For sure, he could contribute great songs using his 7 strings guitar and his ability as a songwriter. In fact Dave Mustaine invited him to join Megadeth but he fefused the offer to work on his solo records. And he recommended Chris Broderick (former guitarist of Nevermore)
@@GuitarArchives I knew he auditioned, that's why I made the comment. I thought mustaine turned him down because he was a little to young at the time. Needed a little more expierence. Loomis also said he mentioned the audition to Marty Friedman and maybe that's why Marty audituoned... if I remember correctly. Either way, Loomis is a killer technical shredder and I would really enjoy hearing him with megadeth. I've studied most great guitarists but I haven't learned much of Loomis.
@@CMM5300 yes it's true that he made audition, I just didn't know the exact year, and I forgot where did I read that Mustaine invited him as the lead guitarist in 2008, after he made his album "Zero Order Phase"
@@GuitarArchives I read it too, it was stated on his Extreme Lead Guitar Booklet, in 2005 he took his break and then he started recording a solo album. In 2008 he made the album Zero Order Phase, and released on Sept.30 via Century Media Records. And that was the time that Mustaine invited him to join as the lead guitarist, but Jeff declined the offer. However, he recommended former guitarist Chris Broderick for the position, and b'coz of Loomis' recommendation Broderick got the job.
THANK YOU!! Been looking for this video for a long time...watched it a few years ago. @03:56 I think the second '18' on the first string in the last section's tab should be '19'
Not only is the tab INCREDIBLY wrong (there aren't even enough notes to fill the bars in more than a few places), but he isn't playing the solo the same as on the album. He isn't even playing the solo the same slow vs fast in this video (watch the really fast legato bar to see this). This is possibly the worst lesson I have ever seen and you are better off learning it by ear from the song slowed to a manageable speed. I can't believe RockHouse sold this video on DVD for actual money. (Not trying to shit on Jeff, he is amazing. Just the poor quality that this company did)
Holy shit, almost lost my nerves with this one. The tab is wrong and he plays it different compared to the album. These kinds of videos should be illegal.
I would really like Loomis in peace. It would be interesting to hear what he would of done with megadeth
