This is awesome, thank you. I have been out of the field for 3 years and now planning to get back in. I am preparing revision plan, you have left out my favourite subjects FEM, structural dynamics and structural analysis.
Can you do a quick type out on how these advanced topics tie what you have already recommended. Thank you.

    Hi Ben,
Thanks for this video. I appreciate your work to help and guide the aspirants like us.
I am a Mechanical Engineer working as CAD designer/Project Engineer in the field of Steel manufacturing (CAD design and Shop detailing of steel works) for almost 4 years.
I have an extensive exposure in structural engineering where we receive already engineered design and we produce CAD design and then manufacture accordingly.
I do have a knowledge and understanding of concrete footings, slabs, reinforcement etc.
Also, the type and nature of loadings and their behaviour.
A partial learning was accounted in my Mechanical engineering degree.
I want to now learn structural engineering analysis to pursue a career in Structural engineering.
Would you please suggest a pathway and the possibility to be a Registered Structural Engineer in the future despite having a Mechanical Engineering degree?
I have already started practicing the Skyciv software from the tutorial videos.

I think the easiest way to become a structural engineer given your experience would be to do a masters degree in structural engineering. These courses are usually 2 years long (in Australia). Without this degree I think you would struggle a bit and it would be hard to find an employer that would actually hire you as most job applications require you to have a degree in civil/structural engineering. Hope this helps :)

There are videos around on UA-cam explaining how to use various program and there are also paid courses you can take on platforms like udemy. The ones on UA-cam usually aren’t very structured so they aren’t good for learning from scratch. I might make something in this area soon, would this be something you’d be keen on?

I am graduate civil engineer with more than 10 years of work experience. But I mostly were based on site/construction project management roles than the real structural/design things. However, I am very much interested to learn real structural engineering/design and in this regard, is it possible for me to learn structural engineering & design program after such long gap?

I wouldn’t expect anything lower than 60k but this number can be a lot higher too and up to double in some roles/industries. Typically construction/site roles pay more than consulting roles and anything to do with mining will pay the most. Hope this helps :)

Bro steel and concrete design is really confusing. It’s easy yo understand but so much to keep track of.
What to keep track of is too much.
Is there no summarised design guide to know exactly what’s needed to design any single structure.
