Just for future viewing reference do not remove the 14mm nut on the rocker arms just remove the 10mm hold down bolt and install new injector torque bolt back down to 27 ft lbs no need for valve adjustment for an injector install unless you just want to
Your are correct thanks for pointing that out
Thank you I was like no I need to see that procedure
Thanks for clarifying I adjusted rockers on SBC but Iam learning about diesels now that I bought a tow truck is it The same time procedure just curious
I think I learned more in that one video then I did in 4 years at high school.
Why did you remove the lash setting nut? You only need to remove the center bolt to remove the rocker assembly..
Playing with fire unless you like to reset the overhead.
@@dpokorzynski what you mean
I was going off of this video cause it was step by step and easy to go off of but I was wondering myself but by the time I figured out I didn't need to it was to late I spun all the nuts off because I'm replacing all injectors. Now I have to gap every rocker and it would be so bad but this video does not show the gapping process or gap specs. This would have been a thumbs way up but now is not
Thanks. Happy I saw this comment before I started this job
This is great, very clear and easy to follow. Now I just have to pinpoint which Injector is bad. That will be tomorrow job.
Thank You.
That was very helpful, there’s a guy at the shop that is very knowledgeable but, He is a pain in the Axx, so instead ask him I prefer doing my search so I can figure out by myself.
Excellent video!
Thanks for this video and explaining it down to the smallest details
Great video. Very detailed on all the procedures. Just had a question. What brand of torque wrench you used for this job. I have tried to get both inch lbs and ft lbs 3/8 set but can’t see what’s the brand that have them both. If you have the information I would appreciate it. Thank you
Lash specs and process is a very much need to know in this video
Thanks body, its my 1st time on Cummins and I've no manual for assembling the injectors, that's weird although it's marine engine.
Wow good job on explaining it and taking steps detail by detail I’m impressed.
Why did you loosen the lash adjustment initially and why didn't you remove the exhaust and intake rockers at the same time?
Do these injectors have to be programmed?
Hou Can i programme the injector
Question. If I install a rebuilt injector and need to program the ECU for that née injector. Do any of the aftermarket “tuners” enable me to program that into the ECU? I plan to buy a tuner anyway, so if I can do that and avoid paying that money to a local shop to program, it might save me some cash in the overall picture.
Yup
@drywall308 the injectors have a number etched into the body. If you install new injectors, the ECU will sometimes throw a trouble code unless you enter the number into the ECU. Turns out my truck ran fine without codes. It already had a tuner installed so it didn’t give me any issues.
Why did you remove the valve lash nut ????
You just calibrate the injector codes into the ecm and don't loosen the valve train lock nuts unless you just absolutely want to do an overhead procedure
good vid, thx. It looks like the injector has an indentation for the inlet...how do you ensure the injector is clocked correctly so that the inlet tube lines up with the injector fuel inlet? or maybe the injector just is seated inside a 'chamber' and the fuel inlet tube just injects into the chamber?
Exactly my question
It simply won’t snap in place, you have to make sure your hole on your injector is facing towards where the tube goes in. before snapping in place
My main issue is with a 2012 how do you identify a injector that is causing too much soot. No injector quality test on insite
Did you have to program them
After changing then do you have to bleed air out the system if so how
Excellent video! I have a couple of questions, does the coolant need to be drained and do you need to program the new injector coefficient into the ecm after? Thanks!
I don’t know if that was supposed to be funny or if you’ve only worked on a Powerstroke before. These engines seem so much easier to work on.
Excellent, very helpful.
Great video vary helpful
No need re program on ecu after replace injectors
I am getting a P020D code on my 6.7 Cummins with 99k is an injector?
Why did you remove the “exhaust rocker” arm nut #14 mm socket for?
Boa noite amigo...Poderia ligar a legenda ...estou no Brasil
Couldn't the injector have been cleaned and reused?
Great 👍 Sir very good explanation
Gostei, porém quero saber qual o torque dos dois parafusos do bico injetor
1 step 44 inch lb injector bolts
2 step 11 f lb feed tube nut
3 step 89 inch lb injector bolts
4 step 37 ft lb feed tube nut
5step Rocker arms 27 f lb
Complete? Now you have to go through the entire valve lash adjustment procedure...
So if i replace one i jector i need to to a valve lash , and that mean what? Top dead center stuff
@@thizzam you don't have to run the overhead if you don't screw around with lash nuts
How did you determine which one needs changing?
OBD 2 reader will tell you
Doesn't look like the 14mm nuts had been tightened.
Does anyone know if these torque specs carry over to a 2019? I don’t know what, if anything, has been changed over the years in this area.
I dont belive its the same torque specs. The 19+ went to a hydraulic valve train so I'm sure other stuff including torque specs has changed
That's pretty complicated I honestly thought I could just go on the top of the engine and unscrew the injector LOL
I never replaced them. They just what you to buy more parts
Howany miles on originals?
