Sharing this since it took me years to stop using makeup wipes as a diasbled person (myalgic encephalmyelitis, hashimoto's, fibromyalgia) who has mobility issues. I have a tiny caddy next to my bed with a cream cleanser (I use la roche posay dermo cleanser) along with a stack of baby wash cloths and a small spray bottle. Using something that doesn't have to be rinsed off has been a game changer! If make up wipes are the only thing that works, or are the only thing available, of course use them, but there are options for us spoonies!

I love how you mention having mobility or disability issues and wanting to use makeup wipes. I have pretty bad scoliosis so sometimes I'll come home from a shift at work and wipe it off to get the feeling of something off my face and lay down til the pain goes away and I can do my regular skincare routine. Jojoba oil is WAY better for acne prone skin then olive oil though, as it's the oil that most closely resembles our natural sebum. So it makes sense that that helped you! I'm going to guess she would've reacted quite a bit differently if Chloe had used that oil first instead of olive oil.

The word “gua” in gua sha is the word that means “to scrape”. It is only in recent years that I have heard people using gua sha to lift/firm up the face. I have also related gua sha to scraping shoulders or down the back to release tension and build up for stagnant blood to ease pain.

Hi! Although the box and description say makeup wipes (and the brand does make actual makeup wipes) the towels are really just biodegradable paper towels. You can use them with micellar water or something to remove your makeup so that’s why they advertise them as such, but the towels don’t have any substance in them, the wipes do.

The towel and pillow case is absolutely true. Everyone is different and some people get acne breakouts for different reasons. Like Accutane really works but in my case a year later gave me seizures. All of the products that Cassandra recommends didn’t work for me, like I said everyone is different so my skin routine is very simple now, vitamin C and a light moisturizer keeps my face acne free but I also have to take seizure pills because Accutane causes brain swelling for some people.

    • @worstkiterchan9207
      @worstkiterchan9207 Рік тому

@@lovequinn6782 I don't have bad acne, I used to have medium acne, hormonal (accompanied with periods lasting 2 weeks, then 3 months nothing).
It was horrible. I hated it. I managed to get out of it by starting a skincare routine MUCH LIGHTER than expected. I needed less moisturizer. I needed to drop The hydrating serum and stick to niacinamide. And the most interesting part for me - after my hormones were fine, the acne stayed for an extra 4 YEARS. Then I had these really painful massive clumps of oily pus under my skin that wouldn't create a cyst, but form a painful horn on my forhead or on my shoulders. I started retinol regularly. Gone. Nothing with the sheets, pillows and not suffocating my skin w makeup, nothing with washing towels constantly helped.
Crazy is, my acne-prone friend is a COMPLETE different story. Washing sheets and changing towels super often was the only way to keep her skin clear. It is crazy how each acne type is so different.
Btw, I also developed milia due to a moisturizer I was told would be great for me by a friend w similar skin. She never had issues, my undereyes were totaly not fine. Switched to The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA one - and I love it. My other friend? HATES THIS. It's crazy to me how different acne experiences can br.
Mind you my acne was tightly connected to my fucked up hormones and it wasn't a sever case or anything. It was just annoying and painful. Also, over the years, it migrated from my forhead mainly to my cheeks which I find interesting.

Hi and hello! I happen to be an 17 year old who suffered really badly with acne myself so in the meantime I thought I might let you know what I use! Of course, not everyone has the same type of acne but these suggestions should help regardless, they really are universal. Remember than acne fighting ingredients tend to be really harsh so please do not introduce all of these products in at once!
Cleanser 1 (only really needed if they wear makeup or sunscreen) - Oil based cleanser without fragrance! I really like basic drugstore brands for my skincare so see if cerave, cetaphil, aveeno, QV, or whatever alternative you might have where you live.
Cleanser 2 - Benzoyl peroxide cleanser. PanOxyl and Benzac make really good ones, but make sure you massage it into the fash for at least a minute but no more than 2 minutes, not 30 seconds like the bottles say. It has acne-bacteria fighting properties to prevent new acne from forming.
Treatment - Tretinoin. This is a prescription product and is often very expensive, however, I buy mine straight from the manufacturer via AllDayChemist for dirt cheap because the pharmacy hasn't gotten their markup on it yet. Use a pea size amount for the whole face and let fully dry for 5 minutes at least before moving on to moisturizer.
Moisturizer - With damp hands, I apply a very basic, no bells or whistles, and 100% fragrance free drugstore BODY moisturizer. Again, look for one from cerave, cetaphil, aveeno, QV, or whatever alternative you might have where you live, but make sure it has no other active ingredients (this is why I recommend a body moisturizer).
Oil - Rosehip seed oil. Although your child is suffering with acne and is probably dead afraid of oils I promise you that Benzoyl peroxide and Tretinoin will quickly dry them out, and a good acne-preventing oil like rosehip seed oil is a really good option to finish off the routine. You don't need more than 3 drops for your face and neck.
I hope this helped! Please let me know if you have any questions 😊

Hi Cassandra, thanks for the video! That top you're wearing is very becoming! The colors are excellent on you.
There's nothing wrong with "natural" skin care, but it's not necessarily better, and it's often heavily scented, which is bad for everybody's skin.
And I don't quite understand using oil on oily skin, but OK, if you're using a water based cleanser after it, it's probably not doing any harm.
I started seeing a dermatologist for acne and eczema when I was 15 and followed his advice religiously, so I never did some of these far out things to my face. I can understand the desperation though; I remember it well. I do remember using Avon Clear Skin cleaning grains on my face before I saw the derm, which is probably the craziest thing I ever did. And rubbing alcohol, or an astringent with it, but this was back in the 70s, and we didn't know any better.

Clean make up club are not wipes they’re soft clean towels. I use them to dry my face and it made a HUGE difference. They’re biodegradable and I absolutely love them. Also, the acne may “jump off of the pillow” but using a dirty pillow case, holding a dirty phone up to your face, or using a dirty towel to dry your face it absolutely can cause dirty to transfer to the face and cause a breakout.

    • @mandarina4157

Are they truly biodegradable? Cause half the stuff advertised as biodegradable actually isn’t or needs specific conditions to biodegrade, which won’t be happening if the user just throws them in the trash bin. So that still sounds like a lot of unnecessary waste that could be avoided by simply changing towels on a daily and washing them inbetween. Like get 7 towels for your face and wash them once a week.

It is not sustainable to use something one time and toss it SERIOUSLY it doesn't work that way. The way something is produced is more important than its death cycle. It is more sustainable to purchase something that will be used many times. The resources that go into a product are more intensive on the planet.

There's nothing wrong with oils if you have dry skin, or normal skin that's dry in cold weather. Oily skin doesn't need them though.

I guess I am the odd one out. From my own dermatologist, I use oil cleansing, my mix that took a while to figure out. I am allergic to many of of the coconut-derived chemicals in cleansers and have psoriasis. With heavy scrutiny, we've figured out how to keep other beneficials in my routine. At almost 50, I spent most of my life thinking it was largely acne, when it was really an allergic reaction. The last two years of oil cleansing I've been much clearer, still oily, but more balanced. And yes I do have hormonal acne flair ups.

For me out of curiosity since teenage years, I decided to buy one after looking at my salary budget😆(size 70ml, small) It’s actually beneficial for fine lines and to even skin tone. It’s not targeted for acne/breakout skin, but if you have acne scars or dark spots, it helps to lighten the colour. Not gonna heal overnight, for my skin it takes 1 month for real result. My skin feels smooth over 1 week which is good, but it takes longer for scars/spots. Different skin, different result. It works for me but I chose other alternatives which is more affordable and has the same ingredient, galactomyces. It’s good for skin but too expensive…

When she says, "Oil begets oil," I'm pretty sure she was saying that using olive oil regularly has made her skin naturally produce more oil and become more normal rather than bone dry. I don't think there's any evidence for topical oil leading to your skin producing more oil, but Hollywood isn't exactly the beacon of good skincare science. Olive oil has been shown in some studies to increase transepidermal water loss, so it's actually not a very good moisturizer overall, and if someone insists on slathering a pure oil on their face, there are better ones you could use.
I really wish this "natural is better" mindset would die though. Chloe seems like the sweetest person ever, and I'm glad whatever she's doing is working for her. But I hate imagining all the folks out there with a tight budget spending hundreds of dollars to copy her routine because they're desperate to resolve their acne issues. Just keep it simple and stick with boring-ass skincare with active ingredients that get the job done 😑

I'd rather deal with all this than the oily skin and scalp and cystic acne I used to have, but YMMV. To paraphrase something my mom used to say, whatever you do, you're going to have problems to deal with. It's a question of deciding which set of problems you want to have.

As for the towels and pillowcases myth:
Her towels could have been breaking her out due to other types of bacteria. I notice it in my own skin: when it’s been a while since I’ve changed my towels and pillowcases, my skin becomes more clogged up (nothing in my routine changes) and when I finally put on a fresh pillowcase and a fresh towel is hung up, my skin clears up within 2 days. Mind you, I have very curly hair and I use a lot of cream on my hair, so I know some of that gets on my pillow. Same goes for all the oil my face produces when I sleep (sometimes when I wake up, my nose is so oily I can glide my finger across it and I’ll feel like jello)
So simply from personal experience, I’ll side with Chloe on this one.
Also, it might be the Italian in me, but Olive oil is great for your hair and body. Maybe not for your entire face (although it’s great for your eyes and eyelashes)

I didn't know that about pillow cases. I thought the bacteria from the pimples and whatever got onto the pillow case and then the next night it re-infects you. Like when you pop a pimple and then the surrounding area can get infected and then you got more pimples (unless you destroy the popped pimple area with benzoyl peroxide like me).
Turns out it's more like, products and dead skin and skin oils and also bacteria from that, including potentially saliva. Can be irritating to the skin or cause a secondary infection that leads to pimples and whatever. Something like that.
Which means it's not AS pressing of an issue to change the pillow cases super duper often.

Tatcha sells several of these dry Rice cleansers for different skin types. I refer you to the videos by Peach & Lily, where the founder demos her morning routine. I’ve seen The acne products from Peach Slices at Walmart now. They are really starting to carry more Korean brands, at cheaper prices & they work.😉

Hey Cassandra! I would love to hear you review the brand Beautycounter. They are a clean beauty brand and I would love to hear your thoughts on the brand, the products, maybe the mission, and the prices. Great video!

20:09 not neccessairly true. Borago oil, squalane or rosehip oil work best when locked in with a moisturizer.

I really love Weleda’s skin food moisturizer, but the scent is overwhelming. Even when used as a hand cream it’s a lot of fragrance.

What are those possible religious reasons why not to go with accutane? I'm curious :o

When I took Accutane, I was told that I must not get pregnant while I was taking it because the fetus would have serious (possibly fatal) birth defects. My birth control method at the time was complete abstinence, for reasons of my own, so no problem!
I'm not certain of this, but, I've heard that nowadays Accutane is prescribed with the Pill. It's possible that people who don't believe in using birth control might have a problem with that. That's the only religious reason I can think of.
