    There is a lot of very good and informative videos about whipmaking on UA-cam, but this is the best and "easiest-to-follow" instruction I have seen. Thank you

  • @andrewtalamas

    I made this whip white and red call it candy cane. When i use it, it doesn’t roll out neatly preventing it from cracking easily. I believe the problem lies in the rotation from the thong inside the coupling. But i may be mistaken. Maybe the dropping strands wasnt in the right place. Or maybe i made the twist 3 and twist 2 strands before the fall too long. I get 1 good crack after 5 or 6 attempts. When i use my miniature bullwhip that i made it cracks a much higher percentage. Im lost because i believe this should have been a better whip than my bullwhip had much higher hopes don’t know where i messed up

  • @Wolverine05
    @Wolverine05 3 роки тому +1

    Nick does a different starting to the twist. What's your opinion on the difference

    • @CanadaWhips
      @CanadaWhips  3 роки тому +4

      The different start to the twist doesn't make much of a difference as far as I can tell, however Nick is a much better whip maker than me so I would go with his method if you're looking for the best one :) This tutorial is fairly old and I made it quickly in order to fill a gap on UA-cam. I've changed a lot of my construction methods since this came out. Hopefully I'l replace it someday.

    Great tutorial! Thank you. Two Questions: Why didn't you use a metal based core (bbs, ball chain, airplane cord, etc. It seems like most builds include them. Is it because of the waxing)?
    and, Have you made any projects using the inner core that you remove? :)

    • @CanadaWhips
      @CanadaWhips  4 роки тому +3

      Great questions!
      You're right, the waxing removes the need for the BBs because it adds weight to the whip. I like to use wax more than BBs because it's easier and I feel the weight distribution is a little better. But I'm also not a professional maker, and there are tons of really great whips that have BBs in them instead of wax. One of my favourite pairs of whips has BBs in it, actually! I just choose not to use them.
      Sometimes I will use the inner strings from the paracord to make whip crackers, but that's about it really. My girlfriend likes to use the string for her garden, she uses it to tie up plants and give her peas something to climb.

    I always struggle to find the right size pipe with a connector that fits it. The only ones with smooth connectors are 30mm+

    Thank you for this great tutorial! is it important that the handle is cpvc or can it be pvc?

    • @CanadaWhips
      @CanadaWhips  2 роки тому +1

      Cpvc is better because it's the right size. You would need a different size of PVC

      @@tiramis100 I’m in uk and I can’t find any pvc or cpvc the right size and connectors that fit them. Some professional whip makers have pipes, but they tell me it’s any hardware store, but I still can’t find the right size (width/diameter).

    hi there! i absolutely love the video! however i do have one question, i'm trying to get a hold of the nylon paracord, but what is the diameter you've used in the video? is it the same diameter that you would recommend to try it out whipmaking or would you recommend going smaller/larger?
    Thanks alot!

    Hi, great wideo! Do You maybe noteiced points where You drop strands? I saw 52'' only. And also, please tell me if You just fold them a half in the middle or You maybe moved "the middle" a few inches?

    • @CanadaWhips
      @CanadaWhips  4 роки тому +1

      I drop my overlay strands two at a time, so I fold them in half in the middle to make sure they drop in the same place. I don't have my notebook with me but when I get home I can let you know the approximate distances where the strands drop.

    If I were to add bbs in one of the cords, which one should I put it in, and how should I do it?

    • @iam1smiley1
      @iam1smiley1 2 місяці тому

      I filled a 26 inch cord with 23" of bb's, heated the end to close it it or use artificial sinew etter yet, I tied mine onto the line that will make up the handle tie later. I bound my whole loose cords with artificial sinew and that seemed to work well to plait easier without so much dangling stuff. I'm pretty new to this, so I'm still learning andthere might be better ways to do a loose strand core but that's what I did 😂
