    As an experienced professional engineer I would suggest to consider for the ice as it would give better chance in advancing your career later however if you are very interested in engineering and techniques the iStructE would be better choice it would take a whole career devotions into the engineering subjects. Thanks for sharing and best of luck for everyone into the engineering.

    what does the (18+10)/2 implies? There are 4 walls (1,2,3,4) having orientation of their major axis parallel to wind force.

Hope the ICE exam went well second time. Passed mine 7 years ago and you still can’t be expected to know everything even when Chartered.

    Hello there, a question regarding to your overturning check of the foundation why did not you add the additional moment due to eccentric load (column) you have calculated at the beginning of the video of 500 kN.m with the overturning moment ?

    That is all true what you are saying, but most of the employers are all looking for newcomers to be chartered or having some kind of license. I still don't get that requirement. It is not easy getting a chance. We all gotta start somewhere to gai that experience.

    I'm looking to replace hardwood bed frame nonsense roof beams in my garage, and doing some back-of-the-envelope structural analysis with your guide was really helpful. It's remarkable how strong 80x80mm hardwood beams are, I seem to need 120mm section i beam to match the strength!

    tl;dr it's a very averagely paid job. You'll make at least as much doing anything else that requires any degree. However this has chartership nonsense and a lot of unpaid overtime, so I'd say only bother if you REALLY love it, otherwise its not worth doing. Good news is that many high paying jobs will value an engineering degree, so you're not fucked if you decide to change to something that actually pays money

    Bullshit 😂 In UK “hand calcs” are so “important” because client is charged on hourly rates. You re not able to “verify by hand” proper 3D structure behaviour for example wind load applied acc to EC acting from 360 degrees

    Even the gas stations which somehow compete against each other, as a community have each other's back having a minimum price!! That's what should Engineering firms and Engineers be doing by considering the level of responsibility and the added value to humanity. The Engineer's rights and values should be protected by local and international institutes!! I always like to give two different examples by comparing Doctors and Engineers: 1. The Payment: 1.1)When you need a doctor, you need to book a time. Upon arrival, the secretary will charge you in advance (whether you like the “service” or not). Get there in time or not, you need to wait for the doctor which most likely is behind schedule. Will buy the medications before getting the results. If the diagnostics were wrong never go back to Camplaine. Will you?!!! 1.2) . Can ever an engineer to do so!? When you need a project usually give on the phone or on-site consultations for free. If win the project, you will get paid usually after the final delivery. Most definitely you need to deal with an “unhappy” client several times. 2. The scale of the responsibility: 2.1) If a neurosurgeon makes a mistake on the day of the surgery, how many people will die? Even if declared dead, doctors can yet claim the person had a health condition!! 2.2) If a structural engineer miscalculates a residential building and causes a collapse, how many people will die? I did not even start to compare with a Dam Engineer. If a Dam collapses what will be the scale of the damage, (the people's lives, the wildlife, nature, the culture of a disappeared city, ambientaç damage…) I leave it to you imagine the rest!!! Not to forget the many years of guarantee. 3) Overall: now you compare the level of income and the respect these two professionals have. It's unbelievably absurd. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    Hello :) How can I apply the strut and tie method if my column is under tension, given that I would have a TTT node at the top of the pile cap and a TTC node at the bottom. I guess the formulas for the nodes would be different, but where can I find them for that specific case and what else is important to know if the columm is under tension? Also, is the the shape of the triangle, i.e. the compression and tension lines, the same, or in the case of uplift forces, it is an inverted triangle, i.e. symmetrical in relation to the middle plane of the pile cap? Thanks in advance :)

    Hey mate, thanks for sharing. This is interesting. You mentioned that you don't typically "do" steel connections. Is it the case that you would not typically design it or not draft/document it? So, then who does it if the engineer is not doing it?

    • @EverydayDazz
      @EverydayDazz 4 місяці тому

      Most often the steel contractor will sub contract the steel connection design
