles can tend to unbalance the system. When the impeding conditions are removed, the mindbody regenerates as a totality.
21:58 Thats pure ASMR for you all!
I kinda hate you for that
I would love this without all the standing up 🙃
That was like 2 weeks worth of standing up and down for me in the first 3 minutes lol
The Alexander technique is used for different things I have noticed. What exactly is it being used for this video? It says you’re a physiotherapist. Is that what you’re dealing with in this video? I know that it can be done for actors, dancers, singers, or being able to move about with a good posture in your daily life and do things efficiently/ergonomically. The only thing I don’t understand is a C am are people doing it… I guess it’s like the reason why am meditators and “mindfulness people” do it , Because getting it to good posture I guess helps you to relax also, right? I know I’m saying too many things but these are all the things in my mind. What exactly are you using the Alexander technique for?
Anthony Kingsley is a psychotherapist NOT a physiotherapist, in addition to being a teacher of the Alexander Technique. The video shows a lesson of the Alexander Technique which is not physiotherapy treatment.
She is a cutie.
Stand from the heels - since I have been doing that I'm thinking about that and not about my sciatica
Get an inversion table, it will help with your sciatica 🙂
Great for office workers, might help building trade at lunch and dinner time
Interesting idea, Dean
Play this video on my laptop before bedtime every night.
I wonder if Feldenkrais was influenced by Alexander.
Yes, he had many years of Alexander Technique sessions. And many of his concepts and inspirations draw from this experience.
Gita would be proud
Super relaxing to watch. It's a pity I stay so far away. And also, the COVID
You 've got teachers all over the western world. It is amaizing very worthy to try.
I have eustachian tube dysfunction on one side (right side) I think it's due to bad posture because I got a scan on my spine which is slightly off, have you ever heard of this?
This one is new to me. I hope you find something hat helps you.
Ive got the same stool as Anthony's got there. It's bloody awful.
Mine is quite stable. But if you want a beautiful stool that is also a work of art, check out Alvar Aalto’s iconic stacking stool from 1933...
@@AlexanderTechnique33 Im glad you managed to find one with a bit of bollocks about it. I found mine to be very Bambi-ish when there was any side to side movement...not so bad if you stay perfectly still.

Elizabeth No, he doesn’t move his hands enough.
Ugh...imagine ppl always confusing you for a war criminal.
This video makes me sleepy
better than taking sleeping pills!
Understanding body symmetry and utilizing and apply it is what Alexander was trying to teach
Her head placement alone makes her look taller, from forward head position in the beginning to straight over her body at the end
I love it.
Did she have a lovely breath?
Many of these techniques are effort-less
From an evolutionary point of view, if we refrained from craning our necks it's doubtful any of us would be here to watch this.
But there is a way to look without breaking your neck!!
Rebecca is sure a cutie
Hello Anthony, would you be able to recommend an Alexander Technique teacher in or near Stroud, Gloucestershire. I have had lessons before, (many years ago) and after finding your channel today I have been mesmerised by several of your videos. I have chronic pain in my hip (bursitis) and am in pain daily. I have CPTSD from childhood and am severely depressed and anxious. I feel a good teacher would really help. Thank you. Fenella Leigh.
Hi Fenella, Many thanks for reaching out. I really do not know and teachers personally in Stroud. Bets to contact STAT at stat@stat.org.uk. Good luck!

Yes, a good Alexander Teacher offers you the experience of lots of stillness and emptiness, which is quite a contrast to our everyday fullness of speed and stress. Anthony
This is pure bollocks. I laugh at the balloon heads who fall for this hocus pocus.
