- Hey everyone, in this video I go through how to design a simple fillet weld and also how to specify bolts for a simple end plate connection.

Great video, please make more of these style of videos, I find your explanations fantastic and useful!
Great videos mate, the sketching is great and really refreshing to watch, keep up the good work!
Really glad I have discovered you channel.
Thanks for the video! I just used the checks to do a RHS beam to SHS column connection design that I've been struggling to design not being a traditional UB to UC connection.
My only question is how would I design / check that the end plate thickness is suitable? Some kindof shear resistance check on the end plate?
Could you do a video on your fav steel design books you used (eurocode or other in general)
Interesting stuff but when designing a weld I would have thought you would need to specify the preferred welding process, filler material and type. Using your example, would I be right that someone could go and buy a general purpose welding rod and build a structure?
If someone gave me a drawing I would expect to see specified welds with welding symbols and specify the welding process.
Assume I have a rectangular hollow steel column which is subjected to gravity vertical load and horizontal udl lateral loads. All the four sides are welded together
How can we verify our weld for such a case of the hollow column.
This force is end shear force from shear force diagram ? As it is an end connection
Please explain directional method of weld design instead of simplified method, especially on transverse weld where the perpendicular components are calculating.
Hey mate, I have been following your channel for a while now. Great stuff, I learn a lot. Could you do a video on how you would design continuous beams (varying spans and load types) or frame structures? And if you are using software instead of hand calcs, how did you do your verification record on paper? I know verification record is practiced professionally as part of the QA requirements but there is not much examples showing how this due diligence should be properly done
Thanks for the comment and a good suggestion for another video.
I’ve done a continuous beam calculation by hand in my piled ground beams video. It’s not varying span so another video to cover that would be good :)
@@EverydayDazz Cheers mate. Looking forward to that video!
How can one design a cover plate beam to column connection?
Hi! As always thanks for the great video. What is this sketching app you are using?
I’m using concepts on the iPad
