Darryl, thank you for this overview
So do the subscriptions come with a base set of Bibles for free or included with the subscription? I had to buy all the Bible’s I have with my logos, although some became available later for free access.
Would some starting with a free subscription have Bibles for free? Which ones. Then with the Premium vs Pro vs Max subscriptions?
Thanks for the info. Does BDAG come with Pro?
😇 Thanks, Darryl, very helpful. Looking forward to the next video about libraries.
I just have one question. I have just bought Logos 10 while I could still get it under the old system, because I wasn't keen on the prospect of the subscription model - I don't do sermons and am never likely to, and I already have Accordance anyway. However, Logos has some books that Accordance doesn't have, so if I want to add any books to my Logos library, will it still be possible to buy books without having to switch to a subscription, or will people be forced to make the switch in order to make additions to their existing library?
Good question. I believe you'll be able to continue to build a library without a subscription. The subscription provides software features beyond the base library/reader/search functions.
How will they handle families (husband and wife), will both need their own subscription? Most subscriptions services cover family members, like up to 5 members.
Hi Darryl, I think as affiliates, we should always be transparent about our affiliate role. It feels dishonest hearing you say that you are not paid by Logos for making this video, suggesting you are not an affiliate. Logos does reward you for making this video and you'll generate revenue from your affiliate link at the end, which you don't say is an affiliate link. Keep up the good work, brother, and be honest as well!
😇I'm wondering if, having Logos 10 Platinum, moving to Premium subscription would disable some features from it. Would I lose features or would I just not gain new ones?
You'll only gain new features.
Hi Daryl. Do I have to upgrade or can I just keep my original paid program? I don't want to upgrade Thanks
You don't have to buy a subscription. Your current product will continue to work just fine!
@@bma good man, thank you
Thanks 😇 I mentioned to someone a couple of years ago that the subscription would be the best way to go for Logos.
😇. I think it’s worth the Max a getting the extra free book. Usually the books are $30 values.
Thanks brother. Great job.
😇 Great overview. I am an early access subscriber to Pro. I’ve been using Logos since the very first version.
Thank you Darryl for this summary!! 😇
I already have a lot of features to study the original languages on Logos. Will those go away if I never buy a subscription?
If you already own the feature or resources you lose nothing
You keep what you've already paid for regardless of whether you move to a subscription or not.
@@bma awesome
😇Thanks Daryl. One observation-when you upgrade to a higher subscription tier your two years for the better features restart on the date that you upgrade.
That might be true, but it includes the lower tier features, which I expect you'd still keep if you left after 2 years. So the 2 year reset probably only applies to the new features.
@@bma That is correct yes.
You seemed to imply that we will lose access to language tools we already own?
Sorry if I did. That's not what will happen. If you own Logos 10 now, you'll keep those. If you stay on the subscription for 2 years you also keep the new features that you acquire while on the subscription.
I bought just the feature upgrades when they were on special offer as I didn't want additional books
I currently own the Logos 10 Full feature upgrade.
Unless there is a specific new feature that is worth 9.99 a month, then I can't see any point in subscribing.
I don't currently see how paying 9.99 a month is going to save me money, especially as I don't know what features may or may not be added, and I don't know if I even need them or would use them. I may just be giving money away for additional features that I don't need.
That's true. You'll want to do your homework to see if it is worth joining the subscription. You'll keep your current features and that may be enough for you ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I think they said the discounts should be ongoing, not just the first 2 years. They did mention if there are price increases, the discounted ones will go up to, but that that it should remain discounted from normal.
Yes, I believe you'll always pay a discounted amount, but I expect prices will increase over time.
@@bma absolutely. It sounded to me like maybe you had heard the discount would only last 2 years, but I probably just misunderstood, sorry!
I am at the end of my ministry in churches, but still like to do in-depth study. I do not intend to upgrade from version 10 platinum. The idea of IA helping me do study doesn't resonate with me. I admit to using AI for some things, but sermon presentation isn't one of them. Maybe when I bequeath my LOGOS library to a new pastor, that person might find the help helpful. I will hold off until that person finds it helpful.
What frustrates me is that it doesn't actually save money over time, though this is the argument Logos keeps making. First, if up front costs were a problem, they already had a payment plan... which is just a subscription but you actually own something at the end. Second, the math doesn't work. I spent $800 and own the full feature upgrade. I don't see a need to upgrade again any time soon but let's say this lasts me 5 years, then I spend an other $800 which should last me another 5 years. That's $1,600 for potentially 10 years of full features. At $30 / month for all of the features, that's $1,800 (360 a year x 5 years) in half of the possible use time.
Exactly. So don’t subscribe. I’m planning not to. I have what I want now. I can buy additional books when/if I want them.
Way more than I woul normally spend. I never did upgrade for every single edition, I would skip some
@@dtwoodsurgery I'm planning the same thing. This just means I'll never be able to upgrade, more or less.
@@Cysansone yeah. I just figure I don’t want/need the AI. I figure there is going to be heavy marketing of new features each time one comes out-to entice us to subscribe. My plan currently is to tune out all the logos marketing after this. Just buy the books I want or need.
If you already have Logos 10 then your annual subscription price would be $129. Over 5 years, that is $645 - so cheaper than $800 every five years and doesn't require a large outlay of cash, and you get all the features as they are rolled out. If you don't have Logos 10, then it is (worst case) $199/year, which means you would pay your $800 every 4 years. But all this assumes you buy the Max subscription. If you don't need the extra AI credits, just get the Pro subscription. Worst case, that will cost you $15/month or $900 over 5 years. If you've already got logos 10 then it's only $9.99/month or $600 over 5 years. Pay annually, and you'll save even more ($500 over 5 years).
In short, its probably cheaper to buy the subscription and get the features as they're released rather than buy them once every 5 years, especially if you're already up to date.
Thanks Darryl! 😇
😇 Great content as always!
😇 I think I am cautiously optomistic. I am not a huge fan of subscription based anything, especially software. I think it shifts too much away from actual ownership of a product. I also don't see the need for AI personally, so there is no real excitement to upgrade. I just hope if they add other features it can still be a standalone purchase like it is now.
I wish they refine the app with a more modern design and create connections with apps like Notion, Obsidian and Zotero
Excellent summary! This was very helpful. Thanks! 😇
You are so welcome!
Thank you so much! You made that very simple to understand. One of the easiest I have found yet.
You're very welcome!
Really good, concise review. Thank you!! 😇
😇 Thanks for another really helpful video!
You are so welcome!
Great info, thanks😇
Not all "ai" is equal (or even ai) btw. You can have a local implementation that isn't loaded with woke or worldly bias. They can have their own llm with a biblical presupposition.
Still questionable. Where is the Holy Spirit in this?
😇 Good to know! Thank you!
I have LOGOS 10 gold; trying the $6.99 subscription. Love all the commentaries I have access to. AI tools: There are dozens of tools I use for free, I am not sure if LOGOS AI is worth the extra money. IMO
Which AI Tools you speaking off? Cause, i have Logos 11 Platin and im wondering which ai tools could be used to have a nice workaround
The Smart Search is ridiculously helpful.
@@Play4YourLi4e 11?
@@Play4YourLi4e I have been using Grok 2 lately... very impressed. I'm not saying LOGOS AI is not worth the cost it all depends on your needs. LOGOS 10 Gold with the 6..99 subscription works very well for me.
I have Logos Portfolio, but I’m really torn, so many tools I will never use
I guess it depends whether you're building a library or using the software and want the features. You're able to take your time deciding.
Skynet has gone live.
Thank you😇
So they give you subscription but then still limit how often you can certain features without credits. These people are thieves
😇 Thanks for the info
🙏
Ah. That explains the switch to subscription: AI tools. So preachers can become dependent on AI to create sermons. Thanks, Logos.
Yeah hoping it doesnt become like bloggers who supposedly blog but never actually write anything themselves..... Sermons, notes etc need to be done personally by the preacher.. otherwise we might as well start a church, call ot chatgpt, stick a laptop up front and let it do all the work....
AI is helpful for ideas, but at this stage, it wont write your entire sermon, just save you time along the way.
The (holy) ghost in the machine, hallelujah.
I straight up walked out of a conference after one pastor found a "tool" that analyses all digital correspondence from a pastor (sermons, emails, etc...) so that it can create a digital copy that people can consult with for the next hundred years and another pastor said that he uses AI to create a personalized video for each new congregant without him meeting them or even knowing their names. Welcome to Gen 11.
With that said, I'm glad i still have my old books made with real paper. I'll pass on the new Logos.
In this day and age I see so many preachers just making up what they think the text says that I actually want them to use a tool that will force context lol

Halo

😅🎉
Way too wordy. I wish you would get to the points clearly & quickly.
The Academy of Cult Fallacies.
This doesn't seem very charitable, but perhaps I've misunderstood you? Is there something I can do to help you?
