Great info, really enjoyed watching your process. I like the fact that you don’t have the pompous attitude that some of these guys display. You’re very “down to earth” and genuine. Thanks!
Coffee is a great food-safe etching medium because it is acidic, with a PH of 4-5. Given time, and the right concentration, it will eat steel. That is a beautiful blade, Neil.
Man, if that's the wrong way to get a finish on a blade like that. Then I hope you are never right, cause that blade looks bloody amazing and the camera probably doesn't do it justice. Great video.
Im a new subscriber and i love this channel. You have a great sense of humor,oh let me get that foam for you says the knife making barista, lol. Im excited to see more.
Awesome to watch your video for the first time , I watched the recent one also. It’s very obvious your are very good at your craft and you understand it well and were taught to a high standard. Nice work mate from Australia 🇦🇺
first time watching your video, i just started making knife 3 year ago, very inspiring very very cool Neil, ill try that coffee etching, gonna see more ..
I forged one knife from a 13mm gear wrench, bought a cheap forge from Amazon and it don't work 🤣 then ive been looking into etching, not for that project but tools but youve made a great video and shared valuable information. As you said though, it will bring a lot of us together as bladesmiths. Thank you for your time and generous information
Mr Kamimura. Wow man. My first video I am watching of your work and just loved every second of. You humor and art combined makes it pleasurable. Thank you so much. Regards
Merci beaucoup Neil pour le partage . Un homme simple , humble et passionné . Je suis heureux de t’avoir découvert ici et sur Instagram. Merci beaucoup encore mec 👍
A really nice piece. I don't smith any more (to old, fat and knacked), but watching I did learn some thing new, it was using coffee. Who says you can't teach a old dog new tricks! 😆Thank you for the video.
Thanks for explaining it. I am going to have to try it...after i figure out how to do damascus again as I have been focused on Monosteel the last 3 years.😅+🤔i am not a chemist, but it's actually likely that Floried interferes with Ferric chloride as a form of Chlorine is used for in ferric chloride. However, its also has mineral content, which can cause scratches or even streaking (from experience as my current ferric chloride is from tap water... because no one explained it to me when I started 7 years ago...and it still works fine for what I use it for, so I have yet to change it out) what makes coffee work is its weak acid content. It colors 1080 differently than FC because it's a different type of etchant.
Love this bro! My autism hyper focuses me on subjects. Right now it is blacksmithing and I love understanding how this works. Would love a Kamimura knife 🙏🥰
Thanks Neil! I just acid and coffee etched my first blade, and it came out perfect. I watched a lot of other videos, and I had a good understanding....however I chose to follow your way. Your channel has a great vibe that I gravitate to. Thanks for doing this. It's a good thing!
I use Folgers instant, and never boil it. I use 1 to 1 mix to water in a pint glass. Drop my blades in there overnight and get identical results. Great video man!
Finally someone showing how it’s actually done. Someone not skipping ahead saying what they did but showing it step by step. Thank you! This video was exactly what I was looking for! Only question I have. What kind of wax did you use? Axe wax?
Sooooooo cool, your technique is truly unique! I love the contrast! So glad I saw your episode of FinF & finally looked you up!! Will you make your Japanese curry from IG??? (Fellow foodie).
I've been watching a lot of UA-cam on knife making as I'm preparing to get into it as a hobby, The few videos you have, has taught me more about the art than all the others combined. It also gave me a positive attitude adjustment regarding my journey. Peace and love to you and your crew.
I’ve been making knives for a couple years and I do appreciate you taking the time to show your craft , I’ve been working with wood and steel for 41 years but the blades I’m 39 years behind lol , I’ve made some Damascus by hand without a power hammer and I tell ya what , I can’t effing wait to save up enough for one or build one , I’ve been thinking about taking a log splitter apart and making a hammer . Well anyway, I am a new super fan and I will share your channel on my page and give you props because your channel is more entertaining than a lot of others I’ve seen , love your shop too , the only benefits my little shop have is that it’s cold as balls in the winter and the forge makes it bearable , my steel gets cold faster than I like it to though. Again, love your videos!!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video it was incredibly helpful.
This is the kind of content ive been wait for from Neil. Ready to see how far you go.
Excellent !
This explanation was dope. So many makers on yt jump straight from first etch to finished product. Thanks for this Neil
man.... Im a smith. I watch lots of smiths. I simply love your soul man.
I came for knives and left with valuable information about off grid living. LOVE IT.
Im also looking to use coffee as a stain on my counter tops. This is dope.
Truly appreciate this! Always taking notes when watching
Thank you
Yeaaaa now you are on UA-cam too .Thanks for sharing!

Great film. Nice info and well presented . Thanks
Now is the chance that you will see my comment! I really love your work and can't wait to see your videos 😍 greetings from Germany!
Nice custom work. Etching is fantastic. Thanks for the vid.
Always great to see your passion and your take on how to improve the work
One comment would be to lower the background music volume a little?
I watched the Sorinex video of your speech from 2018. Made me cry. Love ya bro. Keep it up and we will see you at bladeshow next year.
Very nicely done… loved the humor in the vid too! 🙂🤙

We are working on a sharpening video. Stay tuned!
That's so cool. Thanks for sharing the proccess 😂
I've forged once in my whole life, nearly 30 now. Your videos are inspiring, I want to get into this!
I got into it at 35 I'm 38 now its never too late my friend !
Shoot I did t start till I was 47 and now I'm 51. Practice good hammer technique and you can forge for as long as you can pick a hammer up.
As an almost 30 year old myself i promise you wanna get into this. Blacksmithing is just about as zen as it gets
Thank you so much for sharing my friend ! Love the way you work !
Best regard from France 🤟
