Ceasar.was.played by Andy Serkis who is, in my opinion, single handedly responsible for the success of motion capture technology. Golum, Ceasar, King Kong. The man can do no wrong #Legend
Yeah, it really opened up an entire new path for acting to go. If ever watched "Wednesday," the disembodied hand is, Thing, is actually played by an actor using his own hand. Instead of using technology to make the end, they went the opposite way, and used technology to hide the human actor.
No, the majority is the work of actual animators, not Andy. Andy made a career out of devaluing the work of actual animators to be "taken seriously." The majority of his performance on Gollum had to be re-keyed and rebuilt by animators by "hand." Mocap was not up to par at the time and still isn't, animators still have to go in. For example in this movie it's as simple as the fact that there's scenes that simply cannot be done by a human so animators must do them or bridge them on top of cleaning up or changing Andy's performance. He is great at acting and great at reference though.
Here: "For Gollum: In the early 2000s, when Serkis performed Gollum, the technology was still relatively new. A significant amount of animator work was required to translate Serkis' performance to the final CGI character. While Serkis' physical performance and facial expressions were used as a reference, animators had to do a considerable amount of keyframing and rebuilding to create the final on-screen character. This included: Manually adjusting the character's movements to fit the CGI model Enhancing facial expressions Adding details like eye movements and subtle gestures Adapting the performance to fit the anatomical differences between a human and Gollum It's estimated that a large percentage (possibly 50-70%) of the final animation was heavily influenced or directly created by animators, though Serkis' performance was always the foundation."
@@eduardomartin8510 Devaluing? He did nothing to devalue, we as the audience do that by not recognizing other elements of mocap. His acting and gesturing has a lot to do with the finished product.

In the original Planet of the Apes, when Charleton Heston screams "get your paws off me you damn dirty ape," it was this legendary "oh shit" moment that made everybody in the theater shut up. So the fact that they not only did a callback to that scene but also followed it up with ANOTHER iconic shut-the-theater-up moment is one of the most masterful ways I've ever seen a modern film do a send-up to its original.

The original "Planet of the Apes" is one of my favorite movies of all time. I don't know why, probably the ending, but I tell you one thing Charlton Heston looked freaking awesome in the loincloth.

If you guys have the time, try to watch how they did all of the production from acting, motion capturing and CGI. It's mind blowing how good it was.

Great reaction guys love your channel, but please don’t make us wait months for the second and third movie😂this is one of the best trilogies ever, every movie is a masterpiece and can’t wait to see your reaction, peace ✌🏽
Ceasar's mom never should have been taken from the wild, and the neighbor, while over reacting and high strung, was just looking out for his family. Chimps are at least 4 times stronger than humans, and a few years before this movie was made, a woman's "pet" chimp mauled her friend, tearing off her he face (including bone and eyes) and tore her fingers and hands off before being shot by law enforcement. You can look her up online. This made a lot of people understandably scared of chimps, which are far more violent than gorillas.
Also alot of people don't know this. Gorillas and Orangutans are vegetarian. Chimps are meat eaters. They will hunt Baboons and other monkeys in the wild.
@@sc1338 Thanks for the correction. I think it's gorillas that are as much as 10 times stronger than humans, but chimps are far more aggressive by nature.
I will never forget how everyone in the theater went legit silent after a big gasp after Ceaser said “NO”. Such an incredible scene and amazing movie. You guys watching the next two movies are a must. 😁
8:58 Fun fact about this exact issue, individuals can sell original works of art created by animals, but those works cannot be copyrighted because they weren't created by humans. He could sell the original artwork by Caesar, but any likeness or recreation or picture of said artwork would be fair game for anyone to use, because the creator is not human. The litigation is still pending, but the issue came to a head 10 years ago when a British photographer had his camera snatched by a macaque monkey in Indonesia and it took selfies. The whole thing started because Wikipedia posted the images and argued they didn't have to pay him. Also, this your most hype reaction, I love it.
Caesar didn't want to use violence because of what he did to his neighbour when he bit his finger, he learnt that violence lead to his punishment/incarceration so violence leads to more trouble so should only be the last resort & never be the first resort. Also don't know if you watched to the end of the credits but if you didn't you missed the neighbour was a pilot & had started spreading the virus around the world.

This was crazy to watch near its release especially when living near San Francisco and having visited there several times. Not to mention they partially did film the second one in the city too
The guy that dies first from the virus with the beard is in a really good horror/comedy movie you could watch for October called, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. Caesar is voiced and his mo-cap performance is by Andy Serkis, aka Gollum. For the second movie, take a look at the behind-the-scenes of the mocap and the devices they attached to their arms to be able to move more ape-like. You all didn't watch the ending credits scene? It sets up the next movies and beyond.
Simply one of the best trilogies of all time. You guys are tailor made for these movies. Hannah really connects to the emotional scenes and Ash really appreciates the inspiration and rise to leadership of it all. You guys gotta watch the next two immediately. They are unbelievably entertaining.
Great reaction guys, baby boomers like me grew up with the original 5 films starting in 1968, then there was a tv show for one season. Then later there were Planet of the Apes marathons on tv, the merchandise was huge also. I hope you will consider reacting to the first one , starring Charlton Heston, it is ranked as one of the best films of the whole franchise. The director of this film thought enough of the original films to put several easter eggs in this film.
10:58 need to show Hannah a casual geographic video on chimps. And realize that he didn't react harshly enough. Personally if a chimp got out in my neighborhood I wouldn't even go outside. And if I had a gun I would probably kill it. Because put it this way chimps love biting off what they know is important to you. So fingers, face, genitals. You don't mess with them. Look at all the stories of people getting ripped apart for having chimp's as pets. So honestly his reaction is completely justified and honestly not harsh enough.
I was waiting to see your faces when he said "Noo!!" That moment was shocking in the cinema when it came out. You could have heard a pin drop. A powerful piece.

I really hope you continue with this franchise, personally, I think Dawn is one of the best sequels of any franchise! Please continue with the Ape films, they’re definitely worth your time!
45:30 killed me 😂🤣
He can have one but it depends on him that he will get one or not😂😂😂
"Serious George" lol 😂😂😂☠️
They are not ready for what's next.. Andy Serkis is goated, and so is the actor playing Koba ( Toby Kebbell ) who learned a lot from Serkis. Chef's kiss man, this is what cinema is about.
I strongly recommend watching the planet of the apes movies with subtitles on, otherwise you won't understand a thing in the next movie
Edit: Hope you didnt miss the post credit scene that explains what happens with the virus, it sets the context for the second movie
What are you referring to that someone would need subtitles?
@@emmakai2243they literally use sign language throughout the whole movie
@@CharismaSpencer Yeah, so what? I don't know sign language, but I understood the movies. Subtitles are nice to have, I guess, but definitely not critical to understanding and enjoying the franchise.
It’s got a default subtitles already
@@emmakai2243 dude ur dumb they need subtitles to understand half the scenes
AMAZING franchise. It gets better and better with each movie!
As it should be 😢
the third movie in particular feels so much deeper than it had any business being.
Almost everyone agrees the second movie is the best one
I like the first one the most
@@ben1ben2ben1I like the first one the most.
I ABSOLUTELY ❤️❤️❤️ Hannah's reaction here. She hit ALL the emotional and powerful beats and I was right there with her. Luv u guys! The 2nd one is even better
When Ceasar says "No!" Buck looks like he is seeing a manifestation of god.
I love this trilogy! Every movie gets better in it's own way. I love the gorillas and Maurice the orangutan.
I don't know how many times I have seen them, but I still tear up more than once in every film.
OMG... This is such the perfect movie for the both of you to watch together.. Hanna crying her eyes out throughout and Ash giggling like a maniac.. I've been dying for you guys to get into this franchise. And to think there are two more that only get better.. and I think a fourth one about to come out. 😆💯🔥😎👊
Hannah at the end seemed to think that Koba was a good guy and she loves him after killing the ceo
Just wait until she watches Dawn 😂😂😂
Evil is only evil when it's only done to those u don't like. Humans tend to be hypocritical with that
"He can have a girlfriend now" IM IN TEARS😭😭😭😭😭
Probably never seen the 60s-70s Planet of the Apes films. The 1968 original is legendary. Beyond iconic. These new ones are very good (I'm glad that they aren't remakes). But the older ones are a different vibe. They're a lot darker and angrier..
The original "Planet of the Apes" is one of my favorite movies of all time. I don't know why, probably the ending, but I tell you one thing Charlton Heston looked freaking awesome in the loincloth.
I loved the old collection as a little millennial kid , the 2005 one was honestly the worst and it was the best tech of all of them at the time.
Remakes are awesome too but less fantasy which kinda takes the fun away
@@eno6712That one was 2001 actually lol. I remember because it came out on my 20th birthday. That's what I wanted to do for my birthday and it was so disappointing. Great ape effects/make-up. Bad everything else except for Tim Roth's performance..
18:07 - 'Being curious, sometimes lands you in prison' - Out of context Ash
Guys! You missed one of the most important parts of the movie! During the end credits it shows what happens with the neighbour and the illness! You gotta react to that!!!
It's replayed at the start of the next movie anyway
Seeing this in a packed theatre opening weekend was an unforgettable experience. You could hear a pin drop when Cesar yelled “NOOOOO”. It was goosebump inducing.
What I love about you guys is you 2 could be talking anything irrelevant about the movies at play and I'm still engaged in the conversation. I never sub within 1 reaction video but your Star Wars Ep V intro sealed it for me. You guys are HILARIOUS. Favorite couple reactors for sure ❤
If you are convinced that the CGI is not noticable, that is a really good CGI and this movie was one great example. The actors who played key characters also did a really really good job with the acting. If you guys have the time, try to watch how they did all of the production from acting, motion capturing and CGI. It's mind blowing how good it was.
Now you guys just have to watch the rest of them. It’s only going to get better and more emotional
This has got to be one of your best reactions 😂 the part Caeser shouts NO.... both your jaws dropped 😂😂😂 amazing
This trilogy really is something man. The first blows you out of the water, but the second and third tug at every emotion humanly possible. This series was a godsend from Hollywood. Matt Reeves takes the second and third film to AMAZING new heights. Cant wait to experience all this with you guys.
One of the best trilogies of all time, Caesar’s journey is an emotional rollercoaster.
For me is the best trilogy of all time ❤. LOTR is not a trilogy, is just a long movie cut 2 times.
Great reaction. I love the energy and how much you guys relate to the apes.
Side note: Hannah’s hair this episode is MAJESTIC!!!!
17:27 “Oh my god tell him to stop” lmao
She's gotta work on realizing it's just moving pixels 💀
Mine and my mates reaction was EXACTLY the same at -that- moment.... we were shocked and just stunned and looked at each other... so good and the films only get better in the series.
“Look at these curious georges…now serious georges…”. Nice one, Ash…. Well done…😂😂
"I don't think Koba's got good motives." Lol
“And I believe they should get in the bus a few them and drive through” Hanna absolutely kills me 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Y'all are gonna have an absolute blast with these movies! I'm so here for all of them! Bring the tissues for yer girl for the next ones! 💜
The orangutan is called Maurice and you are going to love him. We need the next movies ASAP
Can't wait for you guys to get to the rest of the movies and see how the story progresses! They are honestly amazing
That’s actually not true, they’re 1.5 times as strong per pound of muscle. Everyone always over does the strength
@@sc1338 Thanks for the correction. I think it's gorillas that are as much as 10 times stronger than humans, but chimps are far more aggressive by nature.
38:34 somehow still surprised how Ash connects things I forgot about. Playing chess well translated into a great leader.
I will never forget how everyone in the theater went legit silent after a big gasp after Ceaser said “NO”. Such an incredible scene and amazing movie.
You guys watching the next two movies are a must. 😁
@32:18 most genuine reaction I’ve ever seen😂. That scene had me hyped at the theater
I'm hyped for y'all to see the others and Hannah I love how sweet you are its crazy how I always cry at the same times you do in these videos 😅😂
You guys definitely need to rewatch this one with subtitles to understand what Caesar is signing. Also with the other two films from the trilogy
“He’s like scar from lion king” you’ve got no idea mate 😂😂😂
YOU ARE GOING TO ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE SECOND AND THIRD MOVIE. I've watched this these movies MULTIPLE TIMES! Crazy crazy good and I had to warn hannah, i cried every time, like bawled my eyes out EVERY SINGLE TIME I watched them, without fail. And yes ceaser is just amazing, I fell in love with him so much, it's like I watched him grew up and became this amazing leader. He is just amazing i wanted to cry right now.
Awesome awesome choice hannah and ash, love these series of movies because of the high level cgi
You two are in for one incredible film followed by another incredible installment followed by an absolutely amazing installment. Andy Serkis deserved ALLLLL of the Oscars for playing Caesar.
You guys will love Caesar, he is one of the best characters ever created.
This trilogy is getting better and better with every movie.
Your faces when Cesar said NO! was epic. Such a genuine reaction to a great movie moment. 🥃🥃🥃
I love watching Hannah get so upset 😂
Hope you guys watch the next Pirates of the Caribbean movies soon. 💜
Next year
People’s reaction to Caesar speaking will never get old. It is probably one of the few times I get excited seeing another reactor do a video of it.
Fun fact: David Oyelowo, one of scientists in this movie, also played Martin Luther King in the biopic film Selma(2014).
Jacobs wasn't a scientist. Jacobs was CEO cock-face.
I was waiting to see your faces when he said "Noo!!" That moment was shocking in the cinema when it came out. You could have heard a pin drop. A powerful piece.
“HES GONNA STAB THE DAD” 💀 IM CRYING Caesar was just helping
He tends to speak before actually processing what he's watching 😂😂
This movie was amazing in the theaters. I can't wait to see you two react to the next ones
Yes,yes,YES. I've waited so long for you guys to do this movie(and hopefully the following two) You just made my day.
You forget the end credit scene (on camera)!!!!
BTW That was a wonderful reaction!!!
Now, on to the second and third installment/movie!!!!!
Y'all are in for an emotional roller-coaster with this Trilogy! (Haven't seem the movie that came out this year, but these first three movies are all masterpieces!) 💜
@yaboycapone1996 Nah, I'm good.
@yaboycapone1996 So just because I'm making multiple comments on a video, that qualifies me as a creep? Intriguing logic.
@yaboycapone1996 eh, who wants to be normal anyway. I'm not a creep, I'm just an individual with alot to say and I don't want to put every thought into a single comment. It's not desperate, it's just alot on my mind about the video I'm commenting on.
@@yaboycapone1996 Yo, are you the comment police or the government funded "Comment Frequency Regulation Agency" ? Show me your badge, officer!
@@yaboycapone1996 it's alot. Of corny dudes in different channels coments that do the same shi 😂. Then they get all uptight when someone calls ts out, then half the time it's people repeating that same did you know fact about the movie
You are soooo FUNNYYYY!! 😆😍😍
Hugs from Italia! 🫂🫂
To be fair, if I saw a chimp outside with my kids I’d probably bring my kids in too. Unless it was being aggressive, I wouldn’t bring a weapon but a chimp will mess a human up. Much less a kid.
Forever I will watch ash and Hannah's reaction where they hear Caesar said no !! That's the best part of this reaction vid😮🐵
if you intend to watch the rest of the movies please remember the bully chimp from this movie. his name is Rocket. He ends up being the most loyal chimp to Caesar to the end.
Bruh … 😭
I can not thank you 2 enough for just being real and genuine. I have never enjoyed watching a channel so much. Thank you so much and bless you both.❤
