      Ben, love your stuff, but I think you oversimplify Christianity. CS Lewis advised new Christians not to trust fleeting feelings of spirituality, and to start acting Christian in order to build up your faith.

      When u truly believe in a value system and religion and if u test these values and it bears fruits and people say " wow I see light in this person" and wow he's a true chrsitian. He helps at food banks all the time and prays for people and sometimes they are healed.. for example I was healed after a 2 yr bout of long covod . Had Wuhan. Strain 1/2020. 6 montj later at 40 urs old healthy had a blood clot in lung didn't know. It dislodged and hit my brain from lung!! Very painful and forgot how to do everything and couldn't speak well, cognition was terrible. I was also swelling up all over hands feet,upper moutj,stomach ,kidneys,about every 14 days where ir was soooo painful and I went to Yale new haven and I had a lot of blood vessel damage from the spike protein replicating causing all that swelling etx and flareups.. they didn't have Amy regeneron or anything then .. 2021 my blood pressure went tp 240/165 for maybe 2 months. My left eye popped it felt like and I went blind for 3 says couldn't take 10 steps!! I was exhausted. I wasn't understanding what pple were saying and it was coming out funny like slurring I was told . I had a stroke .I had an anointed pastor pray over me and after 2 yra od suffering the pain went away ampmost instantly.. I started getting my cognition back ,I could walk for an hour now no problem just a few weeks after versus 10 steps and being in bed!! I started to cook and clean and helped at this rescue mission where I lived cuz I lost everything cuz I was unable to care for self and my mother just passed of cancer . So I lost my condo,car,job and taxes lapsed on house. Head gasket went in car 08 Honda accord . My room mate overheated whole I was in hospital.. he had to take my lil sister to store in snowstorm and amassed it up!! So I started to cook for 100 pple a day in need and clothing the homeless and passing out clothes to those in need at our donation sites!! Started studying Bible and doing Greek Hebrew translations on old testament and having conversations with classes of 20 to 30 pple . We read a boll battlefield of the mind by Joyce Meyer. Read return of the gods by Jonathan cahn.. i also had a friend at the mission who had a soot the size of quarter on lung and asked me to rosy 4 him .. I did at stop shop and he said he felt like a electrical shock !! I saw him at church last Wednesday and he was going to get thos cancer soot removed!! They were getting ready to go in and it was GONE!! So I have experienced healing, and I was healed in Jesus name!! The final thing that I surely know God and angels are protecting me is .. 1 guy got kicked out of mission.. and he had me attacked outside on state street in bpt ct. I was helping someone with a tore a d 2 guys pinched me in head .. said oh u git my uncle kicked out etc etc . I felt no pain and was thinking these guys are chumps.. them they go get a bat in cat and these kids and 2 guys blocked road and said go down side street .. so they chased me wotj 3 witnesses . One guy gits me in back of head with metal bat and 3 witnesses saw 😇 or something Blick the strike !!.I heard a crack like a foul ball and I heard bat drop but I kept going.. when I came back hours later the 2 guys who saw what happened out of 3 were there. They said " the bat dropped to ground and while u getting away 2 grown men were being held back and couldn't grab bat that fell in ground! Something was holding them back from getting the bat on floor for about 3 minutes!! They started calling me the " anointed one" and were like God really loves u bro 🙏.. so I hope this helps who's reading and If Ben decides to I hope it lifts his spirits..

      When I put my faith In God and my values to the test I always pass!! I always know I did the right thing .. when u ask someone who is pro abortion they only use words to slant the truth and they know ita wrong. And I'd they don't they need to check their spirits.. there was a guy recently who started studying all religions and started taking a lip from this and that and had this whole system of how to live and everybody was like " you are such a phony " .. he knew he was faking it himself.. I know when I'm at the food banks and feeding and clothing and helpmb those in need. And going out and praying for those who are sick and preaching gospel .. and following the 10 commandments and trying my best to love god,pray,eat well,workout,and always put God forst .i keep him in front of my mind in everything I do& people come to me and say u always uplift me . Or others will say " there's something about ur spirit " . Lot of light and goodness in u "!! So I'm trying. Many people who say they are chrsitians are not walking In the spirit and praying and doing what Jesus told us to do.. preach gospel, pray for sick,hel0 those in need, feed poor, love your neighbor as thyself,love God wotj all your heart . Those 2 commandments fulfill the 10 cuz if I do and love my neighbor I won't hurt ,stral,lie, or covet his wife,. If I love God with3all my heart I d9nt want to sin and want to be and feel his presence!!

      @Noun-none-9 The comparison between faith and emotions is an erroneous one. Emotions are indeed intangible, yet rooted in personal experience. On the other hand, to believe in something without evidence is the very definition of faith - therefore making it not possible to be discussed in a rational manner.
      As Søren Kierkegaard once wrote, “Faith is not a matter of the intellect but of the will.” It is a subjective leap that one takes without the aid of reason or empirical evidence. Faith operates on a different plane altogether. Hence, while it may be possible to discuss emotions through introspection and dialogue, faith is beyond the realm of rational discourse.

    Man this is awesome Ben. I’m a Christian but I loved what you said about the “experiencing God” and in response actions follow being possibly problematic because as we know, feelings eb and flow and are always changing. Through my experience of trying to lead others to God, a lot of non-believers want to experience God and witness something for them to believe. And some of them have “experienced” things that has made them believe for a short while, but that experience comes to an end “5 minutes later” just like you said and they don’t believe or “feel” anymore. The heart of man is deceitful so I 100% agree with your statements on that. The best way to witness God is through is word and living accordingly even as a Christian.

    As a Christian, the "transcendent moment" you called it, I view as a relationship. Like a marriage. Sometimes you like (love always) but maybe not like behavior, etc. Or kids! One doesn't always "like" what loved ones do or say, but you maintain relationship. THAT is the difference in my opinion. Love is the hinge. The door goes both ways. God unconditionally loves me. I'm not always on my best behavior, but the relationship still holds true.

    • @alecepting1371
      @alecepting1371 Рік тому

      And that relationship has to be cultivated to keep it always transcendent (paramount or central to our lives). I think this is the piece of the puzzle that Ben is missing. Sure, justification is a one time moment, but the ongoing relationship is sanctifying (to make us holy) us moment-by-moment. That's what daily Bible reading and prayer does. The Bible is God speaking to us in objective truth, the Holy Spirit making that word subjective truth as we subject ourselves to it by applying it to a particular real-life situation, and prayer is us speaking back to God to align our wills with His, becoming transformed by the renewing of our minds to be more Christlike. This should instill the humility that Ben speaks of, as we come to know God (not so much facts, but relationally) in a deeper way.

It bothers me from time to time, but I don't get caught up in God killing anyone because it's his creation, he has a right to bring justice or relieve anyone from life in His own way.
      My biggest concern is people murdering people they didn't make (including themselves).
      We were made for God, not for ourselves and the abuse of others. And when that happens, God's justice is to make it right however he sees fit.
      God feels wayyyy more compassion than we do, and when he's angry, his anger is wayyy more just than ours. We don't know all his ways and ends, but we can see two things; God is loving and just. Did you know He killed His own Son for us?

After flood all those who were no longer full human....study the nations which were destroyed and their genealogy. Their blood line... unfortunately we still have some of the seed of Satan with us here on earth.
      Study and argue....would you have liked if we lived among a huge number of sort of humans who ate humans...but well. Maybe you might have. But God saw it fit that whatever he didn't create to be destroyed whether after centuries there will be people who will think they are wiser than Him.

    I'm a born-again Christian, but there is a lot of truth in what Ben says about Christianity. Many western civilization Christians today need some kind of experience before they can follow God's laws. Sometimes, we don't want to follow the rules and it's quite difficult. It's in those times it's more important to follow God's laws. That shows our true faith and love for the Creator.

      How do you know that you’re dealing with God without having an experience? And how can you prove for yourself that the Bible is the true word of the true God? Mass to be a spark of something somewhere… Even if you’re following through on the faith and religion that you received growing up… And order for it to be real you have to make it your own. Is it based on facts? What are the facts about Jesus can you actually prove that he was the son of God? If you didn’t have the Bible, could you prove that Jesus was the son of God? Is there any real and true compelling reason to believe that there is a god at all, and that is true, and real revelation has come down to us through the Abrahamic traditions?

      @jessepotter365 Рік тому +1

      @@johnnyxmusic You have a lot packed into your comment, so I'll do the best I can to answer. How do I know God is real? The evidence is through my experiences in life. Things that have happened to me I can look back and see God was there. I was referring specifically to "feel good" experiences in church or other church related activities that many modern day Christians require in their faith. Once we know and understand what is right and wrong (yes, both through the Bible and other believers' teachings) we have a baseline knowledge of what we should and should not be doing. Jesus made it very clear that anything selfish should be cast aside and we should be focusing on helping and loving each other. Modern day spirituality that says what you believe is true is in direct opposition to that. We are conceited to believe we know what's best for ourselves.

    I n response to conversation found around the 8:00 mark,
    Proverbs 23:7 says, “ as a man thinks in his heart, so he is.”
    Psalm 14 also addresses our hearts’ condition, summarized in Psalm 14:3, “There is NONE who is righteous, no not one.”
    But the good news for an utterly hopeless and wicked humanity was prophesied in Isaiah 53:
    “…Surely he has borne our griefs
    and carried our sorrows;
    yet we esteemed him stricken,
    smitten by God, and afflicted.
    But he was pierced for our transgressions;
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
    upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
    and with his wounds we are healed.
    All we like sheep have gone astray;
    we have turned-every one-to his own way;
    and the Lord has laid on him
    the iniquity of us all….” (Verses 4-6) “…yet he bore the sin of many,
    and makes intercession for the transgressors.” (Verse 12).
    Read all of this chapter to see that God had a plan before the world was created to demonstrate His great love, justice, righteousness, mercy, and wisdom. This plan was foretold in the Old Testament and came to fruition when Jesus came. (See John chapter 1. “The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
    And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.’”) For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known.”
    Jesus fulfilled the law, which no one in the history of humanity could ever do. Then He paid the penalty for all the atrocities we’ve committed against God’s kingdom and rule & all we’ve committed against one another. He was killed for us, but He was raised through the power of the Holy Spirit and gives life to everyone, (Jew, Gentile, Nonreligious, etc), who receive Him by faith just as the prophet foretold, “Your dead shall live; their bodies shall rise.
    You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy!
    For your dew is a dew of light,
    and the earth will give birth to the dead.”

And there are other people who are just so stupid they don't know anything, so if Vaush says Russell Brand is a fascist, they nod and agree, because challenging it might expose how little they know. So much poverty, drug addiction, mental illness, violence, crime, and upheaval in our country, and they are calling to eradicate abortions, calling it murder. And yet, in Exodus 21, it shows clearly where God stands on that issue. The life of the woman is what calls for death, the miscarriage of a fetus was a fine. The fact God distinguished between the two says it all. Who in their right mind wants unstable women having children? Those who come like sheep but are inwardly ravishing wolves. A crime is committed through action and omission. Failing to take action against evil when you have all the power and resources to do so,makes you guilty.
