- In this video, we're going to look at why the next Nissan GT-R (R36) will be delayed. The GTR has been a very successful entry level super car in the racing scene, tuning scene and mostly on social media. The Nissan Skyline GT-R has created a tremendous tuner cult, and has definitely made it to be one of the dream cars for any JDM enthusiasts.
In this video, we look at why its successor has not surfaced yet and why Nissan is having difficulties replacing the legendary R35 GTR.

Doubt it, it’s too late now, if we do it’ll be electric or a hybrid but don’t think we’ll get a R36.

Nissan already announced that the new R36 will be fully EV due to EPA regulations and should be released by 2028. 😉

@@EK-rr2md Nissan has hinted next gen of GTR’s will be EV’e, plus everyone knows that all car manufacturers will be producing non combustion engines by 2025/2026 to meet the EPA requirements.
I tell ya what buddy, I’ll get back to ya closer to 2028 and promise you two things.

Nissan developed such a great car its own creator can't even beat it. If most people could learn how to enjoy the blessed present instead of the insatiable desire of wanting more...and more, and more...
Exactly. When you go bit deeper in Skylines with GTR badge 32 33 and 34 are same cars with different body. Nothing really changed.
Then they released GTR. For me that is not R35. For me this is revival of GTR badge.
Late 80s and 90s gen we know Skyline GTR. And we all droll over it. Yet Nissan released GTR. But everyone called it R35. That tag should belong to Skyline R35 and not GTR and not this monstrosity they call Skyline.
Godzilla is RB26 and their majestic 4 wheel drive. There is reason why today. You have R34s costing twice as much as GTR.
Oh i will not even touch Neo engines in last series of Skylines....

I kinda feel they overshot with the r35 a bit, then it got (well it started as well with dealers) crazy expensive. I appreciated the hand built engine but would have preferred an overbuilt production engine that was cheaper to produce. I think going forward Nissan should talk to Ford Australia to update the 4L Barra project in closed deck aluminum fashion, spline drive oil pump or drysump, the variable valve system from the r35 and a modified 8hp70(10spds not strong enough) with AWD. Give an option for front and rear lsd and try to combine more of the r34 into the design language. Make 2 piece large iron rotors stock, preferably with 6 piston front, 4 piston rear. Direct injection with port to keep the intake from clogging but keep response from turbo high and good lower torque to cruise with decent highway mpg(like Toyota gr86). Make the dash flow together better and use a polished digital dash. Also bring out a 250z or 260z 4 cylinder s16 globally

Funny thing about this video. It mentioned Nissan is broke, yet Nissan is the most profitable and biggest manufacturer in the Nissan Renault Mitsubishi allience.

I will stick with the R35. R36 maybe faster if it ever comes out, but it will not sound as good
There should have been a hybrid version. They say there was even a prototype engine but it´s now supposed to be a fully electrified vehicle. And the GT-R platform is always made for 20 years so it could be we have to wait until 2027...
I have 2017 r35 with a stage 1 who thinks I should on to it thinking this might be over for Godzilla. For a while

My honest opinion they should mix the R34 and R35's design then still have the VR38 V6 with a new manual gearbox or a mild hybrid to be eco friendly
I think Nissan has noticed that the R34 GTR's design is a huge success. Thats why they integrated the design on the latest T spec R35 GTR face lift model. It looks nice but would you agree on Nissan's latest face lift design?
The NSX comparison was against a modified GT-R. I'll still take the NSX even if it was slower una drag race 🤷🏻♂️

I think were running out of time. Nissan knows they cant put out a bombshell like an R36 with a new big RB design. We all want it... but what were gonna get is some hybrid or EV GTR. Im my opinion, If it goes EV.... every GAS GTR on the planet just got more expensive. Not interested in another electric... thing. Its not a car. Without that euro whine in the engine... whats the point?
A new RB designed engine would be nice. But let's see what will Nissan do. Remember when nissan shifted to v6 configuration for r35 gtr and some were disappointed. But majority of the purist gtr fans got a bit of a surprise of the VR38 and how capable it is. Let's give Nissan a chance to shock as again.

The new Z is goin to fail most probably, its a 2 seater and its expensive in comparison with its competitors and that was the only reason why the 370Z failed... they're simply repeating their mistake...

Hey man I'm gen Z and trust me, there are too many farking people who worship GTR, me included. In this age of technology where money can be made easier than ever, there are way too many more young millionaires than ever before.
So, don't count us out. But as for me, I will be buying R35 this coming year.
Just buy a C8.

Course it's hard to imagine what can they do better than gtr that passed 20 years of evolution and modifications at nismo :)) make it lighter and smaller? There is other Toyota's and Nissan's, honda etc that are lighter and smaller. More powerfull - little tuned it kills Bugattis... It looks great... It's a legend everyone knows... What new they can do? Any lmp1 based new gtr is another class and cost at all, I suppose, and nissan can make it parallelly and give it a different name at all. I would buy gtr nismo 2022 even now, but I have no free money for it :))
