It's no surprise why Peanut is so capable offroad. She has a variable height suspension, a variable length wheel base, mid frame articulation on Y and Z axis, and a respectable power to weight ration.
Watching this episode and all the goodies on the new area I feel proud of you MORR. For me, as I'm watching your adventures since almost the beginning of the channel, see the growth of the businesses and the family makes me more than happy. Keep on!!!! ❤
Matt, I watch you all fighting taking the oversize tires on and off. With all of the fabrication you do, why don't you take an hour and boil a tire dolly with lifting arms long enough to create a fulcrum long enough to height adjustment to align the holes in the wheels. In our shop we built our dolly large enough to handle loaded semi hubs with tires, wheels, drums/ rotors. Its so much easier to move around the entire assembly without worrying if you're going to damage an employees back or other extremeties. Always be in control of what you're handling.
The Spud Truck's breakover angle is 18.7 degrees. The Morrvair's breakover angle is 16.83 degrees. The Wrecker's breakover angle is 14.97 degrees. Man I love geometry. Oh and Peanut's is 71.68 degrees.

Well lots of stuff going on with Matt's off road recovery. New shop getting outfitted for getting things done and checking break over's on Peanut and the vehicles. Ed even stopped by! Good video.
That is a great setup from Bolts and Nuts. No more running all over looking for the right bolt. Now maybe the Spud truck can get some work done on it in between working on Corvairs!
HD trucks use carrier bearings on drivehafts to prevent internal side loading of output shaft. If tired of replacing failed transfer cases, reinstall the carrier bearings. Drive shaft length and tube diameter as well as doing one angle at a time is why light trucks use a steady bearing. It’s not a semi. The rubber mounted steady bearing with Oem or lifted crap angles vibrate more than without.
Hmm. Trying to understand why my old 1/2-ton Chevy with an absolutely rock crusher of a cast iron 4spd would have a carrier bearing then. I'm not arguing with the above explanation, I'm just wondering if at least part of the reason for the shorter drive shafts with carrier bearing would be that it's more heavy duty.

I've been a Corvair fan since I was a little kid. Five years old in '60 and loving that gen one car and all it's models. Always wanted one, but never purchased one. It's so great Matt loves these cars and I can enjoy seeing them again. Crazy thing is that FB marketplace (Idaho Falls) has had like half a dozen for sale in the past two weeks, all conditions of gens 1& 2. Makes me think I'm supposed to get some to work on, but pretty sure my wife would threaten death as I have a dozen unfinished orojects as it is.

1. You'all and the rest of your people are nice to PEANUT and she? loves you and others too. I love it when you take her on the recovery's and let her run and let her get in (lie down in) the stream for coolness. You treat her good! And ED likes her too. 2. I like peaches and cream and ice cream and peaches and cottage cheese! and cereal too. The best brand of peaches are the Veterans. I find them usually sweet all the way through and they usually peel nice too. 3. I had a sister that owned a 1963 Corvair (?) when I was a kid. It was a great little car. Have a nice day and week and years!
That nut and bolt kit is amazing✓ I would not have to save every nut and bolt I find . But doing so has saved me quite a lot of times . Need a nut or bolt, look in the bottom of my tool box .

Considering all of the bracing implemented on the spud truck, at various angles radiating from various points, it should definitely be called 'SPUD-NICK' :) For the younger viewers, the Sputnik satellite was the first artificial satellite to orbit the Earth, launched on October 4, 1957.
Heya guys, I'll be honest could used your help over here in the uk the other day, cause I got a call! (From my boss) one of my colleagues managed to slide his van (3 english tons) into what I can only describe as a wet bowl of grass, my boss told me to finish my run asap and go see what the situation was. I arrived to the van the colleague handed me the key said he just made things allot worse trying to get it out, I looked at the bowl with a torch (10pm ish) there was one doable exit point but the bank was 3 to 4 foot tall which the van needed to climb so I slowly backed up and made incremental runs at the ramp adding more speed (and fighting traction control) and on 4th or 5th attempt I got enough momentum to power the van up the slope and stopped at the top with good room between the tree and shed on the other side, then breakdown arrived and said he was glad I got it out because there was no way in hell his truck was going to fit down the lane to winch it out!
Sounds like an adventure! :D UA-cam pointed me to a UK offroad recovery channel the other day, but unfortunately I wasn't in the mood to check it out and now I've lost it.
A huge fan of this channel from Kenya, never been to the US but I watch all the recoveries and I almost feel I know the state of Utah.....and all the other areas & trails they usually do recoveries on 😂 The humor from the entire family/team is an added bonus
Today is my 73rd birthday, I am looking forward to seeing the spud truck done in my lifetime, lets getting the wheels in motion guys!! True Value, Ace Hardware as well as O'Reillys are going to be sending their customers to the shop for bolts etc. when they are out of stock. Thank you so much for another terrific video!! Matt is about one twinkie away from not fitting between the spud truck and the door too.
I have a 2002 Dodge Ram truck with a lift kit. I had to put steps on it so I could get in. The breakover angle to the steps is 14.97. However, if I didn't have the steps, it would be 21.5. Another detail to keep in mind: I will never drive in the places you do. I don't know how to drive in the desert, so it won't happen. I love your videos.
Wrecker's breakover angle has been demonstrated not to matter that much. Between the skid plates and application of horsepower, it should be able to just Millwright it's way through. I imagine a tank trap would stop it, and a Jersey Rail would slow it down. Not much else. Critters are an interesting application of breakover angle, because they don't have a rigid middle. They can kinda pick their bellies up, and scramble over. Be fun to see some madman make a vehicle with a powered Carden Joint in the center, and something like a backhoe arm at each end. If it did get high-centered, flip the switch to pressurize the rams and use the digger arms to push/pull over the obstacle. Complicated as hell sure, but actually impossible to stop, short of a vertical face.
I tried to make something kind-of like that in Kerbal Space Program once. It was just a walker, no wheels, but I got the balance all wrong and it couldn't pick up either foot. Besides, KSP's hydraulics are spongy.
Been trying to find the Coconut Creme Dr Pepper for the past year! Traveled in 5 States including Oregon and Idaho, where they got an extra supply. You lucky people. The Bombi has the absolute best breakover angle!

During the nuts and bolts bit, when collin was just laying on the floor.... i finally found someone that does the same thing i do. I will just randomly feel the need to lay down and relax for 5 minutes. i've done it so many random places that my co-workers are used to it. Its not being lazy, its just that 5 minute relax... some guys sit down and hang out. i sprawl out somewhere.
I feel like that after most of their videos the last few weeks. I think they're getting a little burned out on the 3 video/week schedule, wouldn't be surprised to see them drop down to 1 or 2 soon.
@@chuckbangers2590 i would be fine with that. I look forward to the weekend video because I know it's about the builds and other interesting stuff they have going on.

I'm crying with laughter, in my man cave, by myself at Peanut's breakover angle. Oh so funny! Thank you guys for what you do so well. Never a dull moment.
I know in previous videos you said that you were thinking of repainting the Spud truck blue, however yellow appears to be your company colors. Keeping the yellow theme will help people identify you, which in turn will help them think of you when they are in trouble. If you change your color to blue they might think you are another company if they don’t see the name. Just a thought/my opinion. P.S. love the show.
Another excellent episode Moor crew! Matt you asked us, "In case you wondering if Katelynn can drive a stick"? I would say that Katelynn can drive anything with a driver's seat. She is awesome, she is a phenom. The entire crew is awesome and we enjoy your vids.
16:22 31,000 pieces of Hardware!!! .. My dream!! .... I remember the day I bought a small set of hardwear, half used up, the most popular pieces gone. But all the little drawers were there!! From someone who just didn't need it anymore, $60 5 drawers high by 6 drawers wide. It's in storage right now, until I get my own lace again ,.. but I cannot say HOW many times that saved my butt!!! :) 100's!!! .. If I had a big project and had the money I'd always buy new stuff, a little extra every time, and add more to the set. It's no surprise why Peanut is so capable offroad. She has a variable height suspension, a variable length wheel base, mid frame articulation on Y and Z axis, and a respectable power to weight ration.

And she can turn on a dime in at least 3 axis! ;)

Like most people, the thing I envy most is that you have room to do all those fabulous things. (proxy cuddles for Peanut)
Matt, you need to send a Corvair engine to Steve Morris so he can get some real power out of it. It would make awesome content for both of you.
I love your channel! It is refined, but not totally scripted
You keep it moving along quickly and entertaining.
Great work to those on camera
And super awesome work MORR editing team!!
My Volvo XC90 breakover angle is made for curbs, no more! 😎
Only a 27 min video after waiting all week for this???? That's rookie numbers team!!! Gotta get them up atleast double MORR CREW!!!!
Great, VIDEO as always! And the secret ingredient: Ed and all Peanuts licks and love.....and you thought it was about the built or towing or nuts and bolts😂 Thank you Matt's Off-road team...you're all STARS
Peaches and cottage cheese is another treat
Or canned pears
8:20 in and realizing it's another video I thought was about the 6×6, but isn't at all 👌👏👏👏
Came here for the build, stayed for the Peanut.
I'm crying with laughter, in my man cave, by myself at Peanut's breakover angle. Oh so funny! Thank you guys for what you do so well. Never a dull moment.
I love what you are doing mat
I know in previous videos you said that you were thinking of repainting the Spud truck blue, however yellow appears to be your company colors. Keeping the yellow theme will help people identify you, which in turn will help them think of you when they are in trouble. If you change your color to blue they might think you are another company if they don’t see the name. Just a thought/my opinion. P.S. love the show.
Jake is a real team player!
Jake is a huge poser! Jake the fake
@@UtubegofukurselfAw, is the jealousy getting so full it's squirting out?
Peanut is such a good little dog, she is definitely part of the A Team!
22:04 it’s called “the dad tax”. Dad’s all have to taste test food and drinks to “make sure it’s safe”. 😂
Another excellent episode Moor crew! Matt you asked us, "In case you wondering if Katelynn can drive a stick"? I would say that Katelynn can drive anything with a driver's seat. She is awesome, she is a phenom. The entire crew is awesome and we enjoy your vids.
Wait! did I just see Matt @12:51 NOT using a claw hammer? OMG this is hard to believe!
He wasn’t in his shop.
That day was over 40 years ago, and there is still some odd ball original pieces in it :)
Great set up, if ya got $10k to spend on em...
