- This extreme furniture makeover is part of the Ugly Duckling Challenge hosted by Cory over on Desert DIY. This bench has definitely gone from trash to treasure, in fact, I have sold it already! It was a LOT of work but the end result is something not to be missed. I hope you enjoy this furniture flip 😉

That hot glue mold was like a magic trick. I would love a tutorial on that!

Sarah you are absolutely an artist. What an incredible transformation of this bench. The finish is stunning and I loved learning how to make a mold from hot glue. I definitely will try this next time I need to make that type of repair. This is the most dramatic and intense remake I’ve seen so far in the challenge and you mastered it beautifully. Wow! I would have trouble selling this one. This could easily replace my velvet fainting couch - something I never thought I would say. As I read comments I was thinking I should ask the price - then I saw your post stating it sold. Congratulations! No road trip to Nashville for me next week.

W O W! What a transformation, Sarah! You’ve posted a few pics of this bench all week and couldn’t wait to see what you did with this sad (ugly duckling) bench and you did not disappoint. The rustic feel with the elegant decoupage paper came together so well. And adding the tea rose was SPOT ON! It just really tied it all together, especially bc of the little bit of pink in the paper. Excellent job of turning her from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan!💜

This was the perfect piece for this challenge. What an incredible transformation Sarah! Total coastal vibes, definitely my jam 😍 I'd love a bandsaw (or a scroll saw) too. Makes quicker and cleaner work of curves for sure!
