''Enjoy Your Day'' Buy Album ''Original Cool'' ➥t.ly/g7v86 by Stray Cats, Style #Rock #Rockabilly, Year 1993. About, Stray Cats, the band that put Rockabilly music back on the record charts in the early-’80s, scored several big hits on both sides of the Atlantic thanks to a striking visual 1950’s style brought “up to date” with exaggerated pompadours and colorful tattoos, as well as genuine musical chops that evoked the best players of rockabilly’s original heyday. The music had a rhythm that was rock solid yet loose, the singer could croon or shout and the guitar playing demanded respect. It was elegant yet hard, jazzy yet completely rocking. Their music and style were like nothing happening in pop culture at that time. Formed by guitarist/vocalist Brian Setzer, upright bass player Lee Rocker and drummer Slim Jim Phantom in the Long Island town of Massapequa, NY, in 1979, the trio shared a love for Rockabilly music and after banging around New York and Philadelphia for a few months, in the summer of 1980, they were persuaded by a mutual friend to hop a plane to London where a rockabilly revival movement was just beginning to emerge. They were popular right out of the box with the release of their self-titled album in 1981 that scored three straight hits with “Runaway Boys,” “Rock This Town,” and “Stray Cat Strut.” Deciding to test their luck in America, they signed with EMI America and in 1982 released their U.S. debut, Built for Speed, which compiled the highlights from their two British LPs. Helped by extensive airplay on MTV at the height of the anything-goes new wave era, “Rock This Town” and “Stray Cat Strut” both hit the American Top Ten, over a year after their British chart peaks. As a result, Built for Speed was a smash, and the Stray Cats were seen as avatars of retro style. Their second American album, Rant n’ Rave With the Stray Cats, appeared in 1983 and produced another Top Ten hit in “(She’s) Sexy + 17,” as well as a Top 40 entry in the doo wop-styled ballad “I Won’t Stand in Your Way.” The Cats had clawed their way all over the globe from 1981 to 1984 when they decided to go their separate ways for a while. In mid-1988, the three felt the time was right to bring it back again and reunited until 1992 when they split a second time. A one-off reunion show in California in 2003 created such a good vibe between the three guys that they decided to mount a month-long summer tour of Europe to celebrate both the Rockabilly trio’s 25 year career and the 50th birthday of rock and roll in the cities where it all started for them. So much excitement was generated with the 17 show sold-out tour that is was decided that one performance would be documented and released as a live DVD and album.

Lyrics: Be Bop A Lula
Well Be Bop A Lula she's my baby
Be Bop A Lula I don't mean maybe
Be Bop A Lula she's my baby
Be Bop A Lula I don't mean maybe
Be Bop A Lula she's my baby doll, my baby doll, my baby doll.
Well, she's the gal in the red blue jeans
She's the queen of all the teens
She's the woman that I know
She's the woman that loves me so.
Be Bop A Lula she's my baby
Be Bop A Lula I don't mean maybe
Be Bop A Lula she's my baby doll, my baby doll, my baby doll.
(Let's rock)
Well, now she's the woman that's got that beat
She's the woman with the flyin' feet
She's the woman that walks around the store
She's the woman that yells (scream) more, more, more, more.
Be Bop A Lula she's my baby
Be Bop A Lula I don¹t mean maybe
Be Bop A Lula she's my baby doll, my baby doll, my baby doll.
(Let's rock again, now)
Well Be Bop A Lula she's my baby
Be Bop A Lula I don't mean maybe
Be Bop A Lula she's my baby
Be Bop A Lula I don't mean maybe
Be Bop A Lula she's my baby doll, my baby doll, my baby doll.

I like those pie crust-white wall rear tires. Makes it look at least 10× cooler.
Thank You Red,
Love the swinging
Blues tune.

I’m 65 years old. When I was maybe 6 or 7 my dad gave me his old record player and sone 45’s. Gene Vincent’s Be Bop a Lula was one I played over and over. The Cats did a great job.
58 ans, dans les 45 tours/mn de mon père il y avait See You Later Alligator / Mambo Rock de Bill Haley et Guitar Boogie de Arthur Smith. En direct des années 50.
🫡
Dad had good taste.
They certainly did!
OWWWWW!! CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THAT SOUND!!!
There are times when my teenage grandkids come over to the house and I have Old Time Rock n Roll playing on the stereo. The smile on their faces as they walk in IS PRICELESS!!!
Many's the time they've told me why can't their music today be anywhere close to as good as the old Rock and Roll. And I tell them back then you had to have talent and be able to SING!!
For my granddaughter's 16th birthday last year she wanted a 50's themed party.
So we cleared out my four car garage and decorated it in 50's style including a motorized mirrored ball!!
All the kids (and most of the adults) came dressed in 50's clothes and hairstyles. Most of the girls came dressed in Poodle dresses! Guys in jeans with their hair slicked back in a "duck tail"!
We hired a "Rock n Roll" DJ who played 50's and 60's music while playing the part of an AM radio disc jockey. He even took song requests and had the kids line up to make dedications to friends, just like on American Bandstand! The music was great!! All the kids had a blast. And the highlight was doing the "Hand Jive" to that song, and at the end of the party everyone lined up to do "The Stroll" a couple of times, then saying good night to my granddaughter as they "strolled" out the door.
SO MUCH FUN!!!
AWESOME tale! Thanks!!!
Too cool for school
That sounds like so much fun! You're a good grandad God bless!
16 candles by the Crests was my 16th 1960 great Era in as was bebopalula
We enjoyed their music, it was great sound of the past in a more current 80s era, that gabbed the audience and we were part of that mass of fans who enjoyed that sound and their music. They were part of the best music era and created timeless sound for sure.
Stray cats really captured that rockabilly sound and feel. Brian setzer played that hollow body guitar perfectly.
midnight rider I agree... nobody can get a better sound out of a Gretch!
@@rnigelwales I think George Harrison would like a word with you.
@@rnigelwales Chet Atkins wants a word too...
Yea huh
Dave Edmunds helped. A lot.
Rockabilly is like a close cousin to Blues, both reach into your soul.
Blues was the main ingredient in the recipe for rockabilly and rock while Country gave it the twange that made the guitar king. You can thank Hank Williams for that in my estimation.
Stray Cats is one of the best groups I've ever heard. Love them. Great Music. 🆗✔️👍🏻😀
The Brian Setzer Orchestra still rocks, they do a great Christmas show every year.
Stray cats the legends just love everything about them. Still do in 2023. No competition.
Saw The Stray Cats in London, December 1980. They were great.
They have done justice to this Gene Vincent classic.
Sweet Gene would be smiling down on them, wherever he is now.
I heard the beginning and my heart sank. Smooooth.
listen to your heard!
Rockabilly...doesnt age. Cruising the Tube tonight and found a blast from the past Stray Cats..woot woot 😉
Of course, Gene Vincent made this a hit in the 50's, but you knew that.
Charles P 😊
Huomenta
Gene Vincent is looking down with a big smile on his face saying "The Stray Cats get it"
Classic rock & roll perfection from the Stray Cats !!! Great Gene Vincent cover !!!
Nothing beats the sound of an upright bass ...
Great rendition by one of the best modern rockabilly bands
Слушаю подобные композиции получая не описуемое удовольствие , видимо прошли времена когда создавали подобную классику , все загадили тупым репом .
Lol what? One type of music doesn't preclude other kinda of music being good.
@@heathertaylor8904 he's just sayin rap sucks.... which it does.... no talent mumblings of incoherent gibberish.....
@Nobody Famous that's about as ignorant a statement as any. Mumble rap was like.. five minutes in the brief history of rap. It's like saying all country is crying about wives and dogs leaving, or all punk is angry emo brats whining about something they don't understand. To criticize you've never given a chance to is to out yourself as someone who is unwilling to open themselves up to anything different because they're afraid. Try I'm dying of thirst by Kendrick Lamar. Anything by Kendrick Lamar really.
All music invites you to experience another aspect of life. Maybe one you've experienced yourself. Maybe one you haven't, but they're opening their world up for you to see inside. It's stupid to discount an entire genre because you heard a few bad ones.
Indeed
@@heathertaylor8904 sh*t country music is a bunch of drunk, crying, cousin diddling, 4 wheel drive bs... Emo is cutting yourself in the bathroom because your dad didn't love you enough, pop is all I'm a ho with a yeasty box and 4 baby daddies, Metal is all five finger fist punched my uncles fartbox in back of quick stop, Generally speaking most modern music and artist suck.... I said what I said, it is what it is.....(Tom Macdonald)
BE BOP A LULA, I am 70 years old now been hearing this in 1980s and I love to dance💃💃💃 in my early days. My knees were still strong to twist. Grateful with UA-cam and the RED GREY MATTER channel
for posting/uploading this long lost song for me. I have so many memories to ponder. Thank you. My country 🇵🇭 Philippines is far from you but my greetings flies to your ♥ 💖🙏🌹🌹🌺🌺. Please be safe Sir/Maam. Health is Wealth.
I played in bands in Melb Aus back in the 80's Rock a Billy and R&R this song was always there. Keep on Rockin.
I love live rockabilly crowded smoky bar drunk and living up some good time fun....
@@Jalapenogoesintight same ❤
They were great days late eighties early nineties coming of age in NW Wi USA. The culture and economy revolved around dairy farms and the bar life was vibrant. It's all gone to pot since then and the kommie police turned fecal.
Saw the Cats live in Vancouver BC along with the Pretenders and ZZ Top. What a great concert!
Stray Cats are the best Rockabilly band ever.
nah. the 'Blasters' are the best.
Saw the STRAY CATS AT A ROCK A BILLY IN FLORIDA, FANTASTIC! FANTASTIC!
Was at the SEMINOLE CASINO & HOTEL IN IMMOKALEE, FLORIDA
Stray Cats are the best rockabilly band in the world
Try Eddie Cochran.
They DONT MAKE MUSIC LIKE THIS ANYMORE! Im glad i was born soon enough to at least experience this at its latter end. Great memories on the strip, racing and the girls... Great times man.
I hear that and I can relate! I also remember woodstock the beatles and free sex [no aids]!
Жму руку👍
IT IS TOO BAD CRUISEN IS NO MORE
It’s out there, but it’s mostly underground artists. There’s a local musician in my town who goes by Low Volts who has a similar sound to this with a little dash of George Thorogood. You can find his music online.
I met Brian at an airport and they had just returned from a concert in the Far East. Nice guy to talk to.And his Cats can really rock and I say that as a guy 84.
Best rendition of this classic 'billy rock' tune ever.
Not long ago, I got on a Stray Cats kick and played all my Vinyl Stray Cats back-to-back. Was sure great to "have a visit" from my old friends! These guys definitely play it right!
That’s called hitting the reset button. Came out in a much better mood too! Didn’t you?
You know what I find wild af? This was like the 3rd time it became popular, but most people are gonna assume this was from the 50s or so. Just a fantastic sound that never gets old.
Шикарное прочтение и исполнение.
In high school,1956, Gene Vincent and his echo mike and Bee Bop A lula was a big hit. Still love it in 2018
In high school in 1957. Sure wish we could go back and look at those mini skirts and tight fuzzy sweaters.
Да, музыка , рок, блюз 60-70 гг, классика для наших детей и внуков!

Been a fan since '87. Love Stray Cats. Keep up that strutt
Yes, Love Stray Cats
I think every car in Newport & Laguna that summer of '82 was blasting the Stray Cats. It was such a cool, new sound
1982 at 15, the Southern California music screen warped me. Punk was prevalent, “ New Wave”, Ska, and Rockabilly all we’re playing on my local radio station.
Miss that volume of great styles of music on the radio. Guess it’s why we have u tube
Brian and the Cats do a killer cover with the Gene Vincent and the Bluecaps original. I like to imagine the two bands playing together in their prime. I'd be there for that concert!
Superb version ! I love the old guitar sound and the echo .

Love the Stray Cats, and like the "Cheater Slicks" on the hot rod, you have to be as old as me to recognize that feature

Nice old skool!!
Funny. I drove a cab years ago and a woman got out and I started to roar off. I hear banging on the side of the cab. She had her dress caught in the door. :)
I LOVE IT! GOOD OLD DAYS !
