I asked--and I know can't be the only one--and you listened: I'd like to sincerely thank you for including some Cassandra-approved products that are $10 or less. My wife and I most definitely don't earn anywhere near what we are worth, even at 39 and 42 years old and employed full time (we DO earn more than minimum wage, but I just wanna say that the hourly minimum wage where we live is $7.25. It ain't easy out here!) However, we both do still love our skincare routines and treat them as essential self-care...so, officially...THANK YOU for mentioning affordable options for poor folk like us.
I make enough money, but still don't want to spend a bomb on skincare. I'm always looking for reasonably priced products as well. Following people like Cass, doctorly, I learned that I don't have to spend a lot. There are multiple really good products that are fairly priced. Don't feel bad about not wasting money on things, you're just being smart.
A brand that's amazing that Cassandra doesn't mention (and is affordable) is Peach Slices. They are under Peach and Lily which is much more expensive but the Peach Slices line is just as amazing and for a fraction of the cost. ❤
Your channel has been great for both me and my teenage daughter. Your info and positivity are what we all need. I'm thankful for this amazing community.
🦃 gobble gobble 🦃 Thank you so much for the pyunkang yul essence toner and the haru haru toner recommendations!!!! Both greatly help in keeping my skin hydrated through 11 hours of heat in the kitchen ❤
I love Pacifica it is literally amazing. Majority of my skincare is from there. I am trying to go almost all vegan and cruelty free in my makeup and skincare. So they are great for that.
Hi Cassandra, I know you made this a while ago but I just wanted to share my perspective about j-beauty vs k-beauty as someone who has lived in japan and Korea for the last 12 years. I got in to k and j beauty very early and watched as kbeauty blew up recently. What’s interesting is in fact it was first japan that was considered to have more advanced skincare and in around the early 2000s kbeauty companies started off by imitating Japanese lines, right down to the packaging and formulas. A good example is k-company MISSAHA’s Time Revolution essence which is almost the same thing as j-company SK-II’s Treatment essence. The appeal of kbeauty was at first that it seemed to offer the same technology as Japanese brands but as a fraction of the price (though kbeauty is more expensive now and front line brands have changed a lot). I know so many Japanese girls who will take weekend trips to korea just to buy cheap skincare, and I did the same. Thus the way it stands in my opinion is that Japan is not about to do what kbeauty did. There are some very nice Japanese skincare brands out there for those who can afford the price tag. There has for a long time been a huge vitamin c and hyaluronic acid following in japan (sheet masks started in japan truth be told) but these days they haven’t quite managed to keep up with other the actives trends, as in there are no ordinary-esque brands out there. Might be because japan is very careful about what drugs and formulas it approves. However some long-standing and quality brands you might want to try are hadalabo (I still use their cult fave Gokujyun hyaluronic acid and low PH facewash 10 years later), d-Program, FANCL and iPSA.. anyway if you ask me kbeauty is still gonna be where it’s at for a while to come.
Just watched your video! Thank you for always putting the links in the description in every video - i cannot tell you how useful and appreciated that is, especially knowing you will try and recommend only cruelty free products! 🦃
i honestly discovered so much skincare through you last year, it’s wild! not sure what’s new and not, but i know my favorite product i discovered last year was the glass skin serum by peach and lily 🦃
🦃 🦃 I love your videos and have made so many purchases from your recommendation. I'm about to go through a bunch of videos to find more things to spend my Christmas money on!!!
Hey Cassandra! Firstly, you are god sent 😅 Thank you for all the effort you put in your videos to educate us. Secondly, do you think one should keep trying different products? I have a set skin routine with fixed brands products and it works for me quite well.
I do agree about Korean skincare … I mean what’s the big deal it’s just a bunch of moisturizers. I actually have skin issues and need stuff that does stuff. It’s fine for people that have great skin and just want to maintain - then more power to you if it’s great because it comes out of Korea … but for me I need stuff that does stuff.
Loved this video 🙏do you have any alternatives of the peach and lills bump boss product? They are not sold, shipped to my country.. I cannot wait to see the video dedicated to your hair loss journey and the products you are using ❤️
🦃🦃 One new skincare product that I purchased this year is Dr. Youn's Retinol Serum. I believe I also picked up a sample size of a new RetrinAL product from Avène, but keep forgetting to use it. My favorite brand of sunscreen for years has been EltaMD. I didn't care as much for their tinted sunscreen but I love their moisturizing sunscreen that is SPF 40. So comfortable and effective!
I would LOVE to have Korean and other skincare products but here in Brazil they cost a FORTUNE. The basics and something more like toner or essence (from those brands Cassandra suggests) would coast my mom's entire month salary. That doesn't mean we don't have good products, but they are much less accessible in comparison. It's starting to change, slowly though.
Hi I love your videos! Can you make one on milia, i have super dry sensitive skin and have been getting some under my nose and eye! Would love to hear any tips or videos on it! 🦃
I love glow recipe Banana soufflé. It’s helping my acne a lot 😁 But I thought it’s K beauty brand, and I get so disappointed when I read on a package it’s made in USA, and was just inspired by K beauty, lol 😂
The Pacifica vegan ceramide cream doesn’t compare to cerave in anyway I’ve used both and Pacifica was nice but just not it for my skin. Skincare by Hiram is nice but if it never came out nothing would have changed and donating profits is awesome but if you want to be more sustainable you don’t launch a brand you push other brands to do better and force them to make change and there certainly have been brands that have done that.
I just got a nuface, and while I like the device, the gel started burning my skin after a couple of uses. I'm gonna try and use it entirely on its own and not part of my day/night routine and see if it still does it, but I'm leary of any of their skincare now.
I personnally love pacificas sea foam wash wich has algae its good for healing the skin or sumn. Also can you react or tell us info about oh ok the korean skin care product that is found in shoppers drug mart. Their antioxidant with vitamin c is so good for my skin
🦃 Hello from Australia 👋. I've been binge watching too many skin care videos (currently Dr Davin Lim and Dr Sherene Idriss) and buying too many skin care items (promise for 2022 - use what you've got!) And Cassandra... this is all your fault! You led me down this rabbit hole 🤣 Also... thank you. My skin is glowing. 🦃
@@mamma_G I completely agree. What a God sent angel. Learning about skincare kept me completely sane while studying this year; and incredibly distracted from the covid blues.
I had to put myself on a skincare no buy for the last year (except vit c and tretinoin) because of all the shit I have. It’s been a little rough, I won’t lie. I have enough skincare for probably 2 years and I’m using it til it’s done. I looked at some of the expiration dates and some are from 2019. It kills me to throw things away but I have no one to blame but myself. However, this whole no buy has really been eye opening for me.
@@scray00 yeah, I hate wasting things. I'm having little skincare parties with friends where we put on a mask and paint nails then literally have a picnic in my living room (it's been raining here recently) so that has been fun. I feel like I'm spreading the contagion though 😅
You put me on to the Dr Sam train. I'm loving all the product, except for the sunscreen that won't absorb into my skin. I contacted them about it and they just wrote back you have to use our 13 dot metode.. won't be repurchasing that one 🦃
Cassandra does the Nuface skin care that works with Trinity have to be reapplied like the gel as it absorbs? That's what makes me lazy about using. I'd pay this price if it get me through a full treatment without reapplying. Thank you! (insert Turkey here because I couldn't figure it out)
🦃🦃 I bought the April Skin red and purple set, based off one of your videos, and I absolutely love both serums! Thank you so much for all the hard work you do!
🦃 Hi, I'm a chemist, so I think I can answer your question regarding polyglycolic acid. Is it bad for the environment? Well, it is a plastic, but not one like Polythylene, but a Polyester that's susceptible to hydrolysis. Normal plastic (and some polyesters, too) don't get degraded in the environment. That's why they only get smaller and smaller through physical abrasion which leads to the plastic that's floating on the sea or getting eaten by fish. Polyglycolic acid is synthesized from glycolic acid and liberates water during that reaction. The reaction is reversible, so if it comes into contact with water, it gets converted into glycolic acid again. That doesn't happen immediately, but takes a few months - but that's the reason it is added to these products. (But not, like, hard pipes or something that needs to transport water and not get dissolved by it lol)
Yes, I can testify that the vitamin C serum by Boots is AMAZING!!! POC, go for it!!! It works wonders! Use it consistently and see how much brighter your skin looks!
Regimen Lab’s Vitamin X serum is the best vitamin C serum I’ve tried. BeautyStat’s doesn’t oxidize and stain clothing. Sunday Riley’s provides a nice glow.
Boots has had their own brand for a while but…it used to be one of those “teenage blackhead clearing” cliche brands that was packed with fragrance and not so great ingredients. The new boots ingredients range came out this year as a result of them gradually improving their formulations to adapt to the new simplistic skincare popularity boom thanks to amazing influencers like you making everyone take time to reflect on their skincare knowledge (or lack of) during the lockdowns 🎉🎉🎉
The Ordinary just launched an oil based salicylic acid 2% serum! You missed it cause they dropped it at the end of the year. 🦃 P.S. I worked for TATCHA before it was the big brand it is now and it’s always weird/fun to hear influencers and celebrities mention it. Vicky Tsai, the owner, is quite sweet.
I would give your comment a double thumbs up if I could (no, not "give her a thumbs up and then regret it and then hit the thumbs up button again to take the original thumbs up away" lol)
Oh good shit!! The Ordinary SA serum is a MIRACLE, when they took it off shelves to reformulate i was so upset.. It was gone for sooo long too. This is the first i heard of it being back, going to order literally right now lol
I switched to Pyunkang Yul essence toner from Tatcha & I have no regrets. I still love my other Tatcha items, but that one was just so pricey. 🦃I also use the Pacifica brand like crazy!! I cannot get enough of ALL their products 💚❤️
She has oily skin and that product is geared more to people with dry skin..but I have dry skin and I don’t like it! it’s too greasy even using just a single drop and takes a while to absorb 🥴
With all the maskne out there and people staying home and needing some self care the trend of focusing on skincare actually started way back at the beginning of the pandemic, and I couldn't be happier about that. Selfishly as a skincare brand it helped sustain my business despite the closures of spas, but also I just believe in prioritizing skincare, particularly if you have sensitive or problem-prone skin. 🙂🦃🦃🦃
🦃🦃 Love almost every single new launch you mentioned! Good Molecules did launch an essence and glycolic acid toner this year, and The Ordinary launched the newly reformulated 2% Salicylic Acid serum. OH and dermalogica released a vitamin c gel cream as well (pls review it 😭) Happy new year Cass! 💕🦃
Peach and Lilly came out with a lactic acid serum I'm excited to get I'm going to get it today heard great things about it. The ordinary came out out with a BHA serum to this year the reviews are split on that one.
🦃 In 2021 I absolutely fell in love with everything fermented!! We need more drugstore products with things like kombucha and black rice. I was excited to see the pink eye patches because I’m allergic to gold 🥺. love you fellow beautiful butterfly 🦋 love love and I hope you had an amazing time with friends and family over the holidays. Thank you for being so generous and an admired skintellectual! Xoxo -Kristen, The Skincare Concierge
The Apostrophe and ZitSticka sunscreens are also on my top faves and fun fact I lost my Megashade bc my mom stole it haha! It’s so good. Also, The Ordinary launched their Salicylic Acid Anhydrous serum for like $6 bucks!
@@scray00 that one from The Ordinary can be greasy. It's squalane-based and it doesn't contain water. You may want to try The Inkey List Beta Hydroxy Acid or Geek & Gorgeous Cheer Up (this one contains 6% Mandelic Acid and 1% Salicylic Acid). Those products are good and decently priced, in my opinion. CeraVe also has the new Acne Control Gel, which basically is a BHA serum, but i haven't tried that one, although it does have good reviews.
@@whitepaper5241 thanks for the heads up. Yeah I’m not interested in that then. I hate when companies do stuff like that. It’s a bha, you want that closest to the skin but how are any of your other steps going to penetrate 🤦♀️ I will try one of your suggestions 😊
What a great list! 🦃🦃🦃I've gotten so many products recommended by you ( some faves are the elf holy hydration gel & sleeping mask & sunscreen moisturizer and also the pyungkan yul toner, all of which I absolutely LOVE!)
🦃 Hi, I just wanted to point out that I doubt that Algenist is completely cruelty free. They do not test themselves on animals but they allow animal testing if required by law. That's the reason I never purchased their products.
I'm glad to see you like the Glow Recipe Guava Vitamin C Serum! I purchased it but have only used it once because I'm trying to use up other skincare products first. I like that it doesn't have a strong fragrance. I hope to use it regularly soon and see results! I've used up their Niacinamide Dew Drops and may repurchase it in the future. I used it as a primer and liked how smoothing it was under makeup.
🦃 Loved the recap!! So many products get chatted about throughout the year its nice to give us a "best of" list if we want to try something new or different. THANX😉
I LOVE the holy hydration moisturizer. I’ve used the regular and the fragrance free and they do feel different. The fragrance free feels heavier and even with sensitive skin I haven’t noticed any issues with the normal version. I’ve also heard it’s a dupe for the drunk elephant peptide moisturizer but I can’t speak to how true that is.
🦃 looking out for the Selfless revisit! That line launched RIGHT when I was first getting into skincare, and I saw enough critical things to turn to other products. (Actually found you because of that review) I was just coming off of isotretinoin therapy and had no idea how to take care of my new skin. I’m still not super sure how to look for certain concerns, because all I ever knew was oily acne. I love learning in this space!
Habit skin has a great SPF mist that goes amazingly over makeup, or even just to reapply throughout the day, and ooo its so glowy too! They have their OG scent(my bf and I call it old lady perfume...so...take that however you'd like) and also a new Cucumber scent(much better). I wear makeup so it was important for me to find something that works with makeup, and that spray is the only thing I've found that works, and works great
Highly recommended my favorite holiday gift #touchbeauty face roller trifecta. Super easy to include in the skincare routine. A new try for me. But I love the microcurrent so much. My jaw-line is much better. The facial contour is pretty good!!
Gobble, gobble! Loving the ELF Holy Hydration line, and I can't wait to try the Pacifica vegan ceramide line. Once I finish up my Holika Holika ceramide cream, I'm trying the Pacifica to compare.
@@cherylreitz4779 I used to use the Dr. Jarrt (Jaart? Jartt? Whatever) ceramide cream until I went cruelty-free. The Holika Holika is a fantastic substitute.
🦃🦃🦃 So glad you introduced me to the Pacifica vegan ceramide cream. It’s been saving my skin this winter! I love slathering it on before I go to bed and waking up with my skin feeling soft and moisturized.
🤪 The algeonist dark spot correcting vitamin C peel is absolutely wonderful!!! It completely REMOVED several Stubborn Dark Spots I had. I was getting ready to make another Laser Treatment Appointment, when I bought and tried this Product! Needless to say I DIDN'T make that other Laser Appointment for THAT Problem again! I still do Laser Treatments but for different reasons now. For those that can't afford the Laser Treatments, THIS Product absolutely IS worth YOUR Money to buy! It will help remove those Spots 💯!!!
Dr Sam serum is on my list as well as the Algenist! I got an Algenist eye cream (I know, I know) in a subscription box and omg does it feel luxurious! Interested in what else they have to offer. Happy New year!! 🦃🦃
I also got it in my Boxycharm and i am really loving it!!! I uaually cant do real thick creams under my eyes but this is goood!!!!! You only need a tiny amount. Last nigt i was looking in the mirror and for once saw a huge difference with the skin around my eyes and cheekbones(where i also put it) it just looked so smooth and moistened compared to the rest of my face... nice to have a subscription where you get to try products you probably wouldnt otherwise..especially higher end!
Help!!!! My skin has lost it mind. here we are the beginning winter and my face is reproducing ennough oil to lube. 57 Chevrolet.. 100% backward. PS have 23 inches of snow.
Girl, PEGs are usually made from oil. I mean the. are by-products from petroleum refining and can also be derived from natural gas or coal. That alone makes them bad for the environment.
🦃 Gotta say, my acne prone face loooves everything Apostrophe, Zitsticka AND Peace Out has put out! Am really enjoying the Peace Out Repairing Moisturizer!
I know you care about products being vegan and cruelty free, affordable and all that, but what are your thoughts on the Amazon walk out ???? The conditions people work in that company that you promote all the time ?
FWIW ever since the transition between Boomers and Gen X, there is a recognized transition period of a few years around the cut off where you're a microgeneration. It has to do with globalization and, especially, the advent of the internet. I'm a 97 baby and we are the Zennials or Zentenials because we are the inbetweens of Y and Z.
Hi I'm a new subscriber. Been waiting for you to talk abt roseaca. It looks like Dr Sam's Neutralizing Gel is the one to try! Where can I buy it in US?
there's an influencer in Britain who introduced his own line: Mad About Skin (youtube channel of the same name). I'd love to hear your thoughts on his line. Also, Geek and Gorgeous (brand), Face Theory (brand) and the Beauty of Joseon cleansing balm (new 2021). 🦃 Hugs to you, you perfectly purple butterfly person.
Elf has been in target CVS and Wal-Mart for a few yrs I like their products but they have fragrance in them granted it is not as bad as some lines but my skin is not a fan of it hoping one day it is removed so I can go back to using their products plus a lot of their jars etc are not recyable

Love Tatcha!!
it is not oil based. it's squalane based, so it has no oil or water
I switched to Pyunkang Yul essence toner from Tatcha & I have no regrets. I still love my other Tatcha items, but that one was just so pricey. 🦃I also use the Pacifica brand like crazy!! I cannot get enough of ALL their products 💚❤️
DO YOU KNOW HOW EXCITED I AM TO SEE CASSANDRA REVIEW AN ALGENIST PRODUCT!
I’ve been waiting so long for a “truth of” for Algenist video!
Love you ❤️
If anyone is wanting to try J-Beauty,
Start with anything HadaLabo, Kose, KAO, or Curel (NOT the American version of Curel).
You completely missed out the new 2% anhydrous salicylic acid serum that the ordinary just launched 😱😱
Waiting for your review on this one 😁
She has oily skin and that product is geared more to people with dry skin..but I have dry skin and I don’t like it! it’s too greasy even using just a single drop and takes a while to absorb 🥴
OH MY F#&*!!! I thought I was a millennial, but now turns out I'm gen z, all my life is a lie😭😭😭
Ooooh I’ll have to check that out. I’ve been looking for a bha serum, because I’m not a fan of the paulas choice one it leaves my skin feeling icky.
@@scray00 the anhydrous one is a heavy oil that doesn't absorb well. Just a warning
@@JustinSmith-ug9wm thanks. I’m glad you both said something. $6 is $6 in the trash if I hate the product. Ty 😊
What a great list! 🦃🦃🦃I've gotten so many products recommended by you ( some faves are the elf holy hydration gel & sleeping mask & sunscreen moisturizer and also the pyungkan yul toner, all of which I absolutely LOVE!)
🦃
Hi, I just wanted to point out that I doubt that Algenist is completely cruelty free.
THANX😉
I'm grateful for the ordinary lactic acid! Changed my skin. I always said this brand were overrated. Now I'm loving it.
Hey, Cassandra! Just wanted to say thank you for all the amazing content. You got me HOOKED on skincare. Happy New Year! 🥳 🦃
I wear makeup so it was important for me to find something that works with makeup, and that spray is the only thing I've found that works, and works great
Wait I’m so confused 😭 Does SPF go after skincare, before makeup or after makeup?
After skincare!
@Sakura okay, thanks! I was a little confused by the beginning of the video 😂
I ordered the Peach and Lily KP Bump Boss from Ulta and now I'm "patiently" tracking it so I can get rid of my 🦃skin arms. 🤣🖤
*A video on how to cover rosacea well like cover flushed face in public.. any good vasoconstructor or some guide please*
Have you tried the HH Good cera emulsion? It looks like it's just a lighter version of the cream.
I have the cream and love it for this time of year won't use in summer cause too heavy but for winter it is GREAT
@@WendeCrow I'm going to have to try it this summer!
I’ve been out of the skincare community for like half of this year, omg I’m so happy to be back 😩
Japanese indigo, would love to learn more about this ingredient
🦃 I really love Beauty of Joseon's "Dynasty Cream", it has loooots of goodies in it. I also think the Benton Honest Lip Balm is a pretty good product!
Dr Sam serum is on my list as well as the Algenist! I got an Algenist eye cream (I know, I know) in a subscription box and omg does it feel luxurious! Interested in what else they have to offer. Happy New year!! 🦃🦃
How have you been liking the eye cream?? Thinking of getting it
I also got it in my Boxycharm and i am really loving it!!! I uaually cant do real thick creams under my eyes but this is goood!!!!! You only need a tiny amount. Last nigt i was looking in the mirror and for once saw a huge difference with the skin around my eyes and cheekbones(where i also put it) it just looked so smooth and moistened compared to the rest of my face... nice to have a subscription where you get to try products you probably wouldnt otherwise..especially higher end!
words cannot describe how much this channel has helped my sister and i!! 🦃
Help!!!! My skin has lost it mind. here we are the beginning winter and my face is reproducing ennough oil to lube. 57 Chevrolet.. 100% backward.
PS have 23 inches of snow.
Many people rave about a line called peach slices it is part of peach and lily brand it is for oily acne skin and sold at CVS hope that helps
Samesies! Peace Out is so good for me
I know you care about products being vegan and cruelty free, affordable and all that, but what are your thoughts on the Amazon walk out ???? The conditions people work in that company that you promote all the time ?
Cassandra are you already in the process of trying the ordinary new salicylic acid serum (the anhydrous solution)?
FWIW ever since the transition between Boomers and Gen X, there is a recognized transition period of a few years around the cut off where you're a microgeneration. It has to do with globalization and, especially, the advent of the internet. I'm a 97 baby and we are the Zennials or Zentenials because we are the inbetweens of Y and Z.
Hi I'm a new subscriber. Been waiting for you to talk abt roseaca. It looks like Dr Sam's Neutralizing Gel is the one to try! Where can I buy it in US?
Love You CASS!. 🦃 Can you check the skincare brand line CIEN Q10 from ALDI?. PLEASE 🦃
there's an influencer in Britain who introduced his own line: Mad About Skin (youtube channel of the same name). I'd love to hear your thoughts on his line.
Also, Geek and Gorgeous (brand), Face Theory (brand) and the Beauty of Joseon cleansing balm (new 2021). 🦃
Hugs to you, you perfectly purple butterfly person.
Elf has been in target CVS and Wal-Mart for a few yrs I like their products but they have fragrance in them granted it is not as bad as some lines but my skin is not a fan of it hoping one day it is removed so I can go back to using their products plus a lot of their jars etc are not recyable
turkey!!
I’m confused. I recently watched another more recent video of hers and she said Glow Recipe Guava Serum is not worth it.
🦃 I think I've decided the Glow Recipe Vitamin C smells like red Sour Patch kids....
