I had a hunch this concert was going to be amazing so I decided to go by train from London and record it. I bought a new JVC CD-1635 Mk II portable cassette recorder that cost an arm and a leg and 3 Fuji C90 cassettes, ended up with a stiff arm holding a heavy microphone above the sea of heads for a very long set of great music, but it was worth it. Harvey Goldsmith had not skimped on the PA system. The sound in the area I had picked was powerful and clear. Despite no windshield occasional gusts did not affect the recording quality.

I was at Blackbushe in '78, my first Dylan concert. I was 14 years old. It remains a day of wide-eyed wonder to me.
How can such profound lyrics come from someone so young? This is the kind of writing that gets you awarded a Nobel Prize in literature.
A bunch of shows in London, airfields in Germany & England,
great, great days... One benefit of being old today is being around for all of Bob's concerts...
I remember the last of the warmup acts leaving, a long gap, then a whole new stage slid forward with Bob's gear on. Slick or what ..
Wow , BOB at his best singing this beautiful song fantastic thanks
Thanks, feel free to enjoy the other Dylan recordings and Roland Ray songs on my channel.
This was the best gig I ever saw. Hundreds of thousands went, nobody knows of it ...
Simply Epic concert!
Blackbushe,
I was there!
Am over the moon to discover these tapes. God bless you Roland Ray for posting them! Bringing back the memories.
I was actually searching youtube for it this last week, in the hope it might have been recorded, and came up with zero. (??)
Now I've discovered it I want to play it full blast, (but can't right now as it's gone 2am - and I don't want to risk aggrevating the neighbours).
Will do so tommorrow tho'. Can't wait! 😁🤩

I was also at the concert, along with 250000 others...the largest paid concert ever in the uk...the stones had 250000 also but that was free. Left the car park at 4 in the morning
Yes : a great day from start to finish - apart from getting out of the car par afterwards !

Still listening to these great Blackbushe recordings that you made. Thank you. The performances are more exciting than the Budokan ones but I haven't bought the new Budokan as it is absurdly expensive.
don't buy it. its not good
250000 people..... woooooowwwww ¡¡¡¡¡¡
So lovely! Must have been one hell of a gig!!! X
I’m 70ish now but imo it was the BEST generation of music, and life in general - not just a 👍 ‘gig’!
