      @@guynamedmaggi5520 It's not even an opinion if it does or doesn't.
      Server meshing is literally the only thing that can save the game.
      Currently there is only 1 server handling everything in Stanton. 1 server, hundreds of thousand of entities, has to be calculated with 1 server. Of course it's going to be a mess.
      If we divide the server load to multiple servers, lets say 1 server per planet, that's already significantly better. And CIG want to do it for Locations or even rooms as well.

    I was able to play the other day, had a great time, best in probably a year in a half. I did a delivery mission which, after getting tens of good guns from the completely glitched AI at a hostile hideout, I was able to explore the facility and everything worked flawlessly. I have done much simpler box missions before, and they have catastrophically glitched way faster, and with much less opportunity then I experienced on that mission. My ship even got automatically stored, and the remaining box was still in there, with a mission marker, when I retrieved it which I was super surprised about. I also did a clear out the hostiles mission, and it also worked flawlessly. There was a bit of a scary moment when all of the AI were invincible for a couple seconds, but other than that it worked great. I initially stopped playing because the legal merc and delivery missions were basically unplayable, but it looks like they are in a better state this patch! Now I'm just waiting for some more RAM to arrive. I played more after that initial play session and the game kept hard crashing at major cities due to not enough RAM real-estate, and I have 32GB already! If anyone has any advice for the optimization of RAM usage I am all ears. Either way, I am super excited for the future of this amazing game, and this may be the start of a larger full time player base with 4.0 around the corner (more or less).

    • @ccloudleaf
      @ccloudleaf 10 днів тому +2

      Brother please reread this comment out loud and listen to how insane it sounds. You are huffing the copium hard. "this is completely gitched, but then it worked flawlessly! and this other thing works flawlessly, but the AI were invincible, but it worked great. But legal merc and delivery missions were 'basically' unplayable", your mind is blown because a box mission works, now you're looking to spend money to upgrade your PC for the game being unoptimized... and this is the best experience you had in 1.5 years and you're 'super excited' for the future. Yeah what else is new there, I'm excited for the future too, where SC is a game with content and not a failing tech demo IRL money sink.

    Out of 20 times connecting we were able to log onto a server 3-4 times and those servers were broken and buggy or dying. Even if our ships spawned and elevators worked, FPS weapons were not reloading, everything was desyncing, inventories were not loading, the x button to close the inventory screen doesn't work, enemies respawned every 10 seconds (we were doing those distribution center missions on MT), every mission there gave us crime stats 3-4, missions couldn't be accepted or vanished, ships were floating in the air after a server recovered, there are no lights in air locks in outposts and everything is pitch black, box delivery missions don't register boxes being placed in shelters, locations on the new star map cannot be clicked and one of my friends wasn't even able to install the game because of error 2000 which affects some people.... the state of this game is ridiculous.

    Massive additions. All of which were pushed through knowing they were not ready, lots of bugs, borked, broken and well the same as SC always delivers. Huge hype major fizzle. No new tech, replication layer is just an active save file backup to start a server back from when it 30k. Meaning that your locked to the server until after it takes ten min to recover and recreate the same conditions it crashes from in the first place. Nothing else is more than a single tier step up from what there was before, and still bugged. Character creater, oh wow eye liner and blush and a new interface, no major wow factor there. No new body types, and majority of the time hair and face are never seen anyhow, would actually prefer a less resource needed blank mannequin face template to run with in a game I always were a helmet in. New animal AI, great, they could not get the ones they have to stop standing around in weird places so let add more that stand around in the middle of no where as a mission objective. Lot of tier zero there.
    EVA they did a good job with. Fortunately it helps with all the random ejected into space bugs.
    After ten years and multiple engine changes CIG is finally getting down to the meat of creating a gaming environment that was seen ten years ago, just with more "features" to them like contracts that are renamed and located in a bigger place to do the same thing as the smaller places.
    Master modes, well another tier zero start they will work on later.
    Make up and distractions with renamed titles on missions. Not a lot of meat there for me to get excited over.
    If servers were more stable, if AI was more reliable, if replication layer did not create more cargo lose and exploding ship than the old 30k recovery I would be more interested. But if the basic package contracts take 30+ min do to big work around, server error crashes and having to abandon and restart. Not excited. And as far as any other activity's in the game they are even more prone to bug caused mission ending problems.
    At least all medical beds are respawn points now. So everyone go get your C8R or at Invictus buy you shiny new ship the Ursa Medivac vehicle.

    5:00 - just nothing that nothing about space combat in star citizen is meant to be realistic, and not once in any patch has it been so. The closest ship to realistic space combat is something like the eclipse. You launch ordinance from super far away, never within human eye visual range of an enemy. Its a battle of the best sensors to detect the enemy and the best stealth technology for you and your ordinance to avoid detection.

It wasn't as bad as it was for me as it was in 3.18 but the QOL updates is more than worth the trouble. I like the new flight model for the most part but cruise control is meh. The speed/desync tank exploit fooled a lot of pilots into thinking they were high skill and now we finally see who really had skill. Saturday I mined enough salt to fill Grim Hex lol.

DLSS does nothing for me as I'm CPU bottlenecked however CIG will implement multithreaded Vulkan API's in a not so distant future, so I'm holding off to getting a 5800X3D CPU for now. Switching to Vulkan has given me a very nice FPS boost compared to DX11 however the performance seems to decrease over time. I guess that's why it's still in beta.

    Haven't had any server issues during my play sessions, but one of the things I don't get is why big content creators keep saying they don't like the legacy inventory screen? I think it's great for what it offers and is leagues above opaque screens like Tarkov or completely obscuring your view like Sons of the Forest. I get most people have terminally short attention spans and hate having to understand things, but I think Star Citizen's legacy inventory menu is easy to navigate, lets you access pockets and sub-inventories easily, and doesn't completely take you out of the game itself (especially since you can still see around you and drag and rop items directly to your avatar in real-time. What is this other game similar to SC that has a more intuitive inventory menu that doesn't completely obscure your view while also letting you access item sub-inventories without completely taking you out of the game?

    • @CyborgNinjaJesus
      @CyborgNinjaJesus 15 днів тому

      The inventory screen is pretty horrible... it doesn't work most of the time but bugs aside, it relies on the 3D view of your character to equip stuff. It's terrible design, if you are in a tight space, you have to fiddle with the camera to be able to see your character and what you are doing. It's overcomplicated, and a simple functional 2D UI is much better, It is a total mess.
      If it was exactly the same, but instead of your realtime character it was a representation of it with all the slots, then yeah, it would be fine, but relying on having to actually see your character when there's a million thing that can obstruct or obscure visibility... beyond frustrating.

    • @Billy-bc8pk
      @Billy-bc8pk 15 днів тому

      @@CyborgNinjaJesus The 3D view enables you to see the items exactly as they appear in the worldview as they do on the character, so you can actually see where the item appears, or in the case of armour, how it looks on your character in real-time as opposed to in 2D inventory menus where it looks one way but doesn't appear that way in the game world.
      Plus. 2D UI requires double the upkeep since they need a completely separate set of entity icons for every single item in the game, which means every time CIG updates items they would have to update the separate 2D icons, which is double the work on the backend.
      Plus, Star Citizen actually avoids obstructing the view -- if you can't see in a tight space, simply rotate the camera. I don't see how that's difficult? As opposed to the inventory screen being completely opaque and obstructing your view entirely like in Tarkov, which funnily enough is where a lot of people get had because it blacks out the entire screen to only show items.

    • @CyborgNinjaJesus
      @CyborgNinjaJesus 15 днів тому

      @@Billy-bc8pk It's just annoying and it doesn't work well. Yeah, you can rotate the camera to find an angle where you can see, but I was once trying to manage equipment in a dar tight corridor inside a derelict ship and it was an absolute nightmare and also, just needing to fiddle with the camera to be able to equip things is another unnecessary step. Seeing the 3D view offers no benefit to the experience of equipping things, It might look pretty, but I don't need to see the 3D placement of each item, I just need to be able to slot them in their place, I can see them later when I exit the inventory.
      Also, about the upkeep, that is not a problem since the current weird 3D system already has the 2D icons too, it even has the icons for the items slots, the only difference would be making them always visible instead of you requiring to hover over the correct 3D spot to display them. My guess is that it will go a similar redising to the new looting UI, which is way faster to use.

    • @Billy-bc8pk
      @Billy-bc8pk 15 днів тому

      @@CyborgNinjaJesus Except you're not saying how it's worse than NOT being able to see your character at all? In Tarkov, for instance, you cannot see your character or your surroundings at all. In Star Citizen, just double click the item and it automatically places it on the slot. Or better yet, click the gear icon and it literally shows the item ports for each item and you don't even need to see your character -- in that regard, how is it any different than DayZ, Tarkov, etc.,?
      Also there are no 2D icons in Star Citizen, they are all the same 3D views. It's the same entities just in a different view. So no, it is not using 2D icons at all (which is why if you zoom in, it's the exact same 3D model view and you can rotate the items close-up. It saves CIG a lot of time and effort not having to maintain two databases for items.

    • @CyborgNinjaJesus
      @CyborgNinjaJesus 15 днів тому

      @@Billy-bc8pk You could have a view of the world without needing to have the paper doll style inventory, just like the new loot screen works, I don't see how that wouldn't be just a straight improvement. I mean, it's cool if you like the current one, but I think most people don't and CIG agrees,that's why they are changing it.

    The character customization is a step in the right direction, but the nodes were useless. All they did is blend various shapes from the existing head shapes, depending on which direction the user pulled. It was nonsensical.
    If you've used Make Human, Daz Studio or Blender to create a character, then you know how bad this node system is in Star Citizen.
    For instance. Looking at the characters' side profile and grabbing the nose tip and pulling out should cycle through different model noses with that nose depth. It should stretch the current nose shape out. Same with the bridge of the nose and chin, etc..
    The blend faces tool was the most useful. I wish they would allow the charcter to be exported to Blender or MakeHuman to customize further and then import back into Star Citizen. I was expecting something a lot better than what we got.

    The cruise control changes are terrible in my opinion. My biggest complaint being the fact that you can no longer get out of your seat and keep cruise control active. Which means if you're not in your seat, your ship isn't moving. Bad change. The point of these really cool detailed ships is that you can move around on them while they're flying. This just means I'm stuck in my boring cockpit seat all the time now.

    I personally disagree with your take on master modes. I think ships should behave completely different in space than they do in atmo. They dont need to stick to one way of handling, they need to implement both. One very skilled atmospheric pilot wouldnt necessarily be the best in space and vice versa. That would allow for more specialized piloting and better rewards for putting in the time
