Currently, I live in Carson City and really like it here. The high desert is home to me. Note: I relocated from Houston, Texas, which is nothing but sprawl. Now, the housing prices in Carson City are steeper than I'd like, but they are nowhere near as high as what you find in most parts of California. According to a KQED article from December 22, the median home price there was $711,300 last October. Anyways, Carson City is very quiet and unassuming. Traffic is rarely an issue. There are plenty of stores that will meet most of your needs. If you enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, there are many trails nearby. Also, Lake Tahoe is your side yard. I see myself staying.
I'm in Reno right now visiting and was blown away how the gas prices are higher than the gas prices in Los Angeles. The weather in Reno is so extreme not to mention. I lived in Reno for over 47 years and I am satisfied I made the move out.
I enjoy your videos but I'd like to offer a couple of suggestions - Not everyone who moves to Nevada is coming for the gaming, many no doubt are, but not all of 'em, and you appear to be not addressing their concerns. What about crime? City services? Are there art galleries and bookstores in Carson City? Are there any ordinances in place in Carson City to preserve the quality of older established neighborhoods or are developers allow to just go in and plough them under in order to build mini-mansions that take up 70-80 % of the available lot? My apologies if the tone of my comment sounds harsh - not how it's intended. As someone who has considered moving to Carson City (and who knows, may still do so) I think a broader, more detained presentation would benefit all. Cheers!
Carson has an older demographic than Reno. Carson has less crime, more limits on growth and isn't nearly as ghetto. They say people are moving to Reno from California and they are in droves - just as soon as they get evicted from their apartments in the Central Valley and Inland Empire - they pack up the pitbulls and meth and move to Reno.
Gaming is the least of it anymore. Gaming is everywhere, nothing special anymore.
Thank you. I would also want to know. Thinking of moving to Carson, but I'm worried about flooding.
It’s the WORST. Not a city. Not a county. In Carson. And very oppressive. Old? Wanna stay home ? Perfect if not. RUN😱💩🤬
Very helpful. Thank you!
So glad!
Very Interesting. Thank you for the information.

Nevada Day Parade!!! Best Day of the year! Such a blast!! Only Nevada and Hawaii celebrate their Statehood.
Absolutely!! thanks for the comment!
Yes I love all the Political 3/4's of the parade, my favorite!
The only difference between Hawaii and Nevada is kids in Hawaii actually go to school more often kids in nevada avoid school as much as possible that's why they're lacking intelligence
@@eddiebounty4361 Wow Bold Statement You Think!
@@eddiebounty4361 Bullshit. School is a brainwashing facility. The intelligent kids are not going to school.
as a teen in Carson I gotta say it's not really meant for kids or teenagers since there's not many child attractions or anything like that. The most you've got is bowling, walking, hiking, go-kart racing, and a couple of other things, if you want the big arcades, trampoline parks, etc you gotta visit Reno. But Carson is really nice to settle down and has amazing views and is kept really nice.
Get a job and plan for college. News Flash!!! If your a teenager childhood is over adulthood is what you need to prepare for. 🙏🕊✝️
@@tw2800 News Flash!!! Teens were once children. You lost the point of the main comment with your judgemental outlook.
I love these videos, well done guys. Maybe a little more info on the Church scene would be helpful to some, and how about the ATV situation, I have a quad that I can ride from my driveway onto many good off road trails here in central Arizona, can you dig a well? Also can you have chickens in your backyard? How about horse property?
Currently living in Las Vegas, was thinking of retiring up in Carson,I went to elementary, thru sophomore year in Carson,I do remember great community center, municipal pool, library,,wind and freezing cold in mornings January thru March..I was surprised how high houses prices are,I got a 4 bedroom house big corner lot in Vegas for 260 k..
Housing prices are increasing drastically, but reach out if you are headed back home!!
Great Vid Guys ..I Lived There in 2015 - 17 , I like Carson Better . I'm coming Back next spring , Can't Wait !

What’s the main reason? We’re considering Reno and arson City. Thanks

I read that Greg LeMond lived in Carson as a teenager and he trained for bicycle racing on the hilly back country roads up to Tahoe.
I was hoping to hear about outdoor activities (hiking, skiing, lake activities etc). Do you have anything on that?
Definitely, take a look at some of our other videos!!

Lots to do like that i used to live there everyone there new me as big poppa great place to be good strong comunity
It's honestly baffling how Nevada is presented as this wild desert when half of the state gets really cold in the winter. It was 2 degrees in Ely yesterday. I had this dream. If I was a billionaire I would build a new city in the middle of Nevada where the winters are cold and summers are hot (as the world should be) and I would use the groundwater to support it. Nevada has one of the largest groundwater reserves in the nation, if we could find a way to access it I guarantee you the state would be booming, not just Las Vegas but everything between Reno and Salt Lake City in Utah. Those mountains are beautiful.
Wake up silly!!!
I live right next to where u r standing. Love this place rattlesnake mountain ur on
Any hot spring around Carson City ?
There are several in the area.
Which area is better for retirees?
Shoot us an email.
It depends on what you want. I love the small town feel in Carson, the State library and archives. The view of the mountains is great.
The mountain views in Reno are a little more distant, but bring back memories of my childhood. More shopping, the University, the river, which is a great place to go with your dog, or just by yourself to listen to the water.
I will be really torn, when circumstances improve and I can come home to Northern Nevada.
Are the camel races still being run up in Virginia City?
Now those races are a hoot! lol
Yes they sure do ☺️
What? I didn't even know there were camels in the US.

I'm teally concerned about safety in Reno and Carson City! Cam you tell how safe it is??
Have you found out how safe it is? Can’t stand Las Vegas thinking of moving to Northern Nevada
don't worry about safety in cc...the cops are plentiful and bored, and the speed limit is pretty much 25 mph throughout. A mile over, ticket!
Homelessness. Which city is worse? Reno or CC?
Definitely Reno and that is due to the size and resources Reno offers.
That intro music is grating. Just get to it, it’s good material

Hard to say with everything increasing, but taxes not bad, crime is high, rent skyrocketing
Are there higher salaried jobs arriving in the Reno region? The businesses you mentioned are more along the lines of manual labor and delivery (Amazon) jobs.
It definitely depends on the industry. But to answer your question, yes.
My cousin does her only fans to suplament her income at her amazon job
Wages are garbage there. Unless your IT and such.
I live in Reno, have lived here since 1976 and what they are doing to us is appalling. Home prices are in the stratosphere, homeless population is increasing daily, food lines are long, and the tech people keep coming, out of state developers are welcomed by our City Council, and they are building in areas that should NOT have housing, like a flood plain and wetlands, and what is being built is not affordable for so many that live here.
Comparing Carson City and Reno is like comparing apples and oranges...
BTW--We are at 4,600 feet of altitude...
and quit saying we are in a 'desert'--we are in the High Sierra foothills... Deserts do not have year round running rivers...
Ever heard of the Nile?
@@chrisharris7931 #Nonsense
From the comments below, it seems Carson City is nicer but perhaps a bit dull and that Reno is simply not a good place to live. Bummer. What about churches in both communities? Different types of opportunities to volunteer? Libraries? Art and history museums? Cool coffee houses in both communities? What are the schools like in both communities? Etc. I'm a hiker and love camping. Those two activities are huge, but I want a city/town/community that's interesting. The comments about Californians fleeing California because of cost of living, crime in some cities, a huge homeless population (and growing), over priced housing (rentals and ownership) are all true, and its more than a shame what they're doing to the communities where they move.
Everything you have mentioned is spot on Shelley. I will say, Carson City is a fraction of Reno and according to neighborhoodscout.com Carson City is safer than 39% of US. cities.
If you need a job to live, Reno is better. Lived in Carson, tried 3 yrs to get a job, hundreds of applications no interviews and had to go to Reno to actually get a job.
Its not where you live, its how you live. For the noble, living virtuously with kindness towards all, their concerns are for humanity not for their own safety or the safety of their possessions. They freely give to those in need without worry. These noble people know they are well protected by their virtue. Virtue is the highest blessing. The virtuous know what I am talking about through their own experience of this truth. 🙏🙂 lets pray people find the real values of living so earth will naturally be in harmoney with heaven and be free of natural disasters that we are facing now. It doesnt matter how far you run or if Elon Musk moves you to Mars. Soon you will have to meet the Lord of Death, and the most important and only question that you face is How you lived. Its a valuable question to consider now.
And his is live in Caron city ? For a virtuous people?
I love Carson!
I’ve been in Carson city since 2016, it’s way better than Reno to live in.
Reno / Sparks is much better in terms of the things you can do, but Carson has cheaper Sales Tax on things like Cars, etc.
@@RajatSharma-kv5kn yes rank is much bigger then carson city Reno is better than carson
Carson is 1000x nicer than Reno
They both suck and are boring
Oh south Reno. The most over inflated region of Norther Nevada. Where you pay 1 million to live 5 inches away from your neighbors in an HOA. Born and Raised. I hate what Reno has turned into.
It's California now. Just like ALL the mountain cities have become.
@@thebabbler8867 Yep, sad truth. Now that California is so bad all the Rats are jumping ship to every state around them and beyond. Texas is flooding, AZ, and they took over colorado quite a few years ago hard.
@@Silent_Shadow
California has always been an expensive place to live. The main reason people are moving now is because the pandemic has cause most companies to work remotely. My company closed their San Francisco office and employees will now be permanently working remotely, as many companies are doing. This is the reason I moved. I'm still in California, but I moved from SF to South Lake Tahoe since I enjoy snowboarding. But many people are probably moving out of state because of cheaper housing and working remotely.
Reno approaching a 500k median home price is a ridiculous bubble. While you cleverly flash corporate logos of Apple, Google, Tesla, etc. lets be specific: Apple and Google are expanding and starting server farms, that's it: server farms. Post construction they'll have about 100 blue collar type custodial jobs. Tesla together with Panasonic operates a sweaty battery factory that starts at $17 bucks an hour. The work is hard and grueling. Elon Musk has called Tesla's Reno plant "obsolete" and no one should be surprised if and when battery production and vehicle assembly are relocated to Texas.
Amazon operates an increasingly automated distribution center in Reno, again blue collar, entry-level type jobs in warehouses that are hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
Paul O -- To say that Reno is in a bubble is an understatement. It's the freakin' Hindenburg.
@@marilynguinnane4663 I escaped in October, condo is now sold. I don't miss seeing men in wife beaters, covered in tattoos, idle during working hours with unleashed pitbulls in tow everywhere.
@@paulo7200 -- Not getting personal; after all, I don't know your last name, but out of curiosity, where did you move? Have been thinking of cutting out, too, but can't decide where to go. ?? Thanks.
If I were younger I'd be outta here. I've been here since 1976, left Marin County and now it's the worst of California WITH the blessing of our officials.
''I was talking to a friend who has a cabinet and remodel business here. She came from New York over 50 years ago and she too is horrified at what is happening here.
OMG, that monstrosity, Parklane Mall, now the "Reno Experience" I think? What an abomination. An under 400 square foot studio goes for 1700.00 per month. The reason? "Well, the people coming from California are used to paying this kind of rent". So what about the people that clean their toilets? They deserve to be homeless?
They won't stop until every square inch of the Truckee Meadows in paved over.
@@pamelawing626 -- Real estate here was in a big bubble when I lived here in Reno last time. Before I moved back to Sonoma Co., I told everyone the bubble would burst. No one believed me. "Oh no, the Californians are retiring here!" Then in 2007 or '08, the bubble burst, big time, & Reno real estate went into a tailspin. I couldn't stomach the politics of CA any longer, though I'm a 4th generation Californian, and moved back up here in 2018. The real estate bubble is going to burst again, and it isn't far off. Our entire economy is a train wreck thanks to the HOAX covid-19 b.s. (check this out: www.bitchute.com/video/H9GyqoPMvfRa/ )
What’s with all the republicans in this comment section
hahaha we definitely have a 50/50 mix.
You belong in California.
Is it true prostitution is legal?
Yes, several counties have legal brothels'.
NO, not in Washoe County. You have to head down to Carson City area or a few miles east into Storey County.
I've been here my entire life you forgot how they've turned the city into house amd homeless. Unaffordable rents and wages you cannot even afford to live off of you know the important stuff a 1 bedroom 1500 a minth if your lucky people come here and struggle. The crime is way up now amd downtown reno is disgusting homeless panhandling it litterally isn't safe to go downtown at night anymore. If you live in north reno it takes over a hour to get to town because of all the traffic now if your going to promote MY town make sire you tell both sides not only the things that you can do be honest
Reno is literally the most boring place you can move to nothing do to do but to go to casinos
and... your point is?
The people are boring! No one has any personality. At least Vegas has an exciting vibe and the girls are somewhat good looking.
haaa Yanelli! Total truth...you forgot drinking, drugging, and freezing cold
As Republican refugees,
coming from Commiefornia, I have to ask, how is it politically? Also, i know you touched on the weather a little bit, but we'd like some more info. I've read that it does snow, but it doesn't stay for long. Would you agree with that, as a local? Are the winters anything like the Midwest? I lived in Michigan for 2 years when I was younger, and my husband lived in Minnesota with his ex wife for 10 years. We definitely don't want winters like that! However, being from Southern California, we can handle wind!
I get where you are coming from. The political climate is a good mix here in Reno. Carson City is leaning quite a bit more conservative due to it being a smaller city, but I am coming from Northern Idaho and Reno isn't terrible. Regarding weather, the winters are nowhere near Michigan or the Midwest. Majority of all of our snow stays in the mountains. Last winter we had snow stick around in the valley for a couple weeks, but we're talking about 2-4". Very tolerable. Shoot us an email if you want any additional info.
Resident vs tourist... being a resident in Reno is the worst place to live... riding the city bus is always a bad experience... having a gym membership is always a horrible experience... locals look transient...they look homeless... eating in restaurants and buffets... will give you bad body odor... they have many temporary employment agencies... a lot of warehouses to work in, never tell anybody your name they're all backstabbers! You'll have be able to tolerate rudeness and impoliteness.
I think that's pretty accurate. I rode the city bus once and it felt like the bar scene from the original Star Wars. It drives me nuts that people keep repeating that "tech companies" are coming here. There's nothing beyond server farms and warehouse jobs.
oh, you can get a happy ending massage at one of the many dirty parlors across from the Atlantis!
I can't dispute your complaints about the bus service, but I've found that to be true in all the American cities I've lived in. If you don't like, figure out where you want to live and go there.
