I was there. Hearing this makes the hair on my neck stand up. What a night, and to be a part of rock and roll history! We bought tickets to a concert (I don't even remember who) and that show got cancelled. We were given a choice, our money back or tickets to The Last Waltz with The Band. We were so fortunate. ❤🎉

You were definitely blessed to see him at that concert. I only saw him once in an arena. He was definitely not impressed with speaker system. I had front row seats , it was a memorable time .

I watch this today, 8/9/23, with tears rolling down my cheeks. With the passing of Robbie Robertson, all the members of The Band, who I listened to in my little room, on my quadraphonic 8-track stereo, as a teenager in the ‘70s, are gone except Garth. Dylan and The Band were a huge part of the sound track of my youth. May God rest his soul. Rest in Peace, Robbie Robertson.

I had the good fortune to meet Dylan many years ago in Ohio. I spoke to him for several hours as he relaxed in my uncles farmhouse. He shared many ideas with me, one of which has stayed with me through the years. Dylan was a great advocate of moleskin pants. He claimed they gave you a solid base from which to face the world. Well, sir, I been wearing them ever since and I love them and I do believe they protected me from Covid 19 also.

I LOVE the moment they segue from "Forever Young" into "Let Me Follow You Down." Levon, Robbie and Rick all look at Dylan as if to say "Okay, Bob...where you goin' with this?" Then it all comes together like a perfect recipe. RIP, Robbie.

Yeah, the best moment of the 'Last Waltz'. I have to think they had no idea what Dylan was up to but it sure didn't fool them. Levon straining to keep his eyes on Dylan from behind with Rick & Robbie focused on the movements of Dylan's hands. Rick knows what's up as soon as Dylan's first chord; the way he breaks into that smile & immediately starts bouncing.

Great moment at about 4:17… Bob plays a D7 and you can actually see Bob mouth the words “7th” to Robbie, a chord perfect for transitioning to “Let Me Follow You Down”. Once he starts the riff The Band immediately jumps in, its so perfect it seems like they worked it out in advance, but it’s wild that it was completely impromptu by Bob

The greatest musicians in the world are not the ones who are the most technically proficient or can pull off the flashiest solos, but those who can lock into what’s going on around them and serve the song. That is why I’m arguing that The Band has the world’s most incredible players. Throughout this concert, they proved they can play in a variety of different genres, back up an eclectic mix of artists, and make it all sound seamless. I tip my hat to Robbie, Levon, Richard, Rick, and Garth for being the best in the biz!

You can see that The Band was peaking that night. Those beautiful heartfelt Robbie Robertson solos are just perfect. And you can tell that Bob was pulling a fast one on them with the decision to segue into “Baby Let Me Follow You Down.” But they flowed with it seamlessly, as if they had rehearsed it. Bob rarely openly smiles while performing....and he does at 3:09 looking at his son in the audience. Indeed, Bob, indeed.

Every musician on stage is checking on Dylan every few seconds...look at them giving Dylan quick glances, even Robertson in the middle of a solo. They are all following and serving the genius.
