How I Make A Cow Whip

- There are many ways to make a cow whip. This particular design is one I developed for taking the metal bottle tops off of glass bottles.
These whips are 6 ft long. It is easy to change the shape and taper of the whip by changing when you add strands to the overlay, and when you add strands to the core.

Has anyone used Dynemma (UHMWPE) for whip making?
Ive got loads of old paraglider dynemma cord. ive made two whips, one super low cost para cord core with plastic fiber filler and metal ball chain for weight with insulation tape around it.
The other with para cord and climbing tape over it.

I like it a lot. I like that it is faster and easier than doing multiple plaited bellies and even more because there is no waste, I hate stripping the cores out and adding the problems of man made non degradable rubbish. Is there a video that explains in more detail how to construct a whip from the end rather than the handle Adam? Many thanks
David Phillipson, sorry, there isn’t a more detailed video. I guess my whip making videos are meant for whip makers who will take an idea and experiment with it.

I made one Adam, in only two hours, used half of the paracord and NO WASTE at all. The thong ended up just shy of 6', I had 10 strands in the core and finished with a 10 plait. I left some spare at the tip of the whip so I could finish it with a conventional fall hitch, I don't seem to be very good at doing a twist finish. The finished thong sleeved nicely into some PVC pipe (18") just for my prototype, I will make a wooden one for my next one. The only issue I have with the finished whip is some kinks where I've added strands but wow, it cracks beautifully, thank you again for your UA-cam channel, it rocks!

If you have made a couple whips already, my explanation should make enough sense for you to try making one of these.
The build is also similar to the Bare Bones Bullwhip tutorial on the Nick’s Whip Shop channel.
Where do you get the handles from?
Very similar to my design, except I make a plaited belly with 2/3s of the length with shot. And over the handle end of the whip thong I put a deer skin boot to protect thr sinew.
