Perseus does a very good job of this. And it uses several lexicons. Λόγον means statement as much word,as the verb form means to say,state. This is why it is good to use it with the ancient church’s catechism (the Catechism of the Catholic Church) and the early church fathers.
Well that λόγον idea of “accounts” makes perfect sense when tied to its root verb of “λογίζομαι” which has a gloss of “reckon”, “think” or “consider” or “to “impart” or “to credit” (as in an account). I have found a lot of times for nouns or adjectives if you look back at its respective verb you can find some of those special nuanced meanings.
So true about word studies and glosses alone! I would say it's a lack of respect for the language and the Scripture to approach only those ways. I'm not too far along in learning the language, but it makes a tremendous difference when we can also catch the grammatical sense in the text as well.

Hi, I agree with you about the difficulties in Greek especially when translators apply a word-for-word approach. For example when I read the following word "Παραδόσεις" because I am an Eastern Christian who uses Κοινή Ελληνική και Νέα Ελληνική "Modern and Koine Geek", daily, I can visualize what is being said, but the English rendering of "Παραδόσεις/Paradóseis" as Tradition, leaves a lot of nuances out of the passage. In all fairness, this is a difficult word to fully translate. It would take me a few sentences to convey the original meaning of "Παραδόσεις/Paradóseis" ΠΡΟΣ ΘΕΣΣΑΛΟΝΙΚΕΙΣ Β΄ 2:15, ἄρα οὖν, ἀδελφοί, στήκετε, καὶ κρατεῖτε τὰς παραδόσεις ἃς ἐδιδάχθητε εἴτε διὰ λόγου εἴτε δι’ ἐπιστολῆς ἡμῶν. Matthew 5:3 says ' “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.' Are they blessed because they are poor in spirit or are they poor in spirit beccause they are blessed? The first interpretation is the traditional one, but it seems to have problems. If I want to get blessed then I have to become poor in spirit. How do you do this? It becomes salvation by works and a source of pride, which means you no longer are poor in spirit. Being poor in spirit is something that happens to you. You become like the tax collector who beat his breast and said "Have mercy on me a sinner" rather than like the pharisee who thanked God that he was not like other men. I believe the Greeek is ambiguous. What do you think? The same goes for the rest of Matt 5:3-10

I think the Greek spelling of Jesus' name is something like Isus (or something). It's Ἰησοῦ in the interlinear. I think the Latin pronunciation is something like "Yayzoo". I grew up Catholic and I remember my father yelling out in frustration, "Yayzoo Kreasta!" (Jesus Christ). In Hebrew and Aramaic Jesus' name is Joshua (or Yashua, as they don't have a J sound). As far as the names of God used all over the world is concerned, the old "A rose by any other name" applies. God's certainly not judging us on how we hold our mouths when we speak His name. That's a very shallow religion indeed that enforces such trivia.
