Another enjoyable episode. I cracked up when you showed the Brisk LOL. I have been wet shaving with cartidges for years but did my first DE shave this morning thanks to inspiration from you and others. Stunningly, no nicks and an enjoyable shave. Thanks for the confidence!
I got a 1930s cake of Colgate Cup Soap from a mystery box Razor Emporium sent me. I never used it, as it had a musty odor. I display the soap and box next to an old shaving brush I keep in the guest bathroom.
Cremo great product, the slickness is hard to beat, if used correctly. Only the slickness of Taylor's of old bond street compares. Good vid man💈I also wanted to make a suggestion, that you should do a throwback shave, from your early vids with the save cloth and that bar soap I think it was Haha seriously it would be cool.
Fun video! I would think that old Brisk tin has lead used in its manufacture, plating and paint. Might be best as a shelf display piece than reuse for soap. Very cool looking though. Thanks for sharing
Actually the lather you got from that Cremo was impressive. Cremo shave cream is intended to be a brushless non lathering shave cream. So that was a great lather. If you add some cremo to a shave cream like Taylor of old Bond Street, it becomes extremely slick!
I bought some Gillette Pure Shave Cream from Target and it made me think of your videos because it contains peppermint oil and menthol. It is a good shave cream.
Note on Cremo....read the instructions printed on the tube. It's supposed to be a non-lathering, almost invisible cream. But of course, as you showed us, it can be lathered...just may not be as thick. I've been using cremo (pronounced Creh-moh. funny story, there used to be commercials pronouncing it Cree-moh, then they re-dubbed them with the before mentioned prono) for many years. Great video as always!
Still confused as to how they say you get a 90 day supply on those. Maybe just me, but I was only able to get maybe a month and a half out of the tube I got.
I think I hit rock bottom when I combined all my leftover aftershave bottles with witch hazel and added menthol crystals to it. I ended up smelling like a huge wad of chewing gum and the insides of grandma's oldest purse. Wife asked me flush it and of course I didn't. I will try it on the raccoons.
If you're looking for more menthol with your Osage rub, try some Lucky Tiger menthol aftershave cream. Its what I use with the Osage rub, lasts for close to an hour!
I had no idea you could lather up Cremo like that😲..thought it was made to apply with fingertips. Awesome vintage mint julep shave cream tins, that was a popular cocktail in those times, right?
Hello S.L. Tried Cremo about a year ago. Not a fan. To me it doesn`t work well with a brush and seems to fade with bubbles. To many good ones out there to settle for this. Thanks for the video.👍
I don't know if you'd be into buying a new safety razor for review, but it would be interesting to see you review The Crusader butterfly razor by Viking's Blade (black and gold). It's got a non-clicking adjustment with no numbers, and it's got a mild and aggressive side. It is the perfect shaving roulette razor! I mentioned it before in another video of yours, but after using it for the past week, I just have to give it a second mention. It's my first safety razor, and practicing with it is challenging. I wanted something unique, and this exceeded that expectation. I can mow my face down very smooth with it, but man it's hard not to nick myself with it. One day i'll tame it!
"Then began the long, downward spiral into drug and alcohol abuse..." was a phrase used comically often in Behind the Music. That Cremo balm looks a lot like the Duke Cannon stuff that I got at Target. It has an old cedar kind of smell (which seems like it may be what you're trying to describe), so I wonder if they're the same product in different bottles.
There's channels on YT where people collect old Army rations and eat them. It's pretty gross but they've all survived. Edit just saw where you mentioned those ration channels.
Hey if you lived through the depression you’d be stinky too! 😂 they had to use Pam cooking spray for a preshave and had to shave with mud or crisco grease and fashioned up a raccoon hair brush or any roadkill they could get their hands on and an army cantina as their mug and shaved with their old world war bayonets and aftershave with straight whiskey! Those were the days! 😂 😂 😆! I think you should at least do a test lather with the rancid soap and not use it obviously. Perhaps use an old cheapy brush just in case.. that would be cool to see. And I’ve been using cremo as a preshave for a long time same with their aftershave it’s my favorite. Has a nice menthol burn and a good peppermint cologne smell. Nice 👍🏻 vid!
Yeah man give it a shot that would be great to watch. And give a shot out to the old depression raccoon shave brush! 😂 the people may not get it but I’ll be rolling on the floor laughing! Please !
There is a brand called Brisk grooming that uses black and red packaging similar to that, its available in the UK, Germany and (possibly) the US. I tried their facewash and moisturiser, pretty good. Presumably not at all related though 😂
Hey love your videos, thanks to you I now shave with a Gillette slim 😁 anyway here's something to think of trying, mix eucalyptus oil in with your shaving cream and I swear its as strong as menthol crystals 😂
In addition to dropsy and neuralgia, you could have contracted lumbago and the vapors...😂 PS - You should have pulled the old “Don’t you know who I am” bit with the Cremo people.
Van Yulay makes a mint julep scented soap called, as one might imagine, Mint Julep. It contains not a laboratory produced, bourbon scented oil but actual honest-to-goodness Kentucky Bourbon. I haven’t tried it but I do love their Calypso (and I’m not usually a fan of aquatics.) Here’s a link if you’re interested: www.vanyulay.com/product/shaving-soap-products/all-shaving-soap/mint-julep-shaving-soap/
You must be on my brainwave. I have been looking at Cremo products. They have been all over my social media rectally so I decided to check them out. I might give them a shot. BTW since that video was from 1944 during the war *As Archie Bunker used t say the big one, WW2) I bet razor blades were rationed like sugar, rubber...etc. You probably only got so many blades a month and had to make them last. That would also explain why they would make a film on how to care for such a cheap, disposable product like razor blades. Have a great weekend!
If you are serious about making your own soap, check out VintageLife channel. He made his own shave soap, and sent it to a few folks for use. He is fairly talented, would be a good model.
oh dear looks nasty, yet again nice as a memorability you could try and bowl lather lol Creamo dosn´t lather i tried 3 or 4 of them expensive as hell getting them shipped to Denmark oh you mention a pic of JFK´s shaving kit you didnt put it in the video you should :)
"He hit rock bottom when he sprinkled menthol crystals on his Barbasol." Hahaha! Funny stuff. Great shave! Quite entertaining video.

Hey, great! Keep it up and you’ll get better and better shaves every time.

I still have the shave cloth!
@@SinatraLennon Outstanding👍
Great shave I also have the cremo cool and I love it too
Thanks again for those Feather and Bic razor blades...much appreciated! Oh, yeah, and the menthol crystals.
My pleasure!
The tins look cool👍👍💈
They’re a beautiful vintage design, aren’t they? Hopefully I’ll be able to put some new soap in there and use it as intended!
SinatraLennon 👍
I am looking forward to that shaving kit you bought from Ebay
Me too!
Fun video! I would think that old Brisk tin has lead used in its manufacture, plating and paint. Might be best as a shelf display piece than reuse for soap. Very cool looking though. Thanks for sharing
Oooh, I hadn’t thought of that. Wish I’d known that before I made some tuna fish salad in the tin and ate it for lunch! 🤢

I had no idea! Maybe I’m not so bad at lathering after all.
Baber shop
The tube in old shaving kits is for shave sticks, arko will still fit into it. Beautiful razor! Cant wait to see the kit!
There you go! I wondered where the soap was gonna go. Thanks for that.
Awesome video! Love those vintage items. Might go well with the 1918 razor. ^^
"My dog pooped in the shoe." Hahaha love these stories xd
Such a bad lie...
I bought some Gillette Pure Shave Cream from Target and it made me think of your videos because it contains peppermint oil and menthol. It is a good shave cream.
Sounds good!
If you need a new home for your jfk razor I'd be happy to accept it, great video as always stay safe
I like the part when he said “ Turn the switch and the kids started stinking “ LOL
Look for Cremo Body wash too. Awesome scents. I've used the Blue cedar and cypress. Also just got the Bourbon and Oak scent.
Can you link that video you were talking about? Thanks

Non-lathering, really?! Wow! I’ll have to check it out. It did lather fairly well, though. Hmmm...
Great shave brother!! Good old Rockwell!! NO BARBASOL:( LOL!!!!
Aww, I know. Soon!

Shaving roulette! I like that. That's a good looking razor, too!
Oh, I don't have a Cremo Mint, but do have 3 other scents of the Brushless ones.

Cedar! That may be it. Good stuff.
I had an 80s datsun nissan 300zx that smelled like what you described
That’s great.
Do you still have that razor, or have you sold it yet? If you have it, are you still selling it, if so for how much?
I still have it and will sell it for what I paid, which is $40 USD.
@@SinatraLennon I would love to buy the razor from you, but I can not at this time. Thanks for responding as quickly as you did I appreciate that.
Do you think Steve1989 would eat the mint Julep shaving cream!? LOL!!! Cool shave Mate
Man, I hope not!

I might try to lather that old stuff. I do have a crappy shaving brush that I could use.
Yeah man give it a shot that would be great to watch. And give a shot out to the old depression raccoon shave brush! 😂 the people may not get it but I’ll be rolling on the floor laughing! Please !
Menthol really does have a good smell. I'm the one with the soothing aloe.
Have you tried lathering this stuff?
I'm very curious as to if it would still lather! 😂
I haven’t. It’s too gross!

It’s a Gillette 1928 New Style I believe it’s called.
In addition to dropsy and neuralgia, you could have contracted lumbago and the vapors...😂

Ha! I’d never do that. Yep, love those old maladies. Catarrh, dropsy, an imbalance of bodily humours.
I used to be a menthol addict too, I tell the kids to stay away from it now. LOL
Do as I say, not as I do.
I was once addicted to highly mentholated cough drops as a kid. I ate that stuff like it was chocolate!

Hey Craig!
How is the slickness on the cremo?
It’s very good.
Go to next year's Big Shave S'West at the same location and I'll let ya buy me a drink and have a cigar with you :)
