If anyone is having difficulty doing this flooring technique on a PS4 (or the reroofing technique from the previous video), a viewer named Brett Mack identified that it could be because of the STS mod you may have installed ("Scrap that Settlement"). Try uninstalling that temporarily or any other terrain modification mods while you do these techniques and see if that helps.

I took a break from FC 6 after playing 90 hours and played a bit of Fallout 4 last night. I have been wanting to redo my Sanctuary settlement. I remember watching your video on how you did that roof. I tried to make on a different house and I spent at least a couple of hours trying to get it just right in a way. The positioning anyway. It's the house that has cellar door with the tree goings up the house so you can get stuff from the duffel bag. Yeah that house. No I have to try this for the flooring. I love that same floor boards as you do. They look cleaner. Idk. I realized about a couple of weeks ago that settlers need to have their bed under something to have more happiness. I watched another video of someone else who I think is also popular...don't worry I love your videos. So this guy was testing all of the beds and they all are the same results for the happiness of the settlement. He did say mention about the beds having to be under something and not just out in the open. The reason I'm bringing this up is that I tried to have a roof over that house but ended up having to use floors. Now I'm wondering if there's a difference if there's a roof or flooring above them. If anyone knows, would you please let me know. I'll probably redo the roofing on that house anyway as it looks okay but can look a lot better. I was actually surprised I remembered how to do some of the building of using the I think barn walls that have angles. The same ones you used in your video for the roof above the same house in this video. I think I should watch moreover of your videos and get ideas. I was so excited I was able to pillar glitch a terminal in a unique area that makes it look more realistic. It was in a settlement just south of Sanctuary Hills. I believe it's called sunshine trading something something. Lol I really can't remember but I think you'll know where once I mention a few things. In the middle of the settlement is a barn that has a computer on a desk. There's houses scattered around the settlement. I thought it was a great idea to pillar glitch a terminal in the that desk next to other terminal. It worked out perfectly. I wouldn't have been able to do that without knowing some of your tricks. It may be something so small but boy was I really excited to do something pretty cool imo. That settlement is a bit more difficult to plan out since the ground is all uneven. I was able to get power to all the houses using the trick you've mentioned. I did the same thing on Spectacle island like in one of your videos. So planning where to put power conduits so you won't see the wires on the ground can be quite challenging in some cases but so worth the extra work. The other thing I've noticed if I put floors above an uneven ground and put like stores on those floors, the settlers will be under the floor when fast traveling. So annoying but I'm putting foundations in places like that as I go to settlements and noticed that. That is another reason why I wanted to redo Sanctuary. I had everything basically in the middle above the main house that they keep hammering at. It looked great but eventually the settlers would end up on the side of the house just standing there. It was just too congested. Most of my turrets where in the middle also so yeah sometimes the game would crash when I go to defend Sanctuary Hills. I apologize for this long comment. I did have to mention a few things that your videos have helped me out tremendously. I'd go to settlements I haven't been to in a long time and I just shake my head as the I see the way I first threw things together. One more thing. I swear someone is messing with me at Sanctuary Hills. Some of the homes will have newer items in them that I swear I cleared them out. I double checked before and then it happened again. Now I know what I put in the houses after scrapping everything besides the house you start in. I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do with that house as it has the crib..the box for codsworth. I don't want to remove those and it'll probably take me a bit to figure out what I'll do with that home. It's some of the other homes though. So question...do settlers move certain items like furniture into homes in Sanctuary Hills? If not, then I'm tripping. It's items that can be moved..not items that can't only be scrapped. I figure I'd ask that because seriously it's kind of freaking me out. I haven't seen it much now since I've been adding power to the houses. This was when I had everything in the middle and above the main house. I also noticed that Sturges would hang out at a house that has a patio table. There's some flamingos right by it. That house was mainly having things I'd see moved in that I swear I took out. At the time there wasn't even a bed in the house. Since I put a bed in there, I haven't noticed much of items being put in there. Before that, I swear someone has been adding items to that house. Again thank you for your very useful awesome videos!
Awesome videos, I just found your channel about 40 minutes ago. I love your videos so far. I don't play fallout anymore but I still love watching streams and videos of it. Thanks for the vid :)
My issue is when moving something in like you did with the floor, when I try to reselect it, the game group selects the other stuff close, like the roof. Great stuff you put out dude! Keep up the great work
There must be something from the workshop connecting the floor to the roof. Otherwise, it shouldn't do that. See here: ua-cam.com/video/eO9Rgbg91os/v-deo.htmlm56s
I tried following along but no matter where I try and put the floor, it's just red. I deleted everything in and around the house and it's still red :( *edit* I worked it out, I had to delete the roof and do the floor first and it works. Thanks heaps
Wish I saw this video before I started my new sanctuary build. But I figured it out after watching several other skooled zone vids Edit: didn't use a glitch though. I do have a sanctuary clean up mod on my ps4 though to get rid of the clutter. I just lined up a concrete foundation, took an hour to get it squared to the house, building and storing but I got it
I thought the same. This videos are high quality and it is a shame that you don't get more credit because the playerbase is shrinking. but it is great for us that you are still committed :-)
Hey great job with your building and love the channel! Gotta give you credit cuz I’ve tried this flooring method time and time again at different settlements and can never get it quite right lol
I have been able to duplicate almost all the glitches and tips you've given us, but I am doing something wrong when it comes to reflooring and re roofing the Sanctuary homes. Scrapped everything but the collision just won't quit... I've used the carpet, and pillar glitch. Wonder what I'm doing wrong. No mods. Also so glad you're still making F4 videos!
The thing is about sanctuary when doing either floors/walls/roofs it very often triggers my OCD and i just HATE stuff sticking out on the ends.. especially when putting in the floor which you mentioned the gaps by the windows.. either that or having bloody floor sticking out of the front or the back. But thats just me tho :D
Mental Midget: I hear what you're saying. As far as the floor sticking out on the sides of the house goes, you might add the half floor to that bit and extend the "porch" around the sides. More room for relaxing after a long, hard day of killing psycho raiders and death claws. Just a thought. :)
Seriously good content man, wish I knew of these when I was on console! Luckily, place in red mod doesn't account for everything, so I still use your tricks often :)
Your channel is awesome. I just repaired a floor and a roof in sanctuary. Can you repair the walls next? All guides I found repair walls and roof or roof and floor. I used paintings to close holes but thats an ugly solution.
I'm curious how low the floor would have been if you had attached it to the posts outside, and if the floor would have attached through and gone inside the house. Either way i think the porch would have been a bit lower and could look pretty nice. Love your videos!! Thank you so much for the time and effort!!
for anyone who wants to use sanctuary as a fully functioning settlement with settlers: *DO NOT REFLOOR SANCTUARY* (or actually any settlement)! the problem is that the settlers try to walk on the new floor as if there weren't any walls - because that's the way bethesda intended to use those floors. reflooring sanctuary completely messes up the pathfinding of the settlers and they will constantly walk against walls and don't find the doorways anymore. only refloor settlements, that you use as player homes with noone else (including companions) around.
It seems to work now,if you put steps in and use small fence panels to block bits you don't want them to fall off/wonder into, like if you were making an upstairs 👍
Paul. Paulmeister. Paulorama. Paul. 😂😂😂 Great video, as always. Rebuilding the Commonwealth 1 building, then 1 settlement, at a time. Got roofs & floors. Just need those tricky walls. Can't wait to find out what to do with irregular shaped places like really ruined ones that have been broken up pretty bad & aren't even rectangular anymore (OK, we all know I mean Coastal Cottage). But, also just fixing walls within rooms, not just outside walls. More like a bent up wall like at Croup Manor or 1 of the Far Harbor settlements (maybe Echo Lake Lumber?). I know the advanced classes are getting underway & it's exciting, man! My mom has been watching a few videos with me, as she digs the settlement building aspect of FO4. Recently, replayed your vault 42 (totally get the reference, Yay!) video. We were astounded by all you accomplished there. I even saw a decorative piece or two that I didn't recognize. I remember 1 was a tall VIM bottle, maybe equivalent to about 2-3 feet high to a character. I don't remember finding that. And I really gotta learn how to put items neatly on shelves or, like, in the Eat-o-tronic thingamabob. Or getting the Grasshopper to remain in a display case, as I'd always heard it would or could glitch & be forever lost from the game. So many cool details to cover. I have realized that, because of my awkwardness regarding anything mechanical, I tend to not be able to visualize ahead, what something glitched together might look like in 3D form, & it kinda stifles my creativity. What I need to do is some mad scientist-like experiments. 😅 The concept is new to me. I guess I knew about basic structure glitching to a point, like the fixing floors and roofs, but it didn't really sink in that items like trade stores & decorative elements could be glitched together to form something new. It opens up a whole world. Thank you for showing us the way. It would be awesome if I could build an in game statue representation of you, as "Paul, a building deity." 😆 Like, if they had some engineer's statue, besides the baseball guy. This one would have a tool belt and construction accoutrements. Later today, I gotta catch up on the recent Saturday Skyrim playthrough video. Catch ya on the next video. 👋
Thanks for the comment, Lora. Yeah, the giant VIM bottle was found here: ua-cam.com/video/qZQm0p5TgOM/v-deo.htmlm1s. Also, I may have come up with a trick to prevent items from falling through display cases. Stay tuned!
I tend to use concrete walls to replace and accent my interior walls. I'll have to take a screenshot when I get a chance. They really do end up looking nice, and they usually snap pretty well, even when you're glitching through walls, etc.
Liked and re-subscribed, was unsubscibed somehow? I love skooled zone. Re-roofed using your tricks and tips today. Still works! Love the Fall-Out and even better with your tips and tricks. Thank you
I know this is four years old, but I followed everything and I emptied a house to start fresh. Completed the roofing, and it’s great, but I can’t get the reflooring to cooperate on the first house off the bridge without shrinking the flooring down to only half the floors. The flooring won’t turn blue unless it’s under the actual foundation. I think it’s sloped and the lamp I can’t move?
Btw I just realized that I wasn't even subscribed to your channel after all this time. My bad. I'm now subscribe and turned notifications on.
I know this is really late but I love your videos! I just got fallout 4 actually but i’ve been watching all your vids and you’re so professional!
Hey thanks so much! 😀
Awesome videos, I just found your channel about 40 minutes ago. I love your videos so far. I don't play fallout anymore but I still love watching streams and videos of it. Thanks for the vid :)
LetsGameWithShane: Welcome to the Skooled Zone community. 😃
You're awesome, dude!!! Awesome advice mixed with a fun personality.
Awesome. All I ever wanted to do was rebuild those houses! Even though I'm done with Fallout 4... so boring compared to the others.... but...thanks!
First video ive watched and the wall of fame idea is refreshing and brought back my faith in humanity. Definitely subbing
Haha, thanks Callum. Welcome aboard!
I tried following along but no matter where I try and put the floor, it's just red. I deleted everything in and around the house and it's still red :(
*edit* I worked it out, I had to delete the roof and do the floor first and it works. Thanks heaps
I’m having this issue too and i haven’t got a roof
Wish I saw this video before I started my new sanctuary build. But I figured it out after watching several other skooled zone vids
Edit: didn't use a glitch though. I do have a sanctuary clean up mod on my ps4 though to get rid of the clutter. I just lined up a concrete foundation, took an hour to get it squared to the house, building and storing but I got it
I got a Home Depot ad watching the video. 😂
Crap!!! I fill so slow after watching this XD. You've just made my settlements a whole lot nicer. Great tip.
Honestly miss this dude a lot
Thanks man. I'm still here. New video this Saturday as a matter of fact. ;-)
@@SkooledZone heck ya dude I’ll definitely be there Saturday as soon you post it :)
I sure miss these videos.
More on the way, no worries. ;-)
Great video. Can't wait to see you put the walls on the building. Keep up the great work.
👌
I thought the same. This videos are high quality and it is a shame that you don't get more credit because the playerbase is shrinking. but it is great for us that you are still committed :-)
Hey great job with your building and love the channel! Gotta give you credit cuz I’ve tried this flooring method time and time again at different settlements and can never get it quite right lol
You're the best UA-cam I'm not kidding this is the best
I have been able to duplicate almost all the glitches and tips you've given us, but I am doing something wrong when it comes to reflooring and re roofing the Sanctuary homes. Scrapped everything but the collision just won't quit... I've used the carpet, and pillar glitch. Wonder what I'm doing wrong. No mods. Also so glad you're still making F4 videos!
It can be a tricky one. Have you tried using stairs as the pillar and doing it from the outside?
Once i get the goty edition i start applying these tips and tricks
Thanks for the tips m8. I just started playing fallout one week ago an am loving the game , so addictive lol
Haha, totally addictive! :)
I am floored by this video. Thanks.
🥁🤪
Yknow, the way to teach fallout stuff i think youd be a good teacher in a real.school setting
Seriously good content man, wish I knew of these when I was on console! Luckily, place in red mod doesn't account for everything, so I still use your tricks often :)
👌
Hi, tysm for this! I can't wait to go and do this in my settlement! ^_^
Your channel is awesome. I just repaired a floor and a roof in sanctuary. Can you repair the walls next? All guides I found repair walls and roof or roof and floor. I used paintings to close holes but thats an ugly solution.
Thanks Andi. Yes, walls are on the list. Maybe not next, but soon. Stay tuned!
I'm curious how low the floor would have been if you had attached it to the posts outside, and if the floor would have attached through and gone inside the house. Either way i think the porch would have been a bit lower and could look pretty nice. Love your videos!! Thank you so much for the time and effort!!
Well, if the floor was lower then it wouldn't have covered as much junk, leaves, and papers. So it's just up to you how you like it. :)
Skooled Zone ya im a cheater and have a mod that allows me to scrap leaves and rubble and what not. Thanks
Good stuff I'm gonna have to do this but I'm thinking of using one of the flooring from the creation club.
HalpoCoren: Shame... Shame... Shame. (As heard on Game of Thrones.) Just kidding! 😂
for anyone who wants to use sanctuary as a fully functioning settlement with settlers: *DO NOT REFLOOR SANCTUARY* (or actually any settlement)!
the problem is that the settlers try to walk on the new floor as if there weren't any walls - because that's the way bethesda intended to use those floors. reflooring sanctuary completely messes up the pathfinding of the settlers and they will constantly walk against walls and don't find the doorways anymore.
only refloor settlements, that you use as player homes with noone else (including companions) around.
It seems to work now,if you put steps in and use small fence panels to block bits you don't want them to fall off/wonder into, like if you were making an upstairs 👍
That was interesting and I didn’t think of doing that so I will definitely give it a try.
This was very helpful thank you
You bet! 😊
Skooled Zone thanks
Thank you
Hehe. Well welcome back!! 😸
Skooled Zone Wow...thank you!
Thank you soooooo much, I've used this a lot on my new character. Works great! Thank you, thank you, thank you :) :)
👍
I know this is four years old, but I followed everything and I emptied a house to start fresh. Completed the roofing, and it’s great, but I can’t get the reflooring to cooperate on the first house off the bridge without shrinking the flooring down to only half the floors. The flooring won’t turn blue unless it’s under the actual foundation. I think it’s sloped and the lamp I can’t move? Anyway if anyone else ran into this lmk how you worked it out or approached it differently.
Senpai builder!
Great vids and you just got another subscriber . love fallout 4 and watching your videos might help me with building
Right on. And welcome to the Zone!
Thank you for such a helpful video!
You bet 😀
I’m working on the Vistor’s Center in Far Harbor, would be interested on you would tackle reflooring
Dude you are an awesome guy. Never change man. Thanks for the help!
Thanks for the really nice comment Isaiah!
I have learned so much from your build vid's i hope you can show more gread tricks ;)
Thanks, and I definitely have more tricks to show! =)
