    If you think this is gay or fake, then keep it to yourself. Grow up, and ditch the bias against electronics. There's nothing wrong with them.

      Wow. Congrats. I would definitely start out with something like that because you will become part of a community of drummers/musicians. I started with a private instructor at age 50 but, because of what I do for work, I have a lot of miles on all the body parts you need for drumming. Meaning I knew I'd have to keep my goals simple For that high energy drumming you'll definitely want to wear out your practice pads, use the metronome, video yourself and be in top physical shape. Best of luck, hope to see you on YT killing it someday.

    If it's cheating, it should be easy, but most of people calling this "cheating" would be unable to do it. Besides, if triggers are "cheating" because they allow you techniques you can't use on acoustic drums, then I guess electric guitar is "cheating" since it allows you to do things you can't do on an acoustic one, and therefore, all non-cheating guitarists should use acoustic guitars. How ridiculous is that?

    • @ganondorfchampin
      @ganondorfchampin 10 років тому +36

      The thing is triggers actually prevent you from doing things you can do on acoustic set, in theory there is nothing you can do with a trigger you can't do without a trigger if you hit it hard enough. The guitar analogy doesn't work.

    • @ganondorfchampin
      @ganondorfchampin 10 років тому +9

      ***** Except the way they are used and what they add is very different. Yes, they both amplify sound electronically, but one is used to make a consistent sound, while the other is used to open a wider range of sounds.

    • @Moorkh
      @Moorkh 10 років тому +12

      ganondorfchampin
      Well, indeed you can use the trigger to make every hit sound the same, but it doesn't mean it is the purpose of the trigger in itself, and it doesn't mean everyone is using it the same way. Personally, I use triggers with nuances, and their purpose (with the roland module) is rather to give me access to different sets of drums and percussions. Besides, Electric guitar doesn't give you access only to a wider range of sounds, but also to technics unavailable with acoustic one (try a Van Halen typing on an acoustic guitar without a mic / piezzo), just like the drum technic presented here. Analogy was working in that way for me.

    • @ganondorfchampin
      @ganondorfchampin 10 років тому

      Moorkh Okay, I really don't know what I'm talking about as I'm a guitarist, not a drummer, I'm just parroting the things I've heard about triggers :P.

    Listen to any studio album that has gravblasts on it, and tell me that there is no triggering or sound replacement.
    You'd be wrong, friend. In the purpose of metal, the gravblast needs electronic enhancement to be heard through a mix. It's as simple as that.
    Not to mention each stroke is accounted for, only volume and consistency are boosted, not speed. The same reason why the bass drum is triggered or sound-replaced; cleanliness and presence.

    • @stoopidhaters
      @stoopidhaters 7 років тому +4

      This video is talking about the Gravity Blast Roll, not Blast Beats. In case you didn't know, a blast beat is the snare and bass alternating at a fast speed, a cymbal is hit at the same time as the bass usually the hi hat or ride. I can't remember if crash and china's are used.
      Notable examples of metal genres using blast beats are Death Metal, Black Metal and of course Grindcore, but not every death or black metal band use them. Some Thrash Metal bands even use too.
      What's attractive about blast beats for me is they just beef up the song, if you listen to enough death metal, grindcore, black metal, you usually know when they are coming even if you don't know the band or song so you get hyped up, lot's of energy.

    I've always wondered how they did that. I don't really like that style blast beat, but it boggled my mind for awhile.
