I think you nailed it, with you comments and review. And look forward to future previews of new generators etc. I’m definitely going propane ready for generator’s from this point forward, and I saw your mention of running some new models in series/parallel without mods. I wonder what the limitations on hooking generators together? Generator noise is my biggest issue. gas has been the source of many of my small engine problems. Propane does not degrade over time(that’s what’s documented) ? Electric start ? I’m tempted to put access to the crank bolt so I can start them with a heavy power tool ?
In 2008 I bought an open frame Champion 3500 watt generator. I purchased the floor model for $200 at Lowes. That has been the best generator I've ever owned, I don't care what brand, I've either owned them or been around them, and for a simple traditional style generator it is fairly quiet and never fails to start, even after sitting for 3 or 4 years, with fresh gas of course, I cant say enough about Champion.
I have a harbor fright 2200 inverter. It predates the preditor name. It is close to 20 years old, works flawless, and starts on the second pull after long storage.
Great reviews! Personally, I went with 2 Champion 2500-watt dual-fuel inverter generators and a parallel box. I've only used propane fuel (so far) and piped them both directly to the low-pressure side (11" w/c ) of my 250 Gallon bulk propane tank. I can run one or both as needed to power the house or recharge the battery bank on my solar system. Great little units, and very quiet.
@@shaunnightfire8269 ~ The easiest way is to use stainless flexible gas dryer piping. Tee into your low-pressure side, add male/female quick disconnects and a shut-off valve for each generator. Use the yellow pipe tape or pipe dope that's rated for gas.
I also agree that Champion offers a great combination of quality and price coupled with that all important service and parts availability. I own five generators....a 3400 Champion, 3 of the 2000Watt Champions and one Honda EU6500 for home backup. I truly wish the Trifuel 10500 Watt Genmax was available in Canada. I would then sell the Honda and buy that one so I can hook into the natural gas supply in my home AND put some money back in my pocket (the HONDA has fabulous resale value)...makes much more sense than modifying the Honda to work on natural gas.
Ive had a $300 champion since 2016 and its been a lifesaver for a few years. (Its a backup and loaner now) Ive let people hold it and it cranks every time first pull. Now its not really charging and ive overloaded it a lot its paid for itself time and time again. I will purchase another champion!

Ive had my predator 2000 for about 6 years .And i run it with a 1000 watt par light for night fishing thing is a beast always starts on the first or second pull. Mine has hundreds of hrs of running time if not close to a thousand hrs.
Really wish you would have compared same size models. Never the less, thanks for the video. It is great to hear of other experiences. I have a Honda 3k circa 2000. I love it. It ran for 10.5 days after a hurricane. I only stopped it to change oil once a day. After the storm blew away the shed, it was exposed to >100 mph wind and rain. A small gen for leisure, and not a backup like my Honda, I am considering a less expensive unit. My wishlist is
Great video. Many surprises in your Top 10 but I can't disagree with any of your choices. Those prices are CRAZY for the the Top 2!! I purchased my Yamaha EF3000iSEB on October 16, 2006 for $2,579.97 WITHOUT Dual Fuel or remote start!
Ahh that Yamaha is a Tank!! But in every sense, it may be heavy but it’s quiet and will run forever. Well most seem to. Good unit just bigger and has some weight. Thank you as well. Appreciate the feed back ..👍🏼😀👊🏼
Just bought the Pulsar 4000. Not a lot of features, but it is small, light, and just over $500. That is for dual fuel. Despite there being many "manufacturers", only a few companies make most of them. Would be nice if a list of who made what was available. I suspect other than the Honda and Yamaha that the innards aren't made by the company on the logo.
Good choice and yes many are made from a couple of the same Chinese companies. GenMax 3500, Maxpeedingrods 3500 and pulsar 4000 should all be from Dinking power
Champion, when, some pulsar some Coleman Honda Yamaha some Generac and more. Lots of small engine repair shops have accounts to repair and warranty. 3-4 with in 15 miles of me
I’m running the power horse 4500 W generator from Northern tools as it gives me a little more power than the predator for the same overall size. I have just north of 500 hours on it right now and it’s still going strong.
I have the Westinghouse iGen 4500. Runs but no power output. Going on a week and no reply from "customer service". So, took back for a replacement. Got a good deal on it. Will be selling it and getting a Champion.
Thanks for the list and great video as always. Have you ever tested the firman lineup? Specifically the Costco model? I’m currently running that one and I like it for the most part except how loud it is. Has a lot of key features but missing some. For 599 though, it’s tough to beat…
The firman brand has a couple good units and a couple that are still problematic like the 2000 watt with the low air intake under the unit. This allowed water and dust to be sucked right in. Prematurely damaging the unit. Also I hear like you said, a little louder then other comparable units. I think the best thing about the firman is Costco is carrying it. Which the return policy is one of the best. They take back dead Xmas trees apparently 😂👍🏼
THANK YOU!!! Just what I am looking for. Really good video 😊 I appreciate the work you put in to your videos they make information gathering so handy! Thanks again Johnny 👍👍
Great video John... I listened to every word... I have the Predator 3500, the Maxpeedingrods 3500 and the old Honda EU2000i.... What sucks is I live in California... You can't get most of these generators in this state....
Wow thank you. Most people just skip around and ask a ton of questions that were in the video 🤷🏼♂️ lol And I’m there with ya. I’m in far nor cal and I can’t get many generators unless certain circumstance’s so I can review them. But I want to compare a Honda eu3200i but I can’t even find one in a near by state they are sold as soon as they get them which Nevada and Oregon get very few like 3 every couple months. And they have the price at like $2800 so it’s over $3k out the door. That’s ludicrous I’m sorry. I just don’t get what they are doing. Grabbing a few sales at a high margin verses getting thousands of sales at a medium margin. But I hear ya. Have to have a friend ship ya one lol.
Awaiting arrival of a new Champion 2500 dual fuel. Will use it primarily as a charging unit for a couple of battery power supply units purchased for power out situations.
I wish I had seen this sooner, the "Maxspeeding Rods" generator is super interesting for one reason. I'm a huge gear head and that co.pany has been taking the budget automotive world by storm. It seems like everything they put their name on is gold. Turbos, connecting rods, pistons, etc. from them are cheap and work as promised. Are they as good as the big names? Of course not, but they're 90% of the performance for less than half the cost with allegedly really decent customer service. Idk how they do it.
Thanks for all your efforts. Great videos. Have you had opportunity to look at the Wen 3600 watt portable. Can’t seem to find much info on it. New model?
I've got three years of flawless heavy use out of my dual fuel EU2200i so far. Mine is a version from just before they added the bluetooth, which would have been nice. Fair comment about the price - they are not cheap - but I needed something reliable. Clearly there are some great alternatives now so if I had to buy again I might do the unthinkable and try something other than a Honda. 😮
Still undecided. Gonna check into the champion that got number one. Mainly for rv, just starting out . Used a honda 2000i but no beuno running the ac. Trying to avoid china stuff and unnecessary weight.
Well if your trying to stay with Honda the new eu3200 is nice but obviously at a premium price. Nd its only 2600 watts. The champion and both the wen in this review still get positive reviews. The 3800 listed in the links of this review I believe is on special to.
Great video! Love my 3500 Dual fuel MaxpeedingRods ( Genmax ). Used it only once so far but flawless and for me as a mobile DJ I love the small size and cost compared to a Honda is great. Keep the video's coming!
When I compared specs, seemed the pulsar 4000 was priced like 3000 models from the other companies, even comparing BF prices. The Pulsar GQ model deviated. Shinrae. A reviewer had problems with it so I went with an older model.
Hours can change greatly just from users and conditions. In harsh environments obviously it wont last as long. Under ideal conditions and proper maintenance then most seem to last about 3000-5000 max. If you need something large then maybe a diesel generator, or something larger that also doesn’t have to work as hard. You want to buy something that will run in the 30-70% range of your load needs. Idling a big generator is not good and also running at full load is also not good.
'Sup Jonny.. haha.. Was checking out what other vids you have.. I have 2 of them Honda EU2000i genny's and the parallel adapter too. 46lbs, 11amps each.. Quiet and fuel efficient..
Yea good pair when you have the companion model as well. And thanks for stopping by and checking out the collection..😂👍🏼 Feel free to comment or ask questions or leave knowledge for anyone any time. It’s a community effort 😀👍🏼
The Cummins and Westinghouse are the same unit except onan possibly has better inverter board in it. Engine is the same. I know the Westinghouse has several issues still.
Tough choice. Do you want suit case type generators ? The pulsar units or the new Maxpeeding rods are nice. The Hondas obviously are a great choice but gas only and darn near maxed with both units running. Champion 4500 is nice or the when 4500 is new but really a copy of the champion but cheaper. I would do a couple pulsar 4000 or the new Maxpeeding rods which is a new smart gen but same manufacturer. See here..amzn.to/3SO6gvb Or…super sale now ending soon..amzn.to/3SMU91B
@@johnnysweekends I would definitely prefer dual fuel suitcase generators, so the Pulsar would be my preference between the two mentioned. Just found a new 5000W Pulsar Inverter Dual Fuel PG5000BiSRCO..looks pretty neat.
@markwgundert4251 yea I have seen that and it uses a larger 191cc engine but keep in mind other gens with that output are using a 212cc like the wen and champion 4500. So it’s more of a higher reving engine. Which means fuel economy and noise could be higher. Although I have not tested it
I have a Champion dual fuel in the 4000 series, worked great the first time, after that had nothing but problems from the 30 amp plug, the 20 amps appear to work, but not immediately. Really disappointed with that purchase😢.
Our family has used Yamaha generators since our weekend cabin was built in 1986. One of which I still use to run power tools from time to time which is an early 80’s Yamaha 1200 and if the generator does not start on first pull, it’s either out of gas or gas valve not turned on. From late 90’s to now we have used both Yamaha and Honda inverters ranging from 1000w to 2200w for weekend use both summer and winter in northern Canada and while none of these generators are made to operate every weekend for approximately 50+ hours straight. The Honda’s will start to burn oil and need piston ring replacement long before the Yamaha’s of equal size. Sometimes a full year prior. Again, none of these portables are designed to run 50+ hours non-stop per week so naturally the Yamaha’s eventually burn oil as well and need rings replaced. I often wonder if small diesel units existed would they be better suited for such constant use.
Would love a small diesel but everyone manufacture says the same. It’s no longer portable because a small unit is heavy and then they are also much more expensive. And more maintenance.
I think companies are hesitant to put remote on dual fuel thinking people will remotely shut off engine and leave the propane on which would be dangerous
Ahhh the big are nice but gotta have both. If you only need a little power for a long time it’s much more fuel efficient. Plus much more portable. One big,one small 👍🏼
Hi JW, Is it right to say Genmax is the ‘ Parent ‘ company, and MXR and a couple of others spring from it? The 145cc engine seems to be common across two or three different brands. I guess Dinking and Goyou build them, and Genmax seems to be the ‘ retail ‘ outlet. Any thoughts on this? They seem to have nailed it with this 145cc engine/3kw class.
Yes there are a few manufacturers that supply most of the off brands we see. Genmax being one of them which is Dinking power. They have made generators for years and came out with the Genmax line. Gouyo tech I’m not sure about because there are several. So tough to keep track. But there are some that are better than others. And yea so far I think they nailed this 145cc engine. So far it seems to be doing well.
I'm going to buy a new Champion 4650. I found an older model without a CO sensor at a local store, however I can save $130 by buying a newer model that has the CO sensor. I'm not a fan of the CO sensors, having disabled them on my Hondas, and I'm sure I can do the same with this Champion. I'm thinking I should suck it up and spend the extra money on the one unencumbered by the CO sensor hardware. I'd like to know which one you'd buy...thank you.
I dont prefer them either myself as I know, hey …run the generator far enough away from a home or RV. Plus I have those inside my home and RV. And yea more and more people are finding way to bypass them. Another reason im moving more and more to propane as the CO is way less than gasoline.
Have you done a review of the champion 2500? I dont seem to see one other then the mention in this video. Mainly wondering how quiet it is as im hearing mixed reviews. Thanks
I haven’t on that specific but most all are so close in that range because they all use a Yamaha mz80 clone engine and the muffler is really the only difference. And when it’s middle to upper loads it will be a little louder but you need to buy the right gen for your use. And it’s only 1800 running but that’s only once in a while.
@user-pg8js8un8j the Honda will always be the quietest but the little champion does a good job on the low loads to mid lows then around the middle you’ll notice it but it’s not harsh. Around 75% is when you know it’s louder than the Hondas but it also depends where it is and how far. Lots of variables
Thanks for your answer. One of the reasons why I asked is that there are very few service locations in my area according to WEN support. So I'm guessing that since the engines are the same, maybe that would allow more service locations to work on it for me. What do you think?
Great video! Thanks for sharing. Any brand beside Honda you would suggest for Burning Man? With the dusty/harsh environment (and no gas stations nearby) I can’t determine the best choice. Will likely only be used once or twice a year, doesn’t make sense to buy a Honda.
Well depends how much power you need. And only once or twice a year… again that little Aipower is not a bad unit for a cheap price or the little champion. But once you get it out of the box fire it up and make sure it runs. Change the oil in the first 30-60mins and always run a fuel conditioner and you won’t have any problems. But definitely drain the carb if letting it sit for several months.. Aipower amzn.to/3KNyQKA Fuel treatment amzn.to/3Gt1xts
@@johnnysweekends it’s looking like I’ll need @ 4000 watts, preferably larger so it’s not overworked. Maintenance is definitely key-I have a 5000 watt from the 90’s still works. Very loudly still works… I’m pretty much at sea level , the black rock dessert is some 3800ft, would you know if I’ll need to rejet the carb for whatever I end up with? Thanks for the advice!
You are right at that area to were a rejet would be helpful but not necessary. I would go with a 5500 or 6000 watt if running 4000 watts for several hours.
Very fine review of your top 10! I purchased the ALP propane model, in part because of it’s low weight and no gas possible. However, your review of models with excellent wheels and dual and even tri fuel options are compelling. There is just no perfect time to buy!
I wouldn’t mind testing the Alp and checking it out. Maybe I’ll contact them and see if they are interested. Nice little unit just not a lot of power but great for recharging batteries and such. Plus it is small. Idk maybe they will contact me. Maybe not. But glad you liked the video and thanks for watching 😀👍🏼
Thank you. I like and don’t like that unit as it would be a good stationary unit but there is no way to move it easy and it’s heavy. So a wheel or trolley kit would be needed. That may be one of the best units with there name on it. Since generac doesn’t actually make it. Although overly expensive unless on sale
Inverter, dual fuel AND remote start is very hard to find. I want to power our off/grid home using bulk, once a year fill tank and start and stop without going outdoors. The SUA3800iED seemed to fit this bill. But it had a number of problems. First, right out of the box it wouldn't start on LP. Turned out to be a defective spark plug and the integral resistor that's cast in the porcelain. Replaced with a NGK brand. Then after a short while running solidly on LP it suddenly stopped one night. Appears that they had used an intermittent rated main LP shutoff valve. The electric solenoid coil completely fried into a full short circuit and even blew the main battery fuse. Replaced the fuse and disconnected the valve to run on gasoline only. That only lasted a few days and fuel started running out of the air filter box from the carburetor. That was probably a carburetor "sinking float" problem. So back to Costco it went for a refund. I'm just playing the waiting game to see if the deficiencies have been resolved in the next shipment. I like the overall design if it weren't for the flaws.
Yea I noticed that unit and I bet it is a rebranded unit since it uses the same 212cc engine as the champion. Same box frame and more. Only different is the display. So more than likely same unit.
I mentioned who made them in a couple videos and I think rato was one of them but they switched at some point. Or they switched to the rato 🤔 I forget now lol.
What up Doe!? Great video, very good top ten list. I vote the Wen 3800 as my midsize Gen top choice. It was cool chatting on the Livestream yesterday, enjoy your...
Any decent review of generators would include comparing the engine displacement and the rated output power. Some of these are very optimistic on their rated power, given that they are saving money and skipping by putting crappy little small engines inside the box.
@@timellis3336 First step in deciding which generator you need is to add up all the watts of the devices you want to run. Check the manufacturer nameplates. If only amps and volts are listed, multiply them together to get watts. My fridge is 310 watts. My window ac is 900 watts. Total is 1210 watts. Add 20% as a cushion (multiply by 1.2) and I get 1452 watts. So no less than 1500-2000 running watts is what I need.
Champion customer service is bad. Over 1.5hr waiting to speak a rep. They did not replace a bad carb on my new 4000w, but was quick to try a sell me one! Predator/HF customer service wins!
When was this you tried to get ahold of them? Also what model? Also good to have feed back as normally they do pretty well. And carb are cheap like $38 👍🏼
Depends what you need to run and where you live In a city quiet is nice. In the country open frame is better and cheaper Calculate how many things you wanna run when the power is off… A few minor things…small Gen Large things and 220v items like well pump or Ac units … large generator
They make a lot of units all the Genmax is there line. They make a lot of the pulsar units and some DuroMax as well. They build lots of generators for customers I guess. Been around since 2012 like I mentioned in the video when I went to vegas
⛔️ Champion service reps are sometimes hard to understand. But, mostly it takes 20 - 60 minutes for them to answer the phone. Leaving your number for a call-back is a good option ⚠️
Thanks for the feedback. I think many companies are still suffering from shortages, so I try to give a little grace with some things. It seems like with any company 45mins is the average wait time.
I just bought a Champion 4500 series. I had a question or two on it. I contacted customer service thru email, got a clear and understandable answer next day.
Had 2 of the predator 2000 generators, both junk. First one was hard to start and second one never did start. Returned both and bought the predator 4000. So far been good, we'll see. Never will buy another predator 2000 again!
Interesting the little predators have had a lot of positive feedback. But i do know the changed the predator 3500 from the original and i think they may have on the new 2000 as well.
@@johnnysweekends I had heard great things about them but recently I stumbled across info saying they changed the jetting in the carburetors in compliance with California emissions regulations. The second one we had we pulled out of the box, put oil in it and gassed it up exactly how the owners manual stated and it putted a couple times like it wanted to start but wouldn’t. Tried several things to make sure it wasn’t flooded and nothing. I won’t own another one

Depends on the unit. If the load regulator is on the supplied propane hose then yes. If it’s inside the ten then no Either way you have to buy a NG kit for around $275
I dont like the 2000 it had issues and the rest like the smaller 3000 and a larger unit have been back and forth. But I hear they have been doing better. One thing is Costco carry’s them so returns are easier. But any return on a gen unit can be tough sometimes.
It’s a great unit so far and I have recommended many. It’s the same as several others in a way. But this video is also a little old and those units were newer and not proven.
@@johnnysweekends we're regarding the pulsar do you know if whether or not it is noisier than the champion 2500v or champion 4000? or westinghouse? noise is my biggest concern. thanks!!
@movingtorichmondva I have not tested champion 4000 to others yet but on the list. Nothing will beat the Honda in the low mid range but the pulsar and maxpeedingrods rods do better at 1800 watts. But they have bigger engines and more power so more noise. Im working on another quietest video but will be a couple months.
At first it was too expensive for what it was, plus no wheels, no dual fuel, no remote option as well. Quiet yes, heavy yes. But the price has dropped a lot. Hence better options
You’re talking one unit out of thousands. I can show you a $80k truck that died in 3000 miles yet people still buy them with great success. Same with several gen sets.
@@johnnysweekends The guy tested maybe 5 generators, had the oil analyzed after to look for metal. Honda having the largest engine fared better in performance mainly for that reason. All were new off the shelf. . Westinghouse: own one of those. so far so good. The sportsman 100 is a gem for $150. a gas sipper!.
@skblack5050 yea that’s Todd at project farm. Although I have several people that follow me and a few are preppers in Alaska who switched from Honda to the predators because they started better in colder weather and if they broke they just bought a new one verses waiting and ordering parts and then fixing it. Which was to much down time. Then the broken unit would be used for spare parts. They said most go over 3000 hours with a few going over 5000 hours on those little 80cc engines. Which if a Honda normally is doing the same then why are you paying more? I have several comments from many people who have thousands of hours on off brand units. I think they have definitely gotten better than from 5-10 years ago. And Honda maybe starting to get cheaper since more are now being made away from Japan But there are options for everyone
My eu3200 is going for sale soon. There are already several for sale around me either new or slightly used for 1800-2300. None have sold. So this Honda unit will definitely not be holding its value like the eu2200i
@@johnnysweekends Hours: 96, oil is changed every 100 hours and Yes it is True. The Onan does have a better inverter, UA-camr Gavin’s Garage performed a side by side Test on the Onan and Westinghouse and the Onan carried more Amps and Longer than the Westinghouse!
Yea not many hours. Yea I did see the video but I wonder how many times he performed the test. If I have like units and I find one perform much better then the other I may repeat the test 3-4 times to make sure it truly is better or maybe the load type changed the way it would hold a load and then shut down. Resistive loads and inductive loads will react a little differently
It’s because prices change to much. Sometimes every month it can go up and down a lot. Had enough people say the price is a $100 higher then stated. I can’t control supply and demand or sales so kinda stopped adding prices 🤷🏼♂️
It depends on model but the firman is still newer and being the intake on the small 2000 is directly on the bottom several failed prematurely from water and excessive dust intrusion. Maybe the newer models have changed

For me, the best one is the one that has the best customer service so you can get your unit repaired when it has problems.
I think that’s a good unit, basically the same. But I think there are more HF stores making it easier to buy.
Smart choice. I would buy the powerhorse over the predator. More power and features.
I thought I would get better responses from the videos I did because I would buy the powerhorse as well but people still bought the predator
@@johnnysweekends 🤣 I’m not surprised. I’m pretty sure Northern Tool has a solid warranty as well.
From what I have read there warranty seems good as well. To bad no stores farther south. But of course it’s northern tool 🤔😂👍🏼
Well John... based on your reviews... I bought the Champion 4650 Dual fuel...
Ohh nice choice !
I have the Wen DF451i 4500W electric start dual fuel. Have about 15 hours on it. It’s been great so far.
Excellent choice!! I’ll be doing a review and comparison soon on this unit and two others! 😀
Let us know after it's broken in lol
I have the Westinghouse iGen 4500. Runs but no power output. Going on a week and no reply from "customer service". So, took back for a replacement. Got a good deal on it. Will be selling it and getting a Champion.
I have been telling people do not buy it and they still do. It’s junk, still complaints today
Really good video 😊
I appreciate the work you put in to your videos they make information gathering so handy!
Thanks again Johnny 👍👍
No problem glad this helped you out…😀👍🏼
Great video John... I listened to every word... I have the Predator 3500, the Maxpeedingrods 3500 and the old Honda EU2000i.... What sucks is I live in California... You can't get most of these generators in this state....
Wow thank you. Most people just skip around and ask a ton of questions that were in the video 🤷🏼♂️ lol
And I’m there with ya.
I can and I live in California.🤷♂
Not if you buy on Amazon, Walmart works or some of the box stores
Drive to Reno. 🎉 It's 3.5hrs and you can escape the communist grasp.
Awaiting arrival of a new Champion 2500 dual fuel. Will use it primarily as a charging unit for a couple of battery power supply units purchased for power out situations.
It will do great for that…👍🏼
I wish I had seen this sooner, the "Maxspeeding Rods" generator is super interesting for one reason.
Most of the response I get is still positive for those. A couple had problems but so far so good. 😀👍🏼
Thank you for all the reviews. You have been the thorough and understanding for this old teacher. Haha Just need to decide on a dual fuel.
Thanks for all your efforts. Great videos. Have you had opportunity to look at the Wen 3600 watt portable. Can’t seem to find much info on it. New model?
Hello and thanks. I have not had a chance to look at that yet, and yes new model as I literally saw it just a few days ago.
Awesome list! Great to see Champion as the champion!
🤫 😂👍🏼 it’s a great unit. Sometimes hard to find though
Thank you for a thorough and informative review!
Honda is still a champion, we need a reliable one😀
😂👍🏼
I've got three years of flawless heavy use out of my dual fuel EU2200i so far. Mine is a version from just before they added the bluetooth, which would have been nice. Fair comment about the price - they are not cheap - but I needed something reliable. Clearly there are some great alternatives now so if I had to buy again I might do the unthinkable and try something other than a Honda. 😮
😲 nooo! Lol .
Honda is still great but I think they slipped a little. And again a factory dual fuel model would have been a really nice unit.
An absolute must have!
Yeah you'd need min 3000w to run an ac.
Great video! That said, how about a top 10, or top 5 diesel generator video(?)
I’ve been looking into them but hard to find compact units. And they are spendy. Lol. But I’m still looking 👍🏼
Westinghouse igen4500df is awesome can't go wrong and better than Honda.
Great video! Love my 3500 Dual fuel MaxpeedingRods ( Genmax ). Used it only once so far but flawless and for me as a mobile DJ I love the small size and cost compared to a Honda is great. Keep the video's coming!
Thank you appreciate it. Make sure to keep the battery charged if you don’t use it often 👍🏼
When I compared specs, seemed the pulsar 4000 was priced like 3000 models from the other companies, even comparing BF prices. The Pulsar GQ model deviated. Shinrae. A reviewer had problems with it so I went with an older model.
Best 240V quiet dual fuel inverter in the 4-7kw-ish range?
Is the Champion 4500 suitable for longterm use or just occasional use only. How many lifetime hours is it rated for?
And thanks for stopping by and checking out the collection..😂👍🏼
Feel free to comment or ask questions or leave knowledge for anyone any time.
It’s a community effort 😀👍🏼
Great video, curious on your thoughts about the Cummings Onan 4500??
The Cummins and Westinghouse are the same unit except onan possibly has better inverter board in it. Engine is the same.
I know the Westinghouse has several issues still.
Which would you choose to parallel to an RV with two 15k AC units without soft start?
Tough choice. Do you want suit case type generators ? The pulsar units or the new Maxpeeding rods are nice.
The Hondas obviously are a great choice but gas only and darn near maxed with both units running.
Champion 4500 is nice or the when 4500 is new but really a copy of the champion but cheaper.
I would do a couple pulsar 4000 or the new Maxpeeding rods which is a new smart gen but same manufacturer.
See here..amzn.to/3SO6gvb
Or…super sale now ending soon..amzn.to/3SMU91B
Did your take it back? Did you call champion ? Did you test it immediately after purchase? Just trying to gather data. What model?
Great review! I'm sticking with my 2018 Honda EU2200I. 😊
That champion remote start is just the fuel model I wished they had that model duel fuel with the remote start I would buy it in a heartbeat
I think companies are hesitant to put remote on dual fuel thinking people will remotely shut off engine and leave the propane on which would be dangerous
@gone4days956 no different than a bbq, which most turn off the burners and leave tank valve open, same as a RV, tanks open but regulators stop flow.
very good review. Thanks now to find the right one I need to power certain things
Thank you!! Great informative Video that Really helped me! I've looked at so many different inverters until I was just Confused! Lol
Glad I could help 😀👍🏼
Are these being used while driving down the road? Mounted in a motorhome underbody?
I have seen people strap them to a storage rack on the back but not in a storage compartment.
These are all cute generators, I'm all about the big ones 10k and over!
Ahhh the big are nice but gotta have both. If you only need a little power for a long time it’s much more fuel efficient. Plus much more portable. One big,one small 👍🏼
Hi JW,
Is it right to say Genmax is the ‘ Parent ‘ company, and MXR and a couple of others spring from it?
Great video and review. I am a 1st time viewer of your channel.
Awesome , welcome!! And thank you 😀👍🏼👊🏼
Question: Can you use the propane quick connect on our camper (used for grill) to connect to the Champion generator (or others).
Yes that’s how I run mine..!! 👍🏼😀
Thanks for the info! So pretty comparable to the honda 2200 and others for noise with small loads then?
@user-pg8js8un8j the Honda will always be the quietest but the little champion does a good job on the low loads to mid lows then around the middle you’ll notice it but it’s not harsh.
Around 75% is when you know it’s louder than the Hondas but it also depends where it is and how far. Lots of variables
Thanks for the reply, much appreciated
Who makes the engine for the Champion and Wen generators that you reviewed? Thanks
Wen and champion now share the same rato 212cc engine …😀👍🏼
Thanks for your answer. One of the reasons why I asked is that there are very few service locations in my area according to WEN support. So I'm guessing that since the engines are the same, maybe that would allow more service locations to work on it for me. What do you think?
@dukemanvillle yes. And most the units that use a 212cc engine share a lot of the same parts and can be found on eBay and more.
Looks like i could pickup the number one pick now at tractor supply store.
Yes tractor supply is a great place to grab one. But don’t always have the best sales but can grab the return warranty though 👍🏼
Mine came in at #4. Thanks for the review...........
Nice 😀👍🏼
And thank you !! 👊🏼
Aipower amzn.to/3KNyQKA
Fuel treatment amzn.to/3Gt1xts
@@johnnysweekends it’s looking like I’ll need @ 4000 watts, preferably larger so it’s not overworked. Maintenance is definitely key-I have a 5000 watt from the 90’s still works. Very loudly still works…
I’m pretty much at sea level , the black rock dessert is some 3800ft, would you know if I’ll need to rejet the carb for whatever I end up with?
Good videos, but you need to test the Generac IQ3500 is so quite and smooth
Yes need to move up to a larger unit like some of the Genmax 6000 or 7250
Or the Genmax 3500
WEN has a 4500 model now.
Bought one a month ago.
Yea I noticed that unit and I bet it is a rebranded unit since it uses the same 212cc engine as the champion.
Same box frame and more. Only different is the display.
So more than likely same unit.
I believe so. The champion, wen, and predator have shared the same engine for years.
Don't know who makes what.
I mentioned who made them in a couple videos and I think rato was one of them but they switched at some point. Or they switched to the rato 🤔 I forget now lol.
The best generator is one that starts when you need it.
What up Doe!?
Great video, very good top ten list. I vote the Wen 3800 as my midsize Gen top choice.
It was cool chatting on the Livestream yesterday, enjoy your...
Hey Campbell soup, yes nice to see ya in there and yes the wen still gets many positive comments and reviews.

@@johnnysweekends YES SIR!
The DuroMax XP2300iH Dual Fuel Digital Inverter Hybrid Portable Generator has a 80cc Engine delivering a peak of 2300 surge watts / 1800 Constant.
Yamaha 2200 garbage, I had 2, same problem. I had a honda 2000 for 12 years, no problem.
So if I wanted to power a freeze dryer or instant pot or something like that that needs to run consistently would a regular generator be a bad idea?
Nope regular gens work to they are just a little louder and sometimes not cleaner energy output but cheaper and easier to work on
Great video! That said, how about a top 10, or top 5 diesel gen video(?)
Nothing to say BUT ; Great Job Brother... thky dan t. palm springs calif USA
Awesome, thanks Daniel appreciate it.
Palm Springs is nice, a little humid sometimes but nice 😁👍🏼
I buy the champion 4650 👍yesterday 🙂
Good choice 👍🏼
Any decent review of generators would include comparing the engine displacement and the rated output power. Some of these are very optimistic on their rated power, given that they are saving money and skipping by putting crappy little small engines inside the box.
You can check out many of my other videos for more detailed info
I don't know anything about generators but I wanted to run my AC unit and a mini fridge... what should I get?
@@timellis3336 First step in deciding which generator you need is to add up all the watts of the devices you want to run. Check the manufacturer nameplates. If only amps and volts are listed, multiply them together to get watts.
My fridge is 310 watts. My window ac is 900 watts. Total is 1210 watts. Add 20% as a cushion (multiply by 1.2) and I get 1452 watts. So no less than 1500-2000 running watts is what I need.
Wen for the win for me !
Excellent choice !!
People who know trust the big three Honda, Yamaha and Champion.
Love my Champion 4500 with remote start!
Such a good unit..
How many hours..?
Champion customer service is bad. Over 1.5hr waiting to speak a rep. They did not replace a bad carb on my new 4000w, but was quick to try a sell me one! Predator/HF customer service wins!

Hello which one is best for homes
Depends what you need to run and where you live
In a city quiet is nice. In the country open frame is better and cheaper
Calculate how many things you wanna run when the power is off…
A few minor things…small Gen
Large things and 220v items like well pump or Ac units … large generator
During a storm ..
Have you tested the Pulsar Products GD400BN, 4,000watt dual fuel inverter generator? I'm very interested in this generator.
I have not. But several pulsar units are made from Genmax. If it says dinking power then it’s a Genmax unit.
But I don’t know on this specific model.
@@johnnysweekends dinking power? Have not heard that term.
They make a lot of units all the Genmax is there line. They make a lot of the pulsar units and some DuroMax as well. They build lots of generators for customers I guess. Been around since 2012 like I mentioned in the video when I went to vegas
Just got a 3500 genmax iaed hope it's holds up.

@delMajor_123 thanks for the feedback 👍🏼

Will the dual units work with natural gas ?
Depends on the unit. If the load regulator is on the supplied propane hose then yes. If it’s inside the ten then no
Either way you have to buy a NG kit for around $275
Thanks for sharing your knowledge
I dont see trusting something with furl injection (efi) for a emergency/lifesaving situation.
I believe carburetor is the way to go.
I really like the stuff genmax is doing but I need to see long-term video reviews!
Great video!! Lots of great info🤩

Any news on the Genmax fuel pump?
They said soon… So keep checking back 👍🏼😀
Where does the firman line of generators fit in?
I dont like the 2000 it had issues and the rest like the smaller 3000 and a larger unit have been back and forth. But I hear they have been doing better. One thing is Costco carry’s them so returns are easier. But any return on a gen unit can be tough sometimes.
I'm wondering why you did not include the pulsar 4000 W generator. I read that it is very quiet, dual fuel and RV ready
Surprised you did not mention Pulsar generators.
We need a 2024 version!
Need more data!!
Is Simpson2200 watt inverter generator a good choice?
Never heard of Simpson brand
What about generac iq3500 ??? Must be # 1 or 2
At first it was too expensive for what it was, plus no wheels, no dual fuel, no remote option as well. Quiet yes, heavy yes. But the price has dropped a lot. Hence better options
Just watched a Predator compared to others and The plug was carbon-ed up plus Iron in the oil after 100 hours.
And Honda maybe starting to get cheaper since more are now being made away from Japan
But there are options for everyone
@@johnnysweekends I'll agree. Honda is priced it's self out of the market. .

I have no actual proof but it was rumored the onan 4500 had a better inverter in it. 🤷🏼♂️
Great video..However the price wasn't included for all..
It’s because prices change to much. Sometimes every month it can go up and down a lot.
Had enough people say the price is a $100 higher then stated.
I can’t control supply and demand or sales so kinda stopped adding prices 🤷🏼♂️
@johnnysweekends or ok ok..understood..thanks for the reply.. 🍻
Firman should have made the list if Ai power made it
It depends on model but the firman is still newer and being the intake on the small 2000 is directly on the bottom several failed prematurely from water and excessive dust intrusion.
Maybe the newer models have changed
Honda generators and vehicles have been on the downhill slide for a while now.
Agree trying to sell the name.
