  • Best Budget Crappie BFS Setup - Tsurinoya Dark Wolf Ultra Reel and Dragon C702L Rod. When spooled with thin braid, this thing can throw very light lures on an UL Rod; however, I am paired on a Light rod (The Dragon) which can be great for crappie anglers like me to throw 1/16th to 1/8th jigs plus 2 to 3 inch plastics. The rod have a moderate fast tip action and it have an amazing bend for a graphite rod. This allows the fish to be pinned as you play the fish in.

I saw the icast where you spoke with a few dudes from extreme Anglers or something like that talking about the the BFS rods and reels that we're coming out for 2023. So I started following you and this is the first video I watched and I really really like it but do you have a suggestion as the dwu is out of left-handed reels? Because I'm new to baitcasting and everything I would prefer to stay around that $80 range of possible you have any other suggestions?

      thank you for the kind words. I am assuming you have spoken with Aggressively Average Anglers? The combo here would be my recommendation as It's pretty much my bread and butter. But I feel like these are out of date now. The more recent model that I have gotten is the Tsurinoya Dragon 2 Light rod and the Tsurinoya Genius. Spool it with about 125 feet of thin braid and use 4-6 lb mono and you will have a lot of fun throwing small plastics on a 1/16th jig. Let me know if you have any other questions! :)

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  Рік тому +3

      Np my man!
      The DWU would work best on an UL or L casting rod while the Zephyr would work best on an L or ML. That should help you decide which reel to get first! The UL side is a bit tougher for new folks as there's a lot more to learn such as bearings, line diameter and amount to spool on. But regardless which route to go, u first need to figure out the lure total weight range you want, select a rod, then the reel and line that will work best with the selected lures!
      Let me know if u have any more questions

    • @rawrfishing

      I would say get the rod first! Then try the Zephyr on the light rod. 3 grams is doable with the Zephyr just fine and because it have a larger diameter spool, it will cast further. All bfs reels should handle 7 g. The question is what line rod would best suit your fishing style and location. Likely a L rather than an UL would do. There are plenty of non bfs shallow spool casting reels that can possibly be a better choice if 7 gram is the lowest you are throwing. I am using the Daiwa alphas sv tw 800s for 5 grams and up.
