- For less than $40, it's probably going to be tough to beat the Mavllos Delicacy BFS Rod. This is deifntiely on the ultra-finesse end oft he spectrum. It comes with 2 different tips. One tubular tip rated down to 0.6 grams, and a solid tip rated down to 0.8 grams. For the price, it seems pretty impressive.
In this video, I unbox the rod, and provide my initial impressions and fit, finish, and value. $32, plus shipping. Kinda hard to beat if it performs half decent.

I have this rod, and agree that it is worth the price! A small correction though, it is the solid tip (the white one) that is graded 0.6-8g.
The hollow (black) is 0.8-10g.
Hey, thanks for the info. I'm defintiely more of a feel than a specs guy, but the solid tip did cast 2g to 5 grams very well today.
@@AaronHuntFishing no problem! would say that both tips can handle 10g if needed (but not optimal for the white tip). I have actually tested the white tip for ul-dropshot myself, it works well with the extra soft top! 👍🏻
@@kallesjostrom6127 Good to know. Drop Shot from the kayak this year is one of the few techniques I'm still considering pulling out a spinning rod to use.

Had it out today. Not too bad. Need to try some lighter wieghts next trip - only went down to around 2g - but it launched them!
I have several of these rods. I do like them and have caught fish with them.

I'm pretty new to BFS fishing but been throwing UL stuff with spinning gear.

Looks like the only Mavllos Plume i can find is a spinning rod. But it has good reviews and has a nice look. Love the full carbon handle.
How does this compare to the mavllos plumb? I was curious about this how similar they may be.
Plume seems to have a little more backbone deep in the blank maybe, higher quality materials and manufacturing for sure. The Plume Sensitivity is a little better as well in the limited time I've been able to fish it so far. And I'd have to check the specs, but the Plume might be lighter as well. But for $40-ish, the Delicacy is hard to beat.
Hey aaron, I am looking to get my first bfs setup, looking at getting a solo king Acura and I’m not sure if I should get a ace hawk venom or cu 2. Thanks
CU Double. Good reel choice too.
Sorry - hit enter before I was done: here's why: The CU double is more versatile for a first rod, and it's a more durable. I've had a few problems with the tips breaking on the Venom, as I mentioned in my review: ua-cam.com/video/JADK4OjbMz8/v-deo.html

I personally like the Dark Wolf Ultra. The BK2 is basically a clone of it though. Also, the Soloking/Doviello Acura is worth looking at. Plus you can get it from Amazon. Also a clone of the DWU, but maybe the best clone. amzn.to/3Z1tIae

@@lordbaracuda I'm not currently but probably will later this year. But many people I repsect have tested and used it. It's probably the best of the Dark Wolf Clones. Especialyl nice is it can be purchased with a second deeper spool. Which can be handy if you're also fishing with heavier lures and in deeper water. But I still use my Dark Wolf Ultras.

Reel wise I’m stuck between thecurado and aldebaran
The Aldebaran is still my favorite reel. BUT, I've been using the Curado and it's pretty solid too once you remove the "N" magnets. I'm considering putting an aftermarket spool in the Curado as well. It adjusts easier for me than the Aldebaran, but the Alde just disappears once I have it dialed in - and it's so smooth.
@@AaronHuntFishing why remove the N mags? I just got my CBFS and have yet to get out with it. Or do you think I will not need to swap them if I am throwing 3+ grams? Thanks👊🏼
@@willtraveltofish I went with all them first. I think since I use so many reels that are 1-1.5g capable I've gotten used to a certain amount of "freeness" in the braking. So I was kind of disappointed the first time out. But removing the magnets are easy - and designed to be removed and re-installed. It's in the manual if you need to do it. I've enjoyed it after removing the magnets.
got this rod spinning setup a year ago didnt like it sold it.
Can't comment on the spinning version. the BFS version is decent - especially for the price.

I think that's the best perspective. I don't expect it to compete with my Expride or Blue Current, but for under $40 it was pretty nice first trip out.
