I rode with Matt in the MORRVAIR through the Maze. As we entered the chute just before the drop, he said "we have to be able to take the wrecker through here". I didn't think there was any way possible that it would fit, but here I am watching it go through it with ease! So FANTASTIC Matt! I felt like I was there all over again.

Hey @MattsOffRoadRecovery, great build! Been following from the start, looking forward to seeing it rock on the Wrecker Games. Also, hats off to the videographers of this episode, I think it is one of the best ones on you channel, allowing us to feel like we are there with you enjoying the wrecker sail through those rocks!

Hey Matt, I’ll be rooting for you & your team from home. I can’t make the trip up there, so I‘l’ll be living vicariously thru all of the teams & their drivers. Have fun.
Please keep these linger videos even after this build is complete. I love them soooo much. Maybe Sunday’s can just always be long videos. Also, I really feel like the wrecker will do a lot better on the rocks once those tires get worn down a bit.
I just wanna say. As a fan who couldn’t make it to the event. I was in tears of joy watching this video. And seeing the event come together. Yes the stress must be an unimaginable level for EVERYBODY and every UA-cam channel within this event. As a fan, I feel I speak for every view of every video saying this, I’m so proud of how far you have came and how you give back to the fans. Time is more valuable than money, and as influencers and becoming more famous, to hold these events to this scale and invite the world to your event, is spectacular. The sky is the limit with each channel that connects with anybody within. The builds. The planning. The rushing. The growth. The genuine people you are. You deserve the award of satisfaction at the end of this event. You have done IT. Whatever goals you might have had, or will have. You have done it and you are going to do it! God bless. Hopefully one day I can take my family on a vacation to that side of the U.S. Planning is in the works. The fact you have made a family from Indiana want to visit your area. Hopefully shows alot about what you project through your channel. Thank you for everything you do!

Have you seen the Fab Rats entry since it came back from Chad's Fab? It looks fantastic. It is going to be epic for sure, this will be a worldwide entertainment event.
@@seanworkman431 I did, I couldn't believe it had paint on it!! It does look very cool but I just love the retro look of Matts and all the cool metal work.
Matt, you are a very charismatic person. You could do anything you would like to do in this world and you will have enough people who would want to be part of your team.
Great job with the wrecker! Also, loved the Hoodwinked quote from Matt. It's a commonly quoted movie in our household, and still one of my favorites because I'm a child. 😂
What axle gears are you running? Running higher axle gears with a really low transfer case gear ratio puts far more stress on the driveshafts and output shafts than running low axle gears and higher transfer case gears.
I always thought you needed a self centering function on the rear end, but had no idea how that was done. Also I hate four door Jeeps, but Holly's Jeep is amazing. She might be converting me. Lastly, it was so cool how you timed the helicopter flyover. I know you were responsible for that. Amazing video as always.
Tom I see your hard work, and you are great at what you do! I like your cautious side you have, it can save you from getting into a lot of dumb mistakes. You are epic, don't let anyone tell you different!
A good set of bead locks with lower tire pressure and that wrecker would be a crawling monster even more than it is now. Awesome build Matt. Hats off to you 👍🏽👍🏽
So looking forward to the heavy wrecker finding its internal karma. The moment when all the parts are as equals and nothing breaks. It'll take a while or they'll just get lucky through great experience. You could design from scratch in CAD, but then you are limited by the extremes of your predecessors designs. Trial and Error is where true progress is made. Love what you are doing Team MORR!! Awesome!!
I have no idea which synapses were firing in my noggin, but Clyde as in the Orangutan from Every which way but loose seems like the personality of the Off Road Wrecker... This has been a fun journey to watch. Wish I could be there next weekend for the games.
My wife and I love following this build.. Today we were chatting and joking while watching and wondering how many "fuel pits" are gonna be on the Wrecker Games course given Matt's propensity for running out of fuel.. ..but honestly, what's the "caloric intake" of that beast? Absolutely love it!
Love your headlights. They suggest the fender that's not there. Lovely. Hopefully your fix on the transfer case and driveshaft don't transfer the breakage problem to the next weakest part. I have my fingers crossed that she holds up. You and your shop are doing wonderful work on this vehicle. I'm also impressed by the camera person's ability to run uphill while filming.
Looks great! Matt was smart not to push it too hard. The diffs seem pretty strong. My guess is that the next thing to go will be the transfer case. I doubt there will be one avaipable before the wrecker games.
They've already rebuilt the transfer case once.. I think eventually they'll have to go bigger.. the demand that those tires and rear ends put on the atlas/205 is very substantial, and this is without lockers?
Thought of two things - On the wrecker, put a bright spotlight on the roof that tracks with the front steering. On the Bombi, put in a turbo-charged Corvair engine. Air cooled, no radiator coolant to worry about. What do you think of these ideas?
@@rayadams5076 I realize "high revs" was not the thing I meant to say. I meant high load. Afterall, car's own weight is not much but snow, snowtracks and towed vehicles starts to add up. TBH, I have no idea. That's why I'm asking.
So we got a call. In today's episode: TomTom's birdhouse slowly cooks some bird eggs, Lizzie bench-presses the entire wrecker, And Matt makes everyone breakfast.
One of the most impressive things I observe is how you share and enable other UA-cam channels to use the off-road wrecker as part of their good work what wonderful partnership
Hi Matt, I know rust on bare metal doesn’t seem to be a problem for you but I was watching Chads Fab and used a product on Pauls wrecker to protect the metal but keep the bare metal look, I think it was called shark skin maybe but I’m not sure. Might be worth a look, thanks guys
Sharkhyde. Pretty pricey, seems to be marketed towards aluminum pontoon boat owners. I think most of these products are just some variation of urethane or polyurethane wipe on coatings. You could also use a ceramic wipe on coating, regular spray clear coat, wipe on wax, or even boiled linseed oil.
@@ganster2263 I hope not also I really want to see bsf go to the top but morr is second in line but being fresh is somewhat concerning….. haha Casey looks to be bringing a service truck in yellow so let’s see 😂🙉😂🙉
Matt, Maybe someone else has suggested it but here goes: Wherever you end up putting the rear stead controls, use a locking trigger. The one you have already looks like a trigger style, but the locking element would be like an angle grinder switch, where you can get it to stay on. This function could be used instead of a separate switch to stop the self-centring engaging when you don’t want it to. The all options are in one place at the disposal of one hand without the need to let go and switch something else, less to think about, etc. would be good for the tricky terrain where the rear steer will get most use. Just a thought :)
You may think the wrecker or Mischief Maker are the best at crawling around The Maze, but Peanut has them both beat. She goes up and down those rocks faster than them all.
Next vehicle build: Boston dynamics big dog scaled up to the size of a wrecker with winches all over it.

She has lot's of experience and you can' beat the light four paw traction🐶

I think of Rory who has all the bolts the same 3/4" on Trail Mater, so that way he doesn't have a lot of issues when something comes lose. I'm massively excited for the games. Well done for building such an amazing machine, it is so exciting to see it out in the most beautiful rock scenery in the world.
😊🤘🏻
I gotta say, wrecker and Matt fit so well together! It's such a cool looking rig with its own personality! If I heard about MORR for the first time, wrecker and Matt's head poking out of it would be close to what I would imagine in my mind. Can't wait to see all the recoveries you guys will do with it! Hopefully you'll build a worthy trailer for it also, if you have to travel longer distances to do recoveries with it.
Can't wait for the wrecker games. Just to see Rory backup his way through that obstacle!
The lights look great and cool! Good test run and nothing broke! You need to carry a bunch of extra size bolts and nuts in case something comes loose!
Finally see this beautiful Monster doing what it was built for is truly amazing ❤ Matt’s smile has been a long time coming and well deserved. Get Job❣️👏❣️
You guys are amazing, always enjoyable. Back in the day, our R&D dept. would field test new parts by letting a contractor crew use it for a few days, if it lasted a week we called it good. Thank you.
The accent pieces around the front shock towers on the hood really set the truck off nicely! Great idea, looks awesome!
FYI: going from 5/8 to 3/4 sounds like not much but it makes the bolt 44% stronger. It is a significant increase in strength.
I can only imagine how happy you must be, Matt. What an amazing beast! 💕
Matt and crew,
Thank you for the great content. It's so fun to watch how well you all work together and how much respect y'all have. It's hard to find good fun, clean content, and you offer tons of it. Many people I know watch all of your content have mentioned this, so I thought you would appreciate knowing. Keep it up and you'll always be successful! Thanks again!
these are Rock Crawlers - don't want it clean - want it RAW
I love the idea of the metal bit around the shocks i think it looks perfect great eye for detail
That thing is so awesome. I can’t wait to see it in the future. Making recoveries happen . Congratulations to you and your team.
A super machine and a great team! Beautiful camera work and amazing scenery. Like that you captured the moon in that bright blue sky a number of times, too. Guess that was Lizzy on the camera. Congratulations.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!! I've watched every episode, many more than once! I hope everyone recognizes the amazing feat this build really is!!! It has been a massive team effort. But the real hero of this project is Matt Wetzel.....he did this from SCRATCH and his ability to put this all together is really incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Having been owned by four Border Collies over the years (two certified search and rescue dogs), it makes me smile everytime I see Peanut (and Turbo now!).
When the shot pans away far enough it looks like a little RC crawler, love it! 👏
What an amazing vehicle, what a great accomplishment for your team!
I just wanna say. As a fan who couldn’t make it to the event. I was in tears of joy watching this video. And seeing the event come together. Yes the stress must be an unimaginable level for EVERYBODY and every UA-cam channel within this event. All of the channels and people within this event are amazing and this event is an amazing showcase for how far each of you have come.
The sound of the wrecker is just PERFECT! love it!!😍
im team off road olympics, love seeing the creators i enjoy watching grow to the point of hosting events like this
Next rc truck I'm going to build is going to be based off the wrecker, love the content!!
🙂👍
Post up on Rccrawler 🙂
Play your cards right and you could be sitting on a gold mine of views.
build 2 ofem and send one to Matt for everyone to see that sounds cool
How’s Ed doing? Would love to hear how things are for him at the moment. How about an Ed takeover for an episode? You provide such a lot of respect and kindness to your good friend, lovely to witness.
Last I saw, Ed had tripped and fallen and was wearing a substantial neck brace.
@@warrendon1388 They need to take better care of him. Ed IS this channel.
Can't wait for the games! You've already won for the best looking rig by far and the potential of everything you have designed into it is enormous. Rury is a formidable adversary though and with Fab Rats as a wild card.......who knows? One thing for sure, this is going to be epic! Thank You
Have you seen the Fab Rats entry since it came back from Chad's Fab? It looks fantastic. It is going to be epic for sure, this will be a worldwide entertainment event.
@@seanworkman431 I did, I couldn't believe it had paint on it!! It does look very cool but I just love the retro look of Matts and all the cool metal work.
Matt, you are a very charismatic person. You could do anything you would like to do in this world and you will have enough people who would want to be part of your team.
Great job with the wrecker! Also, loved the Hoodwinked quote from Matt. It's a commonly quoted movie in our household, and still one of my favorites because I'm a child. 😂
Watch out for Keith!
I love the trim around the shock towers. It’s the perfect touch.
What axle gears are you running? Running higher axle gears with a really low transfer case gear ratio puts far more stress on the driveshafts and output shafts than running low axle gears and higher transfer case gears.
I was thinking the same thing last week? Great minds.
I'm so proud of you and happy for you. This is one absolutely fantastic machine. Good luck at the games.
5:08 Hoodwinked! Brings back childhood memories!
Hey, Holly is part of the family! I love it when she comes by!
Awesome!!
Hell yes! I really like the new Wrecker headlights! They are perfect for that!
I'm so happy to see you finally added a tool box. It drove me crazy to see you trying to do repairs on the trail with an adjustable wrench.
That is one awesome wrecker. I have been waiting for this day when it starts coming together. Can’t wait to see it working. Awesome job.
I have no idea which synapses were firing in my noggin, but Clyde as in the Orangutan from Every which way but loose seems like the personality of the Off Road Wrecker...
This has been a fun journey to watch. Wish I could be there next weekend for the games.
Its awesome to see the heavy wrecker out and working and seeing all the blood sweat and tears that went into it come together.
I love Tom Tom's sense of humour. The yoga joke really tickled my dance and Matt didn't even flinch 🤣
My wife and I love following this build.. Today we were chatting and joking while watching and wondering how many "fuel pits" are gonna be on the Wrecker Games course given Matt's propensity for running out of fuel.. ..but honestly, what's the "caloric intake" of that beast? Absolutely love it!
I think for the games it be measured in gallons to the mile.
@@larrybe2900 given the steepness of terrain there, better make it gallons per degree.
@@earlelkins9086 he's got lockers. Air lockers, they are still engaging them manually with an air pump.
Matt’s “permagrin” while in the WLORW tells me all I need to know. That thing is a beast!!
Thought of two things -
On the wrecker, put a bright spotlight on the roof that tracks with the front steering.
On the Bombi, put in a turbo-charged Corvair engine. Air cooled, no radiator coolant to worry about.
What do you think of these ideas?
I think an air cooled engine in the Bombi really is a good idea, since it only gets to work in winter anyway
Does the engine stay cool in very slow pace with high revs? If not, it's not gonna work.
@@anteshell Back in the day, corvairs and VW Bugs stayed plenty cool in stop-and-go freeway traffic, so it shouldn't be a problem.
@@rayadams5076 I realize "high revs" was not the thing I meant to say. I meant high load. Afterall, car's own weight is not much but snow, snowtracks and towed vehicles starts to add up.
TBH, I have no idea. That's why I'm asking.
I agree with Tom Tom… from watching your test those tires just really need broken in. You built an extremely capable rig! 👍🏻👍🏻
So we got a call. In today's episode:
TomTom's birdhouse slowly cooks some bird eggs,
Lizzie bench-presses the entire wrecker,
And Matt makes everyone breakfast.
Jeremy Clarkson would be proud.
What an unbelievable machine. Congratulations and hats off Matt and crew. The Ultimate Stomper
This wrecker has turned out amazing. I would love to see it in person some day!
I can already smell the victory pie for Matt and his team after the wrecker games!
Should throw some stickies on her
Really hoping he don't break!
@@ganster2263 I hope not also I really want to see bsf go to the top but morr is second in line but being fresh is somewhat concerning….. haha Casey looks to be bringing a service truck in yellow so let’s see 😂🙉😂🙉
I think Matt will have to use finesse so he doesn’t destroy anything with all that power.
Love seeing Peanut getting to be the short spotter in all these videos.
peanut for the win!!!!!
Matt,
Maybe someone else has suggested it but here goes:
Wherever you end up putting the rear stead controls, use a locking trigger.
