When I practiced Shotokan, in the 1980's, Sensei Kanazawa was already considered a living legend. 100% my role model. Now, seeing this interview I have to conclude he is a living martial arts god.
He seems not only a great martial artist but a great man - He would have made a great Prime Minister of Japan! I can relate to his Image training there was once someone who was far better than other people despite being a junior grade and I cornered him to discover his secret and it was exactly this. Mr Kanazawa's filial piety to his mother and prayer to God to win was a lovely story of a saintly man. His story about how difficult it is win without seriously damaging his opponent shows both his noble character and extraordinary skill. What an amazing man - God bless him !

Tomorrow I have a tournament and I was just looking through UA-cam and found this. I am now totally prepared mentally as well as phically

I took Wa do Ryu from Toshio Osaka my high rank was Blue Belt 10 yrs later I got sucker into a Hawaii vacatio package, soon after received word nobody can make it off the islands natives closed in on tourist with tazers, stun guns and pinapple knives slashing rib cages of the prettiest woman you ever laid eyes on. I pulled over the head cannibol said hey why don't we make this a new Hawaiian punch game you how many of mine and me how many of yours the one with biggest stink pile wins everything ancient Hawaiian no guns me punch & kick tell send your errand boy the message I come to each island I cheat no one everyone has a chance to kill me on my vacation. The message runner disappeared over the hill I said the Hwaiian Punch tornment know begins, push 3 natives against th wall kill all 3 with 1 punch counted out loud 3 then push 2 more up punch counted five hour later 1800 then down the hill to 2000 more. On 1 island I fought for 4 days 3 nights only 2 breaks one 7 minute the other 12 minutes documented kill 60,000 total fist and kick 80,000 plus an additional 40,000 by airwolfing total points 120,000 and I was also blood crown Malta King is that kool or not? And o yes there was a punch trade an Osaka Punch for an Obama Punch!
